    Kroiss, Max


    Max Kroiss, Appleton, age 94, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. Max was born in Appleton on June 10, 1915, to the late Nicholes and Mary (Thurner) Kroiss and resided in Appleton his entire life. On September 18, 1937, he was united in marriage to Edna Kirk, sharing 69 years together until her death in 2007. He was a devoted and nurturing husband and father who will be deeply missed by his family. He was employed as a machinist for Automotive Supply Co. for 55 years, retiring in 1987. He was a long-time member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton, and more recently a daily worshipper at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna where he and Edna had resided.

    He is survived by four of his five children: Kathleen Bernier, Tustin, CA; Donald Kroiss, New London; Karen (Dan) Nestor, Suwanee, GA; and Linda (George) Dawson, St. Paul, MN; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ann Kirk, Appleton; brother-in-law Floyd (Sylvia) Kirk, Little Chute. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Kroiss, his brother Frank and his three sisters: Mary, Caroline, and Hildegard.

    Friends may visit directly at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, on the corner of Franklin and Morrison Streets, on Saturday, August 22, at 10 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna for their kindness, care, and concern.
