  • Note: Clarice (Hansen) Schuler was born at Jericho 11-9-1931 to Ben & Loretta Hansen. She left us on 11-27-2011. Her husband Marvin was born on 9-20-1927 in Elkhart Lake to Milton and Selma Henschel Schuler. They were married on November 13, 1948. He joined her in Heaven on 2-18-2012. I'm sure they are busy playing cards with their many relatives whom have preceded them to their eternal reward.

    They raised their sons Steve (Elaine) and Mark (Kay) Schuler in Kiel, lived in Plymouth, and retired in Florida.

    Besides their sons, they are survived by 5 grand daughters: Amy (John) Hoffmann, Stacey (Jeff) Lecher, Sara (Dave) Brunette, Tiffany (Tommy) Jennings & Amber Schuler (Mike Sbalchiero); ten great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Elisabeth (Hansen)Thiel and brothers-in-law: Dave Thiel and Ed Heckman. Preceeded by sisters: Chris (Bob Skufca) and Gladys Heckman. Their request was to be cremated. Burial will follow in a private ceremony in Wisconsin.

Milton Schuler

  • Death: He died on December 31, 1963, at age 63, in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Milton Schuler, 63, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, died Tuesday in Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. Mr. Schuler, a former farmer and carpenter, who lived north of Sheboygan County Marsh, had been ill for a month. A native of the Town of Rhine, he was born Feb. 11, 1900, the son of the late Henry and Mary Schuler. He attended Dewey District School and Married Selma Henschel, April 30, 1927, in the town of Russell . For 13 years the couple farmed in Rhine, moving to the Russell area north of county March 23 years ago, where Mr. Schuler engaged in carpentry work. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, town of Russell; the Hermitage Sportsmen's Club, and the Redmen Lodge of St. Anna.
    Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Heckmann (Gladys), R. 1, Newton; a son, Marvin, Kiel; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Meta Mertens, Kiel, and Mrs. Joseph Fahres, Sheboygan, and two brothers, Walter, Plymouth and Fred, Manitowoc.
    Funeral services will be held in St. Paul's Church, Russell, with the Rev. Milton Kading, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

  • Death: Henry Schuler died on June 12, 1926, at age 63, in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Henry Schuler, well known resident of the town of Rhine, passed away at his home Saturday afternoon after a protracted illness of five months' duration. Mr. Schuler was born Dec. 3, 1862, in the town of Sheboygan Falls. He was married to Miss Marie Stallmann in 1885 and since that time he was engaged in farming in the town of Rhine.
    He is survived by the widow, six sons, William and George of town Rhine, Walter and Otto of Elkhart Lake, Milton and Fred at home; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar Mertens, Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Louis Polster, town of Russell, and Miss Anita at home; two sisters, Mrs. Selma Gordan, Hollywood, Cal., and Mrs. William Londow of Milwaukee. One daughter, Ella, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
    Deceased was an active member of the Sons of Veterans and also of the Modern Woodmen lodge Elkhart camp No. 2805, of Elkhart Lake.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the home after which the body will be taken to the reformed Church at Elkhart Lake where the regular services will be conducted. Rev. A Hammon officiating. The Elkhart Lake band will lead the cortege to the Elkhart Lake cemetery where interment will be made.

Marie Stahlmann

  • Note: Mrs. Mary Schuler of Elkhart Lake, 79 years old, passed away this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Mertens of Kiel, after an illness of two weeks. She is the former Mary Stahlmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stahlmann, and was born in town Rhine on March 13, 1864 on the homestead which is now occupied by a grandson, Howard Schuler. On March 12, 1885, she was married to Henry Schuler and they resided on the homestead located north east of Elkhart Lake. Mr. Schuler preceded his wife in death on June 12, 1926 and since that time she has been living with her children.
    She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Meta) Mertens of Kiel; Mrs. Louis (Katie) Polster of Stockbridge; Miss Anigta Schuler of Sheboygan; six sons, William, George, Otto and Walter of Elkhart Lake; Milton of Town Russell; Fred of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Jacob Diefenthaler of New Holstein 28 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at the Roeder Funeral home and in the community Evangelical and Reformed Church in Elkhart Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Otto Schieb will officiate.

William Schuler

  • Note: Walter Schuler, 85, formerly of 440 N. Milwaukee St., Plymouth died Thursday afternoon at Rocky Knoll, where he had been a patient two months. He was born Sept, 5, 1886 in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuler. On Oct. 11, 1910, he married Lillie Brickheimer in the town of Russell. The couple resided in Elkhart Lake before moving to Plymouth in 1960. Mr. Schuler was employed at the Laun Lumber and Furniture Co. and at the Farmers Mercantile in Elkhart Lake until retiring in 1969, and was a Plymouth park caretaker from 1962 to 1966. He was a member of the Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake, the Elkhart Lake Fire Department for over 50 years and served as village constable at Elkhart Lake for five years several years ago.
    Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Miss Margaret Schuler of Chicago, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Kretsch of Crystal Lake and Mrs. June Staples of Plymouth; one son, Elroy of Waupaca; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, one brother, Fred, Manitowoc and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Fahres of Sheboygan and Mrs. Oscar Mertens of Kiel. He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Born Sept 2, 1888, in the town of Rhine, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuler, he was married on July 24, 1913, to Hulda Voland at Kiel. He farmed in the town of Rhine with his brother William on the farm known as the Schuler Bros. farm. In 1944 the family moved to Plymouth where he was employed with Capelle's Home Appliances. He was a member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church at Plymouth, and a member of the Hub City Aerie, No. 1312, F.O.E.
    Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Schwartz and Mrs. Stanley (Ruth) Seurer of Plymouth; one son, Howard, of the town of Rhine; five grandchildren; three brothers, Walter and Milton of Elkhart Lake and Fred of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Louis Polster of the town of Russell, Mrs. Oscar Mertens of Kiel and Mrs. Joseph Fahres of Sheboygan. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

  • Note: Louie G. Polster, 77, of Kiel, a retired farmer, died Sunday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.
    Born February 24, 1892 in the Town of Russell, he was a son of the late Otto and Helena Bunge Polster. He married the former Kattie Schuler of the Town of Rhine on June 28, 1919.
    The couple farmed in the Town of Russell and later at Stockbridge, moving to Kiel in 1953. Mrs. Polster died in July 1961.

    Mr. Polster had resided at the Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, for five years before entering the hospital several weeks ago.

    He was a World War I veteran and a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, and American Legion Post 124, New Holstein.

    Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Adeline)Wagner of Kiel, Mrs. Clarence (Marion ) Wagner and Mrs. Earl (Kathleen) Otto, both of St. Nazianz; seven sons, Gordon of New Holstein, Allan of Wauwatosa, Henry, DeLyle and Louis Jr., all of Kiel and Clarence of Sheboygan Falls; 30 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Jerry Staus of Elkhart Lake. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.

    Funeral services will be at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, with the Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery.
