    Locke, Rosemary H.


    Rosemary Locke, age 90, Town of Menasha, passed away peacefully at her son's home on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, with her family at her side. Rosemary was born on June 1, 1919, in Pound, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Albert and Ida (Jarvey) Zak. On March 30, 1940, she married William Locke in Dubuque, Iowa. Rosemary was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mills and retired from Mid-America Tag & Label. She loved flowers, camping at Geano Beach and most importantly being with family and friends.

    Rosemary is survived by her children: Carol (Ed) Ramm, Denise (Larry) Vanderlois and Jeff (Patty) Locke; son-in-law, David Meyer; 14 grandchildren: Debbie Jansen; Mike Latimer; David Meyer, Jr., Lisa Meyer, Jason, Joe, Curtis and Tom Meyer; Jerry, Russell and Nick Vanderlois; Bill, Jennifer and Kevin Locke; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Pat (Jim) Murphy, Jean Weber and Lindy Zak. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son Bill, daughter Linda Meyer, sisters: Vi Mayer, Arlene (Joseph) Sonnleitner, Helen Jane (Glen) Allen; Ellen (Howard) Anderson; brothers: Albert Jr. (Betty) Zak, Chet (Marion) Zak and Randy (Mary) Zak; sister-in-law Betty Zak and brother-in-law Glen Weber.

    The funeral service for Rosemary will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. The visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

    The family would like to thank the staff of St. Paul Hospice, Kaukauna, for their excellent care and concern given to our mom. Also, special thanks to Father Bob Karuhn and Sister Dorothy for their compassion and prayers.

    Carol is survived by her son, Michael, Appleton; two granddaughters, Alexandra and Erin; sister, Denise (Larry) Vanderlois, Kaukauna; brother, Jeff (Patty) Locke, Kaukauna; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Jr; and a sister, Linda.

    Funeral service will be 11:00AM on Monday June 11, 2012 at the VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with Deacon Don Gigure from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.

  • Note: David Meyer, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Appleton on January 18, 2013. David was born in Appleton on November 14, 1945, son of the late Julius and Elaine (Merkel) Meyer. He was a graduate of Xavier High School, and eventually became a Private Investigator. On August 1, 1966, he married the love of his life, Linda Locke. Linda preceded him in death in 2005. Over the years he worked at American Can as a technical engineer, had a tax preparation business, and worked in his own private investigation business. David also authored and published a book, "The Downfall of Civilization."

    Everyone will remember David for his love of hunting, fishing, cooking, his inventive spirit, barbecues, and Miller Lite. He was also a fan of Elvis, and even attended his funeral.

    David is survived by his children:

    Lisa Meyer (Saad Azab) and grandchildren Matthew, Holly, Kelly (great-granddaughter Lilahanne), and Michael Grover;

    David (Lori) Meyer and granddaughter Tiffany (Justin Krauger) and great-grandson Jeremiah;

    Jason Meyer (Diane Golden) and grandson Tyler;

    Joseph (Karen) Meyer and grandchildren Nicole, Ashton, and Emily;

    Curtis (Teresa) Meyer and grandchildren Katelynn, James, Christopher, and Kyle;

    and Thomas Meyer.

    David is also survived by two sisters: Sharon (Paul) Sonnleitner and Glory (Ron) Reed; a brother: Jack Meyer; and a neighbor and good friend: Dave Evans. There are also many other relatives and friends.

    David was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents, and a granddaughter Ashley.

    Funeral services for David will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Friends may call on Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

    Dad, you will be greatly missed. We will cherish your memory with lots of love. - Your children.

    Funeral Services for Chester Zak Scheduled Friday
    Menasha -- A three-day search for the body of an Appleton man drowned in the Fox River ended this morning when a fisherman sighted the body floating off Jefferson Park.
    Whie casting from a boat, Arthur Adrian, 501 Manitowoc St., saw the body of Chester Zak, 51, 207 W. Foster St., Appleton, surface off 841 Broad St. Adrian docked the boat and went to a nearby phone to notify police.
    Chief Lester Clark supervised removing the body from the river. Adrian, who said he recently had a heart attack, did not remain in the area.
    Missing From Shore
    Zak's body was taken to the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home in Appleton, where it was identified by his brother-in-law, Walter Mayer.
    The search for Zak began at 5:30 a.m. Monday after Douglas Hoag reported to police his uncle was missing from the shore. Zak and Hoag had gone for a midnight swin. When Hoag awoke at 4 a.m. Zak was missing.
    Men in six boates dragged the area off the west end of Jefferson Park until 8:25 p.m. Monday. Two skin divers also searched the water.
    Halted By Rains
    Tuesday draggings were halted intermittently by rains. The search continued Wedesday with the same number of boats. Police halted their search at 12:30 p.m. in hopes that the body would float to the surface in the next 24 hours.
    Zak was born in Dunbar Oct. 5, 1914. He was a sheeter operator at the Bergstrom Paper Co.
    Zak is survived by his widow, father, five sons, three brothers and seven sisters.
    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
