  • Note: Gail R. (Turriff) Kempen, 77, of De Pere, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. She was born July 7, 1935 a daughter of the late Earl and Unise (Lusier) Turriff. On September 24, 1955 she married Norman "Butch" Kempen at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. Butch preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.

    Gail graduated from Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc. She was a nurse for over 50 years; taking care of people at St. Vincent Hospital, Manor Care, Rennes Health Center, and retiring from Brown County Mental Health Center. She was God's faithful servant and strong in her faith, and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family. She belonged to the Tuesday Night Prayer Group, was a past president of Christian Mothers at St. Boniface Church, volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital and The Wellspring, and was a Girl Scout leader.

    Gail is survived by her children: Mary (Ray) Wiercinski, De Pere, Mark (Marsha) Kempen, Luxemburg, Laura (Eric) Gerarden, De Pere, Steven (Barbara Williams) Kempen, Madison, and Beth (Craig) Knuth, Freedom; her 13 grandchildren: Charles (Lindsay Christiansen) Wiercinski, Derek ( Katrina Mihajlovich) Wiercinski, Leah Wiercinski, Amy Francis, Anina Bacon, Joshua Gerarden, Alyssa (Patrick Sweeney) Gerarden, Katie Gerarden, Sam Gerarden, Nicholas Kempen, Molleigh Kempen, Bennett Knuth and Josie Knuth; great grandchildren Ethan and Isabelle and a future great grandson in December. She is further survived by her siblings: Joan (Al) Bleser, Carol (Tom) Pilgrim, Rita Aerts, and David (Cecilia) Turriff; brother-in-law Bernard (Pat) Kempen, sisters-in-law Rose Ann (Dan) Polley and Yvonne Kempen and many nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Unise Turriff, her husband Norman "Butch" Kempen, and ten brothers and sisters-in-law.

    Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner Lourdes Ave and Suburban Dr, De Pere. Prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.     LeRoy J. Vissers, 55, of De Pere, passed away December 4, 2003, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 6, 1948, in Green Bay to Robert and Jeannette (VandenHeuvel) Vissers. After graduating from Abbot Pennigs High School in 1966, LeRoy joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He was discharged as a decorated veteran. Following his discharge, he married the former Kathryn Reinkorber on September 18, 1971, in Chilton, Wis. They celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary this past year. LeRoy worked with Western Electric until 1982 and has worked for the City of De Pere for the past 20 years. He enjoyed sharing laughs with his large family, golfing, wood crafting and the outdoors. He also treasured the time he spent with his family at the beautiful cabin he built from the ground up. He was a constant inspiration to all who crossed his path, and his zest for life lives on with his family.

    He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; three daughters and one son-in-law, Angela and Andrew Nelson, Sheboygan Falls, Molly, Milwaukee and Amanda, De Pere. He also was proudly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild in July. He is survived by four brothers, Paul (Janet), Mark (Ann), De Pere, Gary (Dell-Lyn), Martin (Pam), Green Bay; and five sisters, Bev (Pat) Hart, Barbara (Tom) Van Beek, Bonnie (Tom) Renkens, Mary Jo (John) Krohn, De Pere and Bernie (Chris) Zwettler, Madison. He is also survived by one foster brother, David (Jean) BeBeau, De Pere and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jeannette Vissers, his wife's parents, Vincent and Edna Reinkober, one brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Mary Vissers, one brother-in-law, Patrick Wood, one nephew, Joseph Van Beek, and great niece, Molly Brittnacher.

    Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Conrad Kratz, O. Praem, officiating. Military Burial Rites will be performed following the funeral. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.   • Note: Elaine "Pete" Van Sistine, 94, of De Pere passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Cota) Phieffer was born August 8, 1920. She married John "Ed" Van Sistine on February 14, 1950 in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2000.

    Pete was a loving mother and grandmother, and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren at their many sporting events. She and Ed spent many happy days at their cottage on the Bayshore in Suamico.

    Survivors include one son, Pete "PJ" (Jean) Van Sistine, De Pere; daughter, Carol (Steve) Holsten, Redding, CA; two grandchildren, Tyler and Heidi Van Sistine; and two special nieces, Judy and Joanie Peterson. She is also survived by other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ed, and her special niece and nephew, Mary Martens and Joe Smits.
