    Mrs. Wm. Erickson Dies; Rites Saturday
    Mrs. William Erickson, 59, 180 11th St. N, died at 12:30 a.m. today at Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison, following a lingering illness.She had been at the hospital the past month.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Moravian Church, the Rev. Warren Sautebm officiating. Burial is to take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
    Mrs. Erickson was born Louise Timmerman in the town of Carson, Portage County, on Jan. 27, 1899, the daughter of Mr. amd Mrs. Thoedore Timmerman. She was married to Edward Bringman in Rudolph in 1916. After his death in 1927, she moved to Wisconsin Rapids. In May, 1954, she married William Erickson. One son Rolland Bringman, died in 1953.
    Survivors include her husband, four children, Donald Bringman, Madison; Gerald Bringman, Chicago; Robert Bringman, Ardsley, N.Y. and Mrs. Pat Surprison, Port Edwards; four step-children; Mrs. Carl Zeaman, Madison; Mrs. Richard Crotteau, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. James Meilentine, Milwaukee; and Donald Erickson, Madison; three brothers, Joseph Timmerman, Terre Hautem Ind.,Leonard Timmmerman, California and Sylvester Timmerman , Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs. John Morgan, Wisconsin Rapids and 17 grandchildren. Three brothers and one sisters preceded her in death.
    Friends may call at the Higgins Funeral Home from 7 p.m. Thursday to noon Saturday and at the church from 12:30 until services.

    Mrs. S. Timmerman
    Mrs. Sylvester Timmerman, 40, the former Mary McGrath of Wisconsin Rapids, died unexpectedly this mornig at her home in Milwaukee following a heart attack.
    The body will be brought to Baker Mortuary Saturday and the requiem mass will be said by the Rt. Rev. Msgr, C.W. Gille in SS Peter & PAul Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.
    The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGrath was born in Wisconsin Rapids Jan. 8, 1901, and was married to Mr. Timmerman in Milwaukee in October, 1928.
    Surviving are her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Ervin Whittock, 321 10th St. N., and Mrs. Guy Fergel, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Jack Cody, Lone Rock, and a brother, Mex(?) McGrath, 820 Whitrock We. Two brothers have preceded her in death.
    Friends may call at Baker Mortuary after 7 p.m. Saturday. There will be a general rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

    Laurence Arts
    Laurence Arts, 90, Ladysmith, died Feb. 23, 2004, at Ladysmith of prostate cancer.
    He was born on July 5, 1913, at Tony, the son of Martin and Louise Arts.
    He was a lifelong resident.
    He and Genevieve Dvorak were married on April 19, 1944, at St. Anthony's Catholic church, Tony.
    He belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
    He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
    Survivors include two sons, James (Helene) of Madison and John (Theresa) of Menomonee Falls; two daughters, Joanne Arts (Randy Carlson-friend), of Tomah, and Mary (Delmar) Leech of Thorp; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosanna Gardiner of Ukiah, Calif.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother.
    Laurence's life was built on service to family and community. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 23, 1942. He received an honorable discharge on Sept. 19, 1945.
    He served aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Washington. He boarded in July 1942 in New York and served overseas from August 1942 to March of 1944. Due to a collision at sea, the ship returned to the U.S. for a major overhaul. Then he served again overseas from May 1944 to July 1945 (all in the Pacific). He was awarded ten battle stars.
    He taught agriculture at Tony High School for 14 years and also science and veterans on the job training. He worked for 15 years for the Farmers Home Administration. He served on the County Board for a number of years. His life was characterized by hard work, commitment to community and a ready wit.
    Funeral services will be Feb. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father John Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Tony with military honors.
