    Jean "Ma" B. Ebben, 73, De Pere, was called home early Saturday morning Nov. 17, 2007, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born June 4,1934. Jean married Richard "Dick" Ebben; he preceded her in death in 1985. Ma was a very loving and caring person who loved her family very much. She would go out of her way to help anyone in anyway that is how she was known around town as Ma Ebben. She loved to go camping at Bear Lake with her family and friends. It was 7 a.m. and you could hear the polka music and the eggs and bacon frying in the pan. It was always till after the Nascar or Packer game did we leave the campground to come home, she didn't want to leave.Ma was also known as an expert booyah cooker and always invited half the town it seemed like. She also liked to be around the car club, preparing for the big show at the fairgrounds. You could catch ma going for a ride on one of her sons' motorcycles or a ride in the hot rod. Ma had a great love for Elvis, and one of her highlights was visiting Graceland. She also enjoyed traveling to Mexico but above all spending time with her family and friends.

    She is survived by her children, Rich and Mary Ebben, Daniel Ebben, Kim and Vicki Ebben, Debra and Jt Van Boxel, Whitey and Holly Ebben, Gary Ebben and partner, Thomas Murphy; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Her parents, Earl and Margaret "Gegare" Edges; siblings, Pete and Carol Edges, Earl Edges Jr., Lee and Jean Edges.

    She was preceded by her husband, Richard and her brother, Jerry and her beloved dog, Peppy.

    Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere, until the celebration of Jean's life at 7 p.m. with Fr. Tim Shillcox O. Praem officiating.   • Note: Bernard A. "Barney" Vogels, 96, of De Pere passed away on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at Unity Hospice with his family at his side. He was born February 22, 1916 in Rudolph, WI. to the late George and Anna Vogels. On February 19, 1941 he married Dorothy Smith. They enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage together before her death in 2007. Bernard had many talents among them was his love for music. One of his greatest joys was playing his mandolin. He was a beautiful musician, having never taken a music lesson. He had a ear for music, and enjoyed this passion with his wife Dorothy. For many years they played music together in their own polka band. Bernard was a wonderful father to his 11 children. He loved children and truly enjoyed his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernard loved to feed his squirrels, and they came in bunches to eat the peanuts he had for them. Dad enjoyed his weekly visits to the D&G Restaurant, where he loved to visit and tease the wait staff. He is survived by his children, Donna (Robert) Leiterman, Mary (Norbert) Hansen, James (Gail) Vogels, Dennis (Sandy) Vogels, Gerald (Cathy) Vogels, Carol (Steve) Kepler, Judy (Jim) Van Remortel, Thomas (Ann) Vogels, Joanne (Dan) Van Camp, and Brenda (Glenn) Borths. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, his daughter and son in law, Patricia (Archie) Hepola, a daughter in law Li Lene Vogels, as well as his two sisters, Nell, and Mary, and three brothers, Willard, George, and Peter. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street in De Pere from 4 - 8pm Thursday (TODAY). Visitation will continue after 9am Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 220 S.     Dorothy A. "Dot" Vogels, 86, De Pere, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born on Nov. 10, 1920, to the late Louis and Antoinette (Thyssen) Smith in De Pere. On Feb. 19, 1941, she married Bernard Vogels, who she had 65 wonderful years of marriage to, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. Dot loved playing her accordion, cooking and being with her family, especially spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

    Dorothy is survived by her husband; 10 children, Donna (Robert) Leiterman, Mary (Norbert) Hansen, James (Gail) Vogels, Dennis (Sandy) Vogels, Gerald (Cathy) Vogels, Carol (Steve) Kepler, Judy (Jim) Van Remortel, Thomas (Ann) Vogels, Joanne (Dan) Van Camp and Brenda (Glenn) Borths, eight brothers and sisters: Carol (Paul) Bain, Joan (Jim) Rickaby, Fabian Smith, Florence (Larry) Glodoski, Janet Charles, Janice (Bill) Romenesko, Mary Ann Jensen and John (Ruth) Smith, one brother-in-law: Herb De Ruyter and many nieces and nephews.

    Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Archie Hepola; one daughter-in-law, Li Lene Vogels; two sisters, Elsie Schmidt and Rose De Ruyter; and two brothers, Neil Smith and Bud Smith.

Evelyn enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping, golfing, or traveling to Florida, She also liked to crochet, a good game of cards, and of course Happy Hour. Evelyn retired from St. Norbert College.

    She is survived by her husband Peter, her daughter Lois Backmann, her grandson Matthew (Brandi) Backmann, as well as her two great grandchildren Dominik, and Natalie. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son in law Ronald Backmann, and her two brothers Clarence (Dorothy) Minten, and Earl (Myrtle) Minten.
