Max Joseph Bohatschek

    The heavens have received another angel as Max J Bohatschek joined his heavenly Father on 8/8/06. Max was born March 13, 1922 in Appleton, WI to the late Emil Sr. and Henrietta (Wudi) Bohatschek. On 9/5/55 he married Betty Rueden at St. Denis Church in Shiocton. Together they have celebrated 50 years of love and devotion.

    Max served in World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade from 12/7/42-2/28/46. He was an ambulance driver in the Asiatic Pacific theater of operations carrying patients from the front line. He was awarded a bronze service star for the Luzon Campaign. After he was honorably discharged from the army on 2/28/46 he attended school in Chicago and worked for a printing company. Soon he moved back to Appleton and began his employment at American Can as an accountant which spanned 33 years. He truly enjoyed his job and his many coworkers that became his friends.

    Max was an excellent hunter, fisherman and bowler. He also had a golf game that made many jealous. He and his wife enjoyed a life long relationship with friends that got together often to play Sheepshead. Max also was a very loving and caring father of his children and Papa to his 2 grandchildren with whom he spent many loving moments with especially early in their lives. Max is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty and two daughters, Ann (Steve) Heser, Milwaukee and Julie (Duane) DeKeyser, Green Bay. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Nathan and Alyssa DeKeyser. Further surviving him is his sister, Lorraine (Mike) Vanderwielen, sister-in-laws: Joanne (Eugene) Meyer, Marion (Vic) Barlow and Shirley Rueden, all of Appleton and brother-in-law, Roger (Verona) Rueden of Shiocton. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Edlord, Frank, Robert and Emil Jr all of Appleton.

    A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Military rights will follow the service. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.

    The family would like to express a sincere thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff at Vallhaven Care Center who provided comfort, care and dignity to our husband, father and papa for the last 2 1/2 years. Special thanks to CNA's Renee and Renia for taking "extra" special care of Max.

She was born on June 28, 1937 in the Town of Harrison, the daughter of the late Stephen and Lucina (Seegers) Kuepper. On October 3, 1953, Carol married Robert E. Miller Sr. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a faithful member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. Robert and Carol were foster parents to 64 children over the years. She had a love for reading and was well known for her excellent baking and cooking skills. Carol was a reporter for the Press Star for many years. She served as president to the Chamber of Commerce in New London. She was part-owner of The Pantry in New London with her mother Lucina. Later, Bob and Carol started the rental business of C & B Rental and sold it to start Carol's Party Plus and then later Carol's Attic until retirement.

    Her family meant the world to her, and she looked forward to the family gatherings and eating together at local restaurants. Carol is survived by her 3 children: Robert E. Jr. (Patricia) Miller, Fremont; Cindy (Ken) Friday, New London; Jerry (Suzanne) Miller, Appleton; 8 grandchildren: Heather Schlomann (friend Kevin), Holly (Tim) Gambsky, Brett (Sarah) Miller, Nicholas Arndt, Eric (Annie) Miller, Stephanie (Jake) Miller, Nate (fiancé Trisha) Miller, Megan Miller; also 9 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters: Stephen Jr. (LaVerne) Kuepper, Kimberly; Kenneth (Ariel) Kuepper, Big Bear Lake, California; Richard (Kerry) Kuepper, Sacramento, California; Diane (Timothy) Lettau, Appleton; Douglas (Tamara) Kuepper, Milwaukee; Steven (Diana) Kuepper, Winter, Wisconsin; Corey Kuepper, Orange County, California; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law: Pat (Al) Griesbach, Stephensville; Shirley Zwicky, Texas; Judy (Jack) Mitchell, Kaukauna; Cathy (Gene) Ely, Neenah. She is further survived by dear friend Jayne Rohan, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

    Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Lucina Kuepper, sister, Janet Kuepper; mother-in-law Velma VandenBloomer.

    The Funeral Mass for Carol will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. A visitation for Carol will be held on Friday at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London from 4-7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
