    Andrew J. Schmidt, 83, of route 1, Antigo, a longtime resident of Langlade county, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Pearl) Lenzner of Phlox.
    Mr. Schmidt was born Nov. 8, 1887, in Manitowoc, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt. In 1912 he came to Phlox, and was a dairy farmer in the town of Norwood from 1914 until his retirement in 1952 when he moved to Antigo.
    On Oct. 26, 1914, he was married in Phlox to the former Iva Johnson, and the couple marked their golden wedding anniversary in 1964. Mrs. Schmidt died Dec. 4, 1967.
    Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George (Grace) Ison of Crandon, Mrs. Lenzner and Mrs. Bernard (Gladys) Echardt of Tigerton; three sons, Ralph of Antigo, Lawrence of Kimberly and LeRoy of New London; two brothers, Louis of Valders and Joseph of Arizona; 37 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
    Two sisters, Margaret and Ann, and four brothers, John, George, Albert and Peter, preceded him in death.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Phlox, of which he was a member. The Rev. Robert Rhyner will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph's church cemetery.
    Friends may call at the McCanless-Zobel and Bradley funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. A parish wake service will be held at 8 o'clock Friday evening.

Iva Pearl Johnson

    Mrs. Andrew J. Schmidt, 75, of 430 Deresch Street, Langlade County resident since childhood, died Monday at the Langlade County Memorial hospital.
    Formerly of Phlox, she was born Iva Johnson August 22, 1892, in Waupaca County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmidt. On Oct. 26, 1914, she was married at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Phlox to Andrew Schmidt. The couple operated a farm in the Phlox area until moving to Antigo following retirement in 1952. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1964.
    Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic church.
    Surviving besides her husband are three daughters and three sons, Mrs. George (Grace) Ison of Crandon, Mrs. Ralph (Pearl) Lenzner of Phlox, Mrs. Bernard (Gladys) Eckardt of Tigerton, Lawrence of Kimberly, Ralph of Antigo and LeRoy of New London.
    Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Mrs. William Falk of Phlox, Mrs. Clemens Bemis of route 2, Mrs. Archie Krueger of Antigo and George of Arkansas; 34 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
    Two brothers, William and Clifford, are deceased.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Phlox with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bernard Geimer will officiate.
    Friends may call at the McCandless-Zobel, and Bradley funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday and the rosary will be said at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday night.
