  • Note: George “Bud” F. Kerrigan Of Waupaca, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born to George G. Kerrigan and Lillian Holtz in Appleton on July 27, 1932. He attended freedom High school until the 10 th grade, before beginning a storied career with many enterprises. His occupations included but were not limited to: Western Union delivery boy in Florida, papermaker at Appleton Mills, butcher at Kroger Supermarket in Appleton, baker at Rich Brothers in Appleton, small businessman with a laundry mat, and close to 100 vending machines throughout the Appleton area, insurance salesman with Mutual of Omaha and owner operator of a 200 acre dairy farm in Waupaca. He was a proud member of the National Guard and the American Legion. For his retirement he and his wife Dody traveled the USA in a converted 1954 Flxible bus selling custom printed merchandise. They made many friends in their travels, especially in Picyune, Mississippi and Amarillo, Texas, where they sold Christmas trees His interests included old cars, history, reading and especially animals. He had many beloved cats and dogs throughout his life. He was a gifted conversationalist, with a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by two wives, one son and four grandchildren. He is survived by 8 children; Debra (Dale) Huss, Patrick (Lynn) Kerrigan, Gary (Rosaline) Kerrigan, Linda Kerrigan, Joy Schlomer, Kelly (Jim) Murphy, George T. Kerrigan and Denni (Scott) Lecus. He is further survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends and family may gather on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Faith Community Church, N2541 County Road K, at 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow. Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery.

    Doris M. "Dody" Kerrigan (nee Wicker), age 66, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Tuesday, June 16th, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born in Milwaukee on August 11, 1942, the daughter of Kenneth and Luella (Halverson) Wicker. She married George Kerrigan on November 1, 1968, in Appleton.

She is further survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John, and three grandchildren, Kelly, Kristen and Kyle.

    A Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Cathy Weigand officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

    Kersten, Irene (Wilz)


    Irene (Wilz) Kersten, 95, a longtime Green Bay resident was called Home to our Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. She was born Sept. 21, 1913, to Peter and Anna (Alft) Wilz in the Town of Harrison, Calumet County. Following her graduation from high school and business college and on the advice of her teacher, Bertha Berry, Irene took a civil service exam. Under President Roosevelt's initiative, employment offices were opened throughout the country. Irene became the first full-time employee of the Appleton Employment office.

    On May 24, 1941, she married John J. Kersten in Appleton. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1995. Irene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Letter writing was her favorite pastime, which she continued until her death.

    Irene is survived by a son, John "Jack" (Dianna Matzke) Kersten; a daughter, Kayleen (Roger) Menting; seven grandchildren, John (Geralyn) Kersten, Steve (Kim) Kersten, Mitch (Carri) Kersten, Kim (Chris) Holzschuh, Joe Menting, Michelle (Dan) Schmidt, Melinda (Chris) Lemke; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Josephine Roder; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Cecilia and Ben Dugas, Regina and Louis Captain; a brother, Clarence Wilz; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Norbert and Florence Kersten, Irvin and Coletta Kersten, Peter Kersten, George Roder.

    Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth St. and 12th Ave., Green Bay, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Donald Everts officiating. Luncheon will follow. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in Irene's name.

    The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Wayside Parkview Estates who lovingly cared for her during her stay. Thank you also to everyone who helped make Irene's long life happy and comfortable.
