She is survived by two sisters, Donna Hay of Florida and Florence Doverspike of Wisconsin; a brother, Jerome Luebke of Wisconsin; seven children, Marjorie Crane of Wisconsin, David of Santa Rosa, Thomas (Robin) of Delaware, Richard (Virginia) of Ohio, Mary Rogan of New Mexico, Daniel (Kristen) of Huntington Beach, and Sherrill Kearney of Sebastopol; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grand-children. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Robert and one sister, Eunice Novak of Wisconsin. Her parents were George and Agnes (Vogt) Luebke of Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Dorothy was the oldest of five children, born in her grandparent's bedroom in Town of Buchanan, Wisconsin on May 8, 1919. She graduated from Kaukauna High School and from Oshkosh Business College, worked at the Institute of Paper Chemistry at Lawrence College, then married. During her husband's 20-year Army career they lived in Germany, Washington State, Texas and California, finally settling in Riverside in 1956, in part due to the excellent school system. In Riverside she worked for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, then later at UCR in the Architect's and Engineer's Office. She was a member of the Society of Military Widows (Chapter 13), a docent for the Riverside Heritage House, and volunteered as a Memorial Honor Detail Dispatcher for the Riverside National Cemetery. Originally a Roman Catholic, late in her life she began attending services and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dorothy was proud of her children, all of whom received college degrees, including two receiving PhD's, one JD and several MS's. She also has one grandchild with a PhD, another with a Doctorate of Medicine, and several more MS's. She loved gardening and was especially proud of her extensive rose garden and lush pomegranate trees. She loved to travel, both around the United States as well as to Holland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Spain, Peru, and Morocco. A viewing for immediate family members was held on December 26, 2015. Memorial services will be held in May 2016 with details to be announced at a later date.   • Note: Norman Edward Kasten, age 94, died peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 with his family at his side.

    Norman was born August 10, 1921 in the Town of Black Creek the son of the late William and Anna (Volkmann) Kasten. Following his education Norman served his country in the United State Army during WWII, from August 1942-November 1945 in the South Pacific. He was united in marriage to Betty Anne Brower on August 19, 1950 at the First English Lutheran church in Appleton. Norman was a Dairyman in the Black Creek area for a number of years and was formerly employed with Fox Tractor and Vic Timm construction and retired from Gilbert Paper in 1986. Norman was a charter member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Appleton serving on the church council, the Fox Valley Lutheran Board, taught Sunday school and volunteered on the church grounds committee.

    Norman is survived by his wife, Betty of 65 years, a daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Marx, a son, Brian Kasten, grandchildren, Jason (Summer) Marx; Greg Marx (Kim DeBraal); Tracy Kasten (Mike Suess) and Brenda (Josh) Vandenberg; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Delaney Marx and Isaac Vandenberg and a sister-in-law, Ione Murphy, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, John and Lucille Brower, sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and William Schulzendorf; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Katherine Kasten and a niece and a nephew.

    The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church 530 W. Parkway Blvd Appleton, with the Rev. Mark P. Henke officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Norman's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Military Honors will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

  • Note: Donald E. Schultz, age 87, went to heaven on Thursday, November 21. Don had a deep and abiding faith. He had exceptional knowledge of the Bible, was a hard worker and a loving and caring family man.

    Don was born on April 20, 1926 in Greenville, Wisconsin. He was the second of nine children born to William and Ella (Volkman) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville. Don worked at the gas station in Greenville, Fox Tractor Company until it closed and at A & E Equipment.

    On June 16, 1956 he married Elaine Lohrenz at Center Emmanuel United Methodist Church. They were happily married for 42 years and raised three daughters, Deb, Sue and Sally. Family was important to Don and there were many family outings and vacations. He especially enjoyed several trips to North Dakota. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren, Brandon, Josh and Jessica. A sadness in his life was when Elaine passed away on April 1, 1999.

    Don was a member of Center Emmanuel United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a long time Sunday School teacher for the adult class. In addition, he was church treasurer for many years. He and Elaine were involved in adult fellowship group, Don played dartball and attended men's breakfast.

    Don enjoyed gardening and had a huge garden where he spent many hours. Don and Brandon fed birds together and took care of his apple orchard. Family reunions were a special time for him. He liked talking to people. Animals were a big part of Don's life. The family had pet dogs and cats. He helped his father-in-law milk cows and fed the many barn cats. Don enjoyed the simple things in life, Sunday dinners with the family, jigsaw puzzles, talking about farming, spending time with family and friends, and reading-especially his Bible, newspapers and farming magazines.

    Don is survived by his daughters, Deb (Rich Ralph), Sue and Sally of Hortonville; grandchildren Brandon, Josh and Jessica; sisters Dorothy Defferding, Caroline Schroeder, Bernice (Don) Vanderloop, Barbara Herzfeldt, Mary Ellen (Earl) Schroeder, Janice (Don) Schroeder, Lynn (Bob) Spaulding and brother Gerald (Loretta); brother-in-law Bob (Donna) Lohrenz; many cousins; nieces; nephews and friends. He was preceeded in death by his wife Elaine; parents; brother-in-laws Keith Defferding, Wally Schroeder, and Clarence Herzfeldt.

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 am at Center Emmanuel United Methodist Church, N3896 Hample Road, Black Creek (Town of Center) with Rev. Loretta Waegli officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Wichmann Funeral Home, Superior Street Location from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Interment will be at Ellington Union Cemetery.

    Don was a special man and will be missed by all who knew him.

  • Note: Hortonville - Caroline L. Schroeder, age 89, of Hortonville, passed away following a brief illness. The Lord took Caroline's hand and lead her home on Wednesday, January 17. 2018. She was born on February 25, 1928, baptized on March 25, 1928, and confirmed in 1941. She was united in marriage with Wallace Schroeder in 1948. Caroline was a devoted Christian and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dale.

    Beloved mother of Joanne (Warren) Mueller; Betty (Richard) Basarich; Gail (Timothy) Mayo; Frank (Debbie) Schroeder; Paul (Lou Ann) Schroeder; Michael (Debbie) Schroeder; Daniel (Brenda) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Deb Schroeder. She is further survived by 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and many special relatives.

    Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Schultz, her husband Wallace, her son Jim, and many special family members.

    Funeral services for Caroline will be held on Saturday, January, 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dale with Rev. William Finn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

    The family wishes to thank Kindred Hearts, Greenville for their compassion and care.
