    Baeten, Ronald J.
    Ronald J. Baeten, 56, Town of Humboldt resident, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at his home following a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1952, in Green Bay, to the late Clayton and Elizabeth (Banta) Baeten. Ron attended Preble High School, graduating in 1970. He married the former Susan Wertel on Feb. 24, 1973, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Eaton. Ron was employed by Boldt Construction until his retirement in March of 2007. He was a longtime member of Laborers Local #339.
    Ron enjoyed spending his free time with his family. Some of the most memorable times were traveling around the country with Sue and giving the grandchildren six-wheeler rides just to hear them scream with joy. Ron spent many hours in his shop and working around his hobby farm. When winter came, he always looked forward to a day on the ice with his fishing pole. Ron was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Sugarbush.

    He is survived by his wife, Sue; and their four children, Pete (Christine) Baeten, Humboldt; Stacy Baeten and her significant other, Tom Norman, Green Bay; Gina (Chad) Kurowski, New Franken; and Gregg (Bobbi) Baeten, De Pere; four grandchildren, Lauren Baeten, Megan, Cacey and Rebecca Kurowski; two sisters, Kathy (Butch) Beyer, New Franken; and Mary Baeten, Green Bay; four in-laws, Irma Lindsley, Green Bay; Judy (Tom) Boehm, Lakewood; Jim (Sheri) Wertel, Green Bay; and Tina (Jim) Gwitt, Suamico; many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph; his mother-in-law, Rita Eliason; two brothers-in-law, Kenny and Mark Wertel.

    Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Sugarbush, 5930 Humboldt Rd., until time of Mass. Parish wake service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday by Pastoral Minister Pat Ratajczak. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating.
