Biography

  • Birth: Judy Ann Lemmens was born on September 23, 1961 in Green Bay, Brown Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: She died on March 6, 2016, at age 54.
  • Burial: She was buried in Fort Howard Memorial Park, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Judy A. Bekkers, 54, Village of Howard, died Sunday, March 6, 2016. She was born on September 23, 1961 in Green Bay to Dick and Ginny (Gillis) Lemmens.

Judy graduated from Bay Port High School, Class of 1979. On September 28, 1985, Judy married Jim Bekkers at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard. Jim and Judy adopted two girls from Kazakhstan: Allia, in 1998; and Ashley, in 2001. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and girls. Judy fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. She wanted to be there for her daughters as long as she could. I have never seen a person fight for life as Judy did; never asking: "Lord, why me?", but; "Lord, if this is the road you have for me, I will walk it for Your honor and glory."

Six years ago, Judy stepped back in to the corporate world, and was an integral part of a local trucking firm.

She was very involved at her church. For Judy, it was always a joy to be in service, and being taught and challenged by our Lord. She was an integral part of our First Impressions Ministry, manning the welcome desk in the foyer. Judy was always greeting people as they entered church for Sunday school and weekly services.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; two daughters, Allia and Ashley; her parents, Dick and Ginny Lemmens; a sister and brother and their spouses, Debbie and Ray Moore, and Ken and Tammy Lemmens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Carol Bekkers; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and their spouses, Joe and Michelle Bekkers, Jerry and Sarah Bekkers, Linda and Jerry Haske, Laurie and Steve Andrysczyk, Tom and Patty Bekkers, Ken and Holly Bekkers, Barb and Jim Gayhart; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents and an uncle.

Friends may call at Green Bay First Assembly of God, 1460 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 11. The Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Jake Mills officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

The family expresses their sincerest gratitude, for all the people, seen and unseen, from her work, our church, and family who literally spent six months planning a benefit they held for Judy at our church two weeks ago. All the donations, the baskets donated, items purchased and then donated are much appreciated. We want to also thank the thousands of people who daily, were lifting up our entire family before the Lord. We cannot even begin to say how that has helped. She will be greatly missed by many, but we know she is in no more pain, sitting in the loving arms of our Lord. Our Lord has indeed healed her.
