  • Note: Jeanette Isabelle Ott, age 82, of the town of Brillion, passed away comfortably on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her home with her children by her side. Jeanette was born on January 16, 1932, daughter of the late Ray and Mary (Marx) Halbach of Sherwood. She married Leo M. Ott on February 5, 1963. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2002. She enjoyed life with Leo, especially their entire married life on the family farm until he retired. Jeanette worked at Van Abel's Supper Club as the pastry baker for many years and enjoyed that time until she retired at the age of 78. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great grandson that is due in May. Jeanette was always known for her kind heart and generosity. She would help anyone who needed it, often with her wonderful cooking and kind words.

    Survivors include her children; Robert (Michelle) Coisman, Cathy (Bill) Knifke, Chris (Ken) Kelch, her grandchildren; Robert (girlfriend Krystal) Coisman, Justin (girlfriend Brittany) and Derek Knifke, Nathan Wickerscheim, Chad and Troy Coisman; her siblings; Al "Crash" Halbach, Rosie Propson, Annie Olson, Sr. Margaret Mary Halbach, Ray (Marilyn) Halbach; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mary Halbach, her husband, Leo, her children Don Coisman, JoAnn Coisman, Mary Theresa Coisman, and Susan Coisman, her siblings, William (Joyce) Halbach, Donald (Ethel) Halbach, Lucille (Adrian) Mader, Eugene "Smokey" (Joan) Halbach, Jerry Halbach, and James "Butch" Halbach, in-laws, Norb Propson, Neil Olson, and Mert Halbach and other in-laws.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6 at Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. The Rev. Mike Betley will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will conclude the visitation on Wednesday evening.   • Note: Norbert Gregor Propson, age 85, of Chilton passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, after a short illness. He was born in Kloten on January 27, 1927 to Appolonia (Joas) and Joseph R. Propson. He was a 1944 graduate of Chilton High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 stationed in Germany. He also served as Register of Deeds for Calumet County for many years. Norb was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Chilton for 35 years, retiring in 1990. On October 26, 1957 he married Rosemary Halbach at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood. Together they raised seven beautiful children. In his younger years, Norb was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed listening to Polka music and following the Packers and Brewers. Norb enjoyed reading and watching his favorite TV shows, but most of all he enjoyed visits with his family. He was a life-long member of Good Shepherd Parish where he served on the parish council and as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 66-year member of the Knights of Columbus. Norb is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rose, and their seven children; Ellen (Jack) Kane, Menifee, CA; Mary (Tom) Spaeth, Chilton; Keith (Tricia) Propson, Kaukauna; Lori (Joe) Krause, Chilton; Lisa (Matt) Schaefer, Madison; Lynn (Ken) Van Oss, Chilton; and Debra (Eric) Iverson, Watertown. He is further survived by 14 Grandchildren; Jerod (Michele) Spaeth, Justin (Michele) Spaeth, and Jenna Spaeth; Jenna, Alex, Alyssa, and Jonathan Propson; Andrew and Annie Krause, Angeleah, Isaac, and Maria Schaefer; and Adam and Emma Iverson. He had one great-granddaughter Claire Spaeth. His sister Stella Gerner and brother Gordon (June) Propson also survive him along with his brothers and sisters in-law; Harold Heiner, Joyce Halbach, Audrey Mader, Al Halbach, Jeanette Ott, Eugene Halbach, Mary Ann Olson, Sister Margaret Mary Halbach, and Ray (Marilyn) Halbach. Norb is futher survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Raymond and Mayme Halbach, and two grandsons, Nicholas Iverson and Lucas Van Oss; his siblings Clarence Propson, Esther Heiner, and Marie Perl; his brothers and sisters in-law, Margaret Propson, Elmer Perl, Syl Gerner, Bill Halbach, Don and Ethel Halbach, Ceil and Adrian Mader, Mert Halbach, Leo Ott, Joan Halbach, Neil Olson, Jerry Halbach, and James Halbach. Funeral services with Military rites will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish in Chilton with Father Bob Kollath and Deacon Dennis Bennin presiding. Interment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton on Tuesday, April 3, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials are appreciated in the name of Norbert G.     Four area youths died in a three car accident Thursday night on State 55 two miles south of Kaukauna. Gary St. Louis, 18 and Shirley Kirvan, 16 both of Sherwood would have been seniors this fall at Kaukauna High School. James Wagner, 18 of Sherwood graduated last year from Kaukauna. Gerald Halbuch, 18 of Sherwood also died in the accident.

  • Note: Roger P. Geiser, age 79, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at West Haven in Brillion. He was born November 29, 1931 in Charlestown, son of the late Martin & Magdalena (Gruber) Geiser. Roger married Lois Thiel on October 26, 1954 at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. After marriage, he served his country in the United States Navy from 1956-1958. Roger worked for Hingiss Implement in Chilton and the Chilton Plating Company until retiring in 1993. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Knight, Charlestown Chapter. Roger was a quiet man who, in the summer, spent morning until night in his garden. During the winter, Roger was content cracking hickory nuts in his free time. Roger was devoted to his family and always enjoyed going to his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a strong man of faith who loved his church and loved being able to volunteer his time to make the church stronger. Survivors include his wife: Lois; his children: Marty (Jenna) Geiser of DeForest; Myron (Ann) Geiser of Kaukauna; 5 grandchildren: Garrett, Megan, Grace, McKayla & Erin; a brother: Alfred Geiser; 2 sisters: Loretta Keuler, Evelyn (Don) Konen; and a brother-in-law: Paul Kees. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son: Larry; a grandchild: Bradley Geiser; and 8 siblings. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2011 and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will take place at the close of visitation on Friday evening. The family would like to thank all those who provided such loving care to Roger, especially the staff of West Haven in Brillion.

  • Death: She died on May 13, 2014, at age 73.
  • Note: Marion Laura Thiel, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, with her loving husband Lenny at her side. Marion was born in Mackville on October 7, 1940 to the late John and Clara (Griesbach) Schmidt. On October 6, 1962 she married Leonard Thiel. On their first date, Lenny took Marion to the stock car races; they were devoted fans for the next 55 years. She loved all sports, football, baseball, basketball and NASCAR, she was always keeping Lenny up to date on important events in the world of sports. Marion enjoyed snowmobiling on her Arctic Cat and listening to classic country music, especially Daniel O'Donnell as she was a member of his fan club. One of her favorite pastimes was to take bus tours, she really enjoyed Audrey's Group, and her all time favorite tour was to Yellowstone National Park. Marion loved to visit friends in Branson Missouri, classic cars (especially the '57 Chevy) and cooking for friends and family. She touched many, and will be missed by all who knew her.

    She is survived by her husband, Lenny, brothers and sister; Raymond Schmidt, Melvin (Mary) Schmidt, John Schmidt, Millie (Don) Weyenberg, Charlie (Ann) Schmidt and Robert (Barb) Schmidt, sisters and brothers in law; Judy Schmidt, Lois Geiser, Leroy (Verne) Thiel, Lloyd (Mary) Thiel, Lucy (Gary) Janke and Les (Joan) Thiel. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father in law, brothers; Donald Schmidt and Frances Schmidt, sisters and brothers in law; Joann Schmidt, Lawrence (Erie) Thiel Jr., Elaine Thiel, Rodger Geiser and Marge Thiel.

    A funeral mass for Marion will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 State Hwy 47, Mackville with the Rev. Dan Felton officiating. Friends and family may call at the church from 9:00AM until the time of service.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marion's name has been established.

    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at AMC, especially Dr. Swanson and the nurses in the ICU; both Mary's, Amy, Kristi and Amber for your wonderful care of Marion.
