    June A. Keller, Appleton, age 76, on Thursday, October 22, 2009, Jesus opened his gate and she entered eternal life. She was born June 21, 1933, in Neenah, daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Hochholzer) Kemp. June married Charles Keller on October 11, 1954, in Angola, IN.

    June was very proud of raising her six children. She and Charles enjoyed camping, RVing and spending winters in Weslaco, TX. June was an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Appleton where she sang in their choir for many years and made numerous banners for them and her winter church in Texas.

    Survivors include her husband, Charles; six children: Linda (Joe) Springer, Annette Dietzen, Charles Keller Jr., Robert Keller, Steven Keller, Julie (Travis) Thyssen; four grandchildren: Joshua (Holly) Springer, Crystal (Jason) Zurn, Kelsey and Travis Dietzen; a great-grandson, Tyler Springer; a sister, Jean (Dave) Haefs; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Kemp.

    June was preceded in death by brother, James Kemp.

    The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Ave., Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah.

  • Death: Jean L Kemp died on February 16, 2017, at age 85, in Appleton, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Jean L. Haefs, of Neenah, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at The Bridges of Appleton. She was born October 24, 1931, in Neenah, daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Hochholzer) Kemp.

    Jean graduated from Neenah High School in 1949. She married Merrill Sword on October 24, 1955. He preceded her in death in 1979. Jean then married David Haefs on May 24, 1986. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2016.

    Jean was a wonderful mother and dedicated herself to raising her children. When they got older she worked in the Housekeeping department at Theda Clark Medical Center. Following her retirement she cared for her grandchildren and volunteered at her church, Christ the King Lutheran in Combined Locks, where she was a charter member. Jean was a member of the "Lady Bugs," a group of friends dedicated to outings, playing Chinese checkers and general shenanigans.

    Survivors include her five children: Deborah (Bob) St. Cyr, Mollie Sword, Monica (Ron) Sword, Kim (Bruce) Banerdt, Dean (Samantha) Sword; two step-sons: Scott Haefs, Christopher Haefs, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

    Jean was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lena Rufus; a brother, James Kemp and her sister, June Keller.

    A private memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for her church.

  • Note: David C. "Tiny" Haefs, of Neenah, age 79, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born November 14, 1936 in Appleton, son of the late Charles and Minnie (Harp) Haefs.

    David attended Appleton West High School. He was employed as a truck driver for Elm Tree Bakery/Rich's Frozen Foods for over 30 years.

    David married Jean Kemp on May 24, 1986. He had a great fondness for the SS Badger Car ferry, spending many summer days in Manitowoc watching her arrive and depart. David started riding motorcycles after his retirement and logged thousands of miles since. He was a volunteer with the Appleton Police Department Community Service Program and at Harbor House.

    David was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks.

    Survivors include his wife, Jean; two sons: Scott Haefs, Los Angeles, CA, Christopher Haefs, Arlington Heights, IL; five step-children: Deborah (Robert) St Cyr, Gladstone, MI, Mollie Sword, Gladstone, Monica (Ronald) Smith, Dunedin, FL, Kim (Bruce) Banerdt, Stoughton, WI, Dean (Samantha) Sword, Neenah; five step-grandchildren; and two step- great-grandchildren.

    A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the Salvation Army of Appleton.
