  • Note: Germaine H. Matzke, age 88, a longtime Green Bay and DePere resident, entered into eternal life Saturday, August 29, 2015 at a local hospital. Germaine was born June 3, 1927 in Green Bay to the late Harold and Hazel Kornowske Brice. She was a graduate of the Green Bay East High School. Germaine married Robert B. Matzke on September 6, 1948 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in DePere. She and her husband owned and operated R.B. Matzke Trucking for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbor's. She also enjoyed working in her yard. Germaine was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in DePere.

    She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law: Tim and Debbie Matzke, of Green Bay, Gail Matzke, of New Franken, one daughter and two sons-in-law: Mary and Jeff Eckert, of Mishicot, Rick (Monica) Miller, of Texas, 6 grandchildren: Brian (Stephanie) Matzke, Greg (Sonja) Matzke, Ashley Matzke and her boyfriend Mark Frisque, Amanda (Mike) Jacobs, Andy Eckert, Julie Grub, 3 great-grandchildren: Blake, Zachary, Griffin, and a forth-coming great-grandaughter Addyson in October, one sister: Joyce (Pete) Vanden Bergh, two brothers: Jerry (Doris) Brice, Ron (Carol) Brice, all of Bellevue and is further survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Blossom Krueger, Ken (Delores) Matzke, Joyce Cohen, Rosella Schroeder, Gloria (Roger) Bougie, Carol Van Lanen, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter: Kathy "Kat" Miller, one son: Joe Matzke, one brother: Dan Brice and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    It was Germaine's wish for a Mass of Christian Burial for family and her close friends. This will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in DePere with the Reverend Richard Getchel officiating. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Ribbon of Hope Foundation. The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting with arrangments.

  • Note: Dolores E. Matzke, age 87, of Ledgeview, went to her heavenly home on April 5, 2016. Dolores was born September 10, 1928 in the town of Glenmore to the late Walter and Mary (Sherlock) Kiley and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a 1947 graduate of DePere High School. Dolores married Kenneth J. Matzke on October 11, 1952 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in DePere.

    Dolores was a hardworking Irish Catholic farm wife for 63 years. She always kept the cookie jar full and ice cream in the freezer. She looked forward to any opportunity to gather family and friends in the garage party room. She loved a good game of Sheephead and always carried her coin purse, just in case.

    She is survived by her husband, Ken, and her children: Donna (Paul) Trousil, Ledgeview; David (Debbie) Matzke, Ledgeview; Dale "Curly" (Dawn) Matzke, Glenmore; Carolyn Tordeur (Rick Ledvina), New Franken; Chris (Scot) Gerarden, Athelstane; Eileen (Andy) Nicholson, Green Bay. Grandchildren: Eric Trousil, Carrie Becker; Amanda Obenhoffer, Ben and Justin Matzke; Garett and Shannon Tordeur; David and Nick Brogan; Danielle and Molly Gerarden; Ned, Danny, Bridget and Maggie Nicholson and nine great-grandchildren. Sister, Marcella (Lee) Hoffman, Ventura, California; brothers: Raymond (Kathy) Kiley, DePere; Tom (Marian) Kiley, Glenmore; and Jim Kiley, Green Bay. Dolores is further survived by her sisters-in-law: Blossom Krueger, DePere; Joyce Cohen, Wayside; Rosella Schroeder, Denmark; Gloria (Roger) Bougie, DePere, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Marie Pansier and Rosella Reedy, and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in DePere with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in DePere. Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. The Matzke family would like to express a very special thank you to Heartland Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care.     Nooyen, Kenneth R.
    Kenneth R. Nooyen, age 59, of Shiocton, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on January 6, 1949, in Bellvue, son of the late Henry and Adele (Wierschke) Nooyen. On September 25th 1992, Ken was united in marriage to Marilyn Verhagen. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Ken worked at Appleton Supply for 35 years. He had a very special place in his heart for his grandson, Tyler, and his nephew, Eli.
    Ken is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Ross; a grandson, Tyler; his stepchildren: Sue Srnka and Brian Kamps; and a step-grandson, Jacob Srnka. He is further survived by seven brothers: Clarence "Sam," Raymond (Joyce), Melvin (Geraldine), Marvin (Mary Ann), Henry John (Janice), Bernard and Rueben (Karla), five sisters: Joyce (Floyd) White, Shirley (Roger) Liebeck, Darlene (Richard) Stedl, Diane (Charles) Harper and Janet Estey, eight brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry (Rogene) Verhagen, Diane Verhagen, Rose (Dave) Stolzmen, Tom Verhagen, Betty (Gary) Vandenberg, Ron (Missy) Verhagen, Dan Verhagen, Randy (Lynn) Verhagen, Duane Verhagen and many nieces and nephews.
    Ken was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell, three sisters: Edna, Dorothy, Bernice and a brother; Elliott.
    Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at the Valley Funeral Home; visitation will continue on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Funeral service for Ken will be held at 11 on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the funeral home. Ken will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park.
    The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Phillips, his nurses and staff, and also all the staff with Affinity Hospice.

  • Note: Geraldine R. "Gerry" (Jacobs) Nooyen, 86, Pulaski, died early Friday morning, April 29, 2016, with her husband, Melvin, and many family members at her side.

    The daughter of Albert and Mamie (DeGroot) Jacobs was born January 26, 1930, in Bay Settlement. She met Melvin A. Nooyen when the two of them stood up together for two weddings and decided to tie the knot themselves on October 4, 1948. They enjoyed 67 years of a wonderful marriage. They began their farming journey in Scray's Hill and, soon after in 1955, purchased a farm in the Pulaski area. They called the family business "Nooyen Farms."

    Gerry and Melvin raised twelve children. She loved her family and doted on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed listening to country music, gardening, sewing, embroidering, and quilting. She was a big fan of professional wrestling. Gerry loved to host family gatherings, especially at the holidays, a setting at which she could show off her great cooking talents. She and Melvin traveled all over the world with their family, and especially enjoyed visiting Hawaii and New Zealand.

    In addition to her loving husband, Melvin, she is survived by ten children: Michael Nooyen, Pulaski, Patrick (Patsy Gauthier) Nooyen, Suring, Gerald (Kathy Johnson) Nooyen, Pulaski, Roger Nooyen, Pulaski, Clayton (Pauline) Nooyen, Pulaski, Richard (Marilyn Linzmeier) Nooyen, Pulaski, Robert (JoAnn) Nooyen, Seymour, Nancy (Gary) Nooyen-Wade, Pulaski, Melvin Jr. (LeAnn) Nooyen, Pulaski, and Tammy (Aaron Niespodzany) Nooyen, Seymour; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one brother: Ray (Rosemary) Jacobs, Luxemburg; one brother-in-law: Norbert Cravillion, Green Bay; one sister-in-law: Diane Jacobs, Crivitz; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by two sons: Milton and Albert Nooyen; siblings: LaVern (Cyril) Runk, Dorothy (Alvin) Falish, Orville (Eva) Jacobs, Loretta (Edward) Cashman, Rita (Cletus) Speerschneider, Shirley (Floyd) Strebel, Ethel Cravillion, and Clarence (Diane) Jacobs.

    Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, with a closing Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The visitation continues at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sebastian Church, Isaar. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Fr. Brian Belongia presiding and Dcn. Rich Matuszak assisting. Entombment will take place in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.

  • Note: I, Karla Nooyen, age 59, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 26, 2013 due to pancreatic cancer with my husband and family supporting me. I was born May 23, 1954 to Alice and Vernon Duhm. I enjoyed reading, walking and spending time with my family.

    I am survived by my husband Ruben of Seymour. Together, we had 4 children; Brianna Nooyen living at home dating Austin Abendroth, Bryce married to Amy Nooyen of Middletown PA, Troy married to Carly Nooyen of Pulaski, and Heather married to Jeff Brandt of Greenleaf. We also 4 grandchildren: Trever and Conner, sons of Troy and Carly, and Laken and Ryah, daughters of Heather and Jeff.

    I am also survived by my mom, Alice Duhm, 2 sisters: Cheryl Duhm of Black Creek, Karen (Ken) Borchardt of Brillion and brother, James Duhm of Appleton.

    I also had many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Preceded me in death are my dad, Vernon Duhm and Henry and Adele Nooyen.

    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4:00 to 8 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Roland Lindeman officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour. I ask that all acts of kindness and sympathy be directed toward a memorial fund in my name.

    I want to thank everyone for all the cards and gifts I received while being treated for cancer. I want to thank the emergency room staff at St. Mary's Hospital, the doctors: Dr. Warren, Dr. Winkler of Green Bay, and Dr. La Conte of Madison, and of course all of the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, especially the staff at the Oncology Center and the people from Unity Hospice. I can't begin to name names; there are so many. You all have been helpful and understanding even when I wasn't my best. So thank you. Everyone that waved or talked to me while I was walking, it sure helped to encourage me.
