    Laeyendecker, John Erwin "Jack"


    John "Jack" E. Laeyendecker, 68, Appleton, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. Jack was born on June 10, 1941, in Neenah, son of the late Jack C. and Beatrice (Schmalz) Laeyendecker. He was united in marriage to Catherine Grones on Nov. 28, 1963, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly.

    Jack worked at Albany International for 40 years. He loved buying new cars and kept track of each one. He also enjoyed traveling.

    Jack is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; two sons, Ron (Leslie) and Kevin (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Paige, Derek, Jordan, Jacob, Blake, Riley; brothers and sisters, Gary (Kay), Don (Chris), Kay Ratchman, Dan (Paula), Ken (Julie); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike (Yung) Grones, Deb Shippy, Tom (Gloria) Grones, Jim (Missy) Grones; godchildren, Tina, Jodi and Eric; very close friend, Paul Verhagen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Les and Elaine Grones.

    A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2921 State Highway 47, Mackville, with Fr. Mark Vandersteeg officiating. A memorial gathering will take place from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

    The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Michael Geall, Dr. Philip Greipp and the staff at Appleton Medical Center.

    Jack loved his grandchildren more than anything. They were the loves of his life and he cherished every moment with them.

  • Note: Kathryn "Kay" C. (Laeyendecker) Ratchman, age 63 of Neenah, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2013, at her residence. On April 30, 1950, Kay was born in Neenah to the late Jack C. and Beatrice (Schmalz) Laeyendecker. Kay had a passion for collecting Bee figurines and d├ęcor. Finding just the right collectible at different, special moments brought her great joy and happiness. She also enjoyed shopping and dining with friends, as the friendships she made were held close to her heart. Most importantly, Kay loved watching her grandchildren grow by spending time with her daughters and their families. Kay will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit. Those who knew her well will recount her ability to connect with others. Her warm personality and genuine, good-hearted nature encouraged people to gravitate towards her.

    Kay will be dearly missed by her loving daughters: Tina (Nick) Mills and their children: Wyatt and Braylon; and Heidi (Ryan) Wienandt and their son, Parker; her brothers: Gary (Kay) Laeyendecker, Donald (Chris) Laeyendecker, Daniel (Paula) Laeyendecker, Kenneth (Julie) Laeyendecker; a sister-in-law, Cathy Laeyendecker; many nieces and nephews, Godchildren, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Laeyendecker, and a nephew, Terry Laeyendecker.

    A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, October 4, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
