  • Note: Kenneth Martin Scray, age 84, De Pere, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones. Ken was born to the late Cornelius (Nels) and Mabel (Kornowske) Scray on September 17, 1929 in De Pere, and was a lifelong area resident. Ken served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953. Ken worked for his parents at the Scray Stone Quarry, Milprint, and was employed by the City of De Pere in the Street Department, retiring after 25 years of service. Ken had a love of the outdoors, was an avid hunter, enjoyed bus trips and traveling to Las Vegas.

    Survivors include his fiancé, Carol Jacobe, children: Mitch (Vicki) Scray, Julie (Al) Koltz, Mark (Sandy) Scray, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by an aunt, Clara Markie of Maplewood, MN and many cousins.

    Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius (Nels) and Mabel Scray, his grandparents: William (Nels) and Nettie Scray, and Gus and Mary (Perret) Kornowske; aunts and uncles.

    Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere on Sunday, September 22, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 7:00pm with pastoral minister Steve Donovan officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Interment at Mt. Also to Heartland Hospice a special thanks to the staff, their dedication and care given to Ken and all the visitors, friends, and neighbors who helped out in any way during his stay at home.

  • Note: William J. "Bill" Van Deurzen, 79, Twin Bridge, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. He was born to John and Loretta Van Deurzen. Bill married the former Marcella Mae Heyrman on Oct. 16, 1954 in DePere.

    In 1971, Bill and Marcella moved to Monico, Wis. and operated Van's Bar & Grill until 1992. Then they moved to the Crivitz area to retire.

    Bill is survived by his two daughters, Sue Mullins, and Jean Berner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Mickey Ambrosius. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; and two sons, Ronald and William Jr.; one brother, Jack; a sister-in-law, Marie Van Deurzen; and a brother-in-law, Harold Ambrosius.

    A small gathering will be held for friends and family at the Chippewa Bar, Wausaukee, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 2 p.m.

He lived his whole life locally, granduating from Pacific High School in 1980. At Pacific High School, he met Michelle, who later bacme his wife. They were married for 20 years. Mike was preceded in death by his father, George Scray. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Michaelle, and his daughter, Jessica. He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Scray, his three sisters, Kathy(John) Ashton, Jackie(Chuck) Prest, Ellen(Adam) Ireland, one brother, Tom(Lisa) Scray, many other family members and friends. Mike was deeply loved and will be truly missed by his wife, family members, close friends, and his daughte Jessica, with whom he had a special relationship. A private graveside service will preced a memorial service at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Redlands. Donations can be made to Mike Scray Memorial Fund through the Arrowhead credit Union.
