Age 72, was born to eternal life on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. He was born to life on October 5, 1930 son of the late Orvel and Armella (Jacobs) Johnson. He married his best friend and true love Carol Young, September 8, 1956. In 1962 they made their home in Neenah, where they are members of St. Margaret Mary Parish. Harry served two terms including one in the Korean Conflict in the Navy as a radio operator on USS Wyandott & USS Vulcan and he also played basketball on the Vulcan team. He went to electronics and TV school in Chicago. He owned a TV sales and repair store. His friends and family enjoyed Harry's love of fun. For over 30 years Harry also provided enjoyment professionally as he owned and operated Funland Go-Karting south of Neenah off 41. He loved big band music, winning at horseshoes and baseball, he was a pitcher on various teams, and he also ran marathons. A Master Angler, Harry was the man to go trout fishing with. He would hope other fisherman would keep his streams clean. Fishing was a passion he shared with his sons, nephews and many good friends. Fishing with Harry, especially openers were an adventure and a celebration. For years Harry looked forward to Wednesdays when he'd visit friends and family, then enjoy competitive full court basketball with Shiocton Alumni who were all very dear to him and in awe of him. He was a model for us all in his attitude, wit, good sportsmanship, ethics, and generosity. He lived life fully with love, energy and joy.
Harry is a hero and a saint to his six children: Debra Sewall, Appleton Joan Johnson, Appleton Doug Johnson and friend Sandy, Appleton Mike and Heide Johnson, Neenah Sue Johnson and friend Curt Prietrzak, Appleton and Robert Johnson, Neenah. He loved and enjoyed his six grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Jessica and Jonathan Sewall, Appleton Amber Johnson, Julia and Janine Johnson, and Brandon Schifferl.
