  • Note: Dewey E Decker...died early this morning in a local hospital. He was born Apr.22 1989 in Green Bay to the late Henry and Lydia Decker. He was a graduate of West High School in 1916. He enlisted in the US Navy in November, 1917 and served on the US transport ship USS Santa Barbara and made 4 round trips to France. E married Agnes Matzke on Oct 7, 1919,...Mr Decker was employed by the Chicago and North Western Railroad for 42 years, switchman for 34 years and yardmaster for 8 years. He retired in 1961 and conducted a reupholstry business at home for 21 years. Mr. Decker served for 8 years on the Green Bay City Council and the last two years as vice mayor. Survivors include his wife, Agnes, three sons, Dewey Decker, Ellison C Decker, Melvin J. Decker, one sister, Mrs. Harry (Laona) Wood..Funeral ...at Annunciation Church...Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

  • Note: Mrs. John (Lydia) Dollar, 89, 409 Huron St, DePere, died Saturday evening in a local hospital after a short illness. The daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude Matzke was born July 26, 1890 in DePere and lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the St. Mary altar Society, the DePere Golden Age Club and the Glenmore Homemakers for many years. Survivors include one son, John Dollar, DePere, five daughters, Ms. Evelyn Dollar, Milwaukee, Ms. Geneveve Dollar, ad Mrs. Robert (Florence ) O'Brien, both of Green Bay, Mrs. Tony (Agnes) Peters, Denmark, Mrs. Wilbert (Marion) Van Rens, DePere, 13 grand children, 18 great grand children, one sister Mrs. Dewey (Agnes) Decker. Green Bay, one brother, Clem Matzke, DePere. Mrs. John Dollar was preceded in death by her husband John, and one son, Henry...Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

    Mary E. Albers, 90, died peacefully Friday morning, February 8, 2013.

    She was born in Green Bay on September 16, 1922, to the late Henry and Mary (Johnson) Gomach.

    On January 25, 1947, she married Eugene J. Albers at the Cathedral in Green Bay.

    Mary enjoyed golfing, bowling and raising her six children. Mary and Gene spent many happy summers at their trailer on the Cloverleaf Lakes. After enjoying the holidays with family, they would winter in Florida or the Southwestern States. They discovered Las Vegas on one of their winter trips and lived there for 14 years before moving back to Green Bay.

    She is survived by two daughters: Carole Bailey, Milwaukee, and Beth (Dave) McIntyre, Tucson, Arizona; four sons: Mike Albers (Paula Spurlock), Waco, Texas, Tom (Debbie) Albers, Dick (Terry) Albers, and Steve (Laurie) Albers, all of Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Justin (Karen) Bailey, Brian (Chery) Albers, Maggie (Nick) Hemauer, Dan Albers, Tara (Cha) Torres & Amy Albers, Leon Albers, Michael and Eugene McIntyre; Deena Perleberg; six great grandchildren: Angelica and Yesica Larsen, Julia and Caleb Hemauer, and Owen and Parker Bailey; Alex Perleberg; four sisters-in-law: Bernice Gomach, Green Bay, Helen Van Vonderen, De Pere, Marie Denissen, Green Bay, Blanche (Jerry) Eckers, Clintonville, and Grace Albers, De Pere.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, two brothers: Henry Gomach & Robert Gomach; two sisters: Alice Heesaker & Gertrude Greenwood; many in-laws and almost everyone else she knew.

  • Note: Jerome Christian Eckers, 90, Green Bay, passed away to his eternal home on Friday, December 16, 2016. He was born on September 12, 1926, in Milwaukee to Milton and Lillian (Haslow) Eckers. Jerry and his brother, Don, were identical twins and shared a special bond throughout life. On July 19, 1947, he married Blanche Albers at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere and together they raised six children.

    Jerry was devoted to his family, loved hunting, fishing and sports, and he especially loved the Green Bay Packers. He thoroughly enjoyed living on Pine Lake in Clintonville after retirement. During his years in Clintonville, Jerry served the parish of St. Rose in many capacities and was dedicated to his faith. He served his country during the Korean War. Jerry retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a rural letter carrier in New Franken.

    Jerry is survived by his wife, Blanche; his children, Kathy Ollmann (Jim), Tom Eckers (Cathy), Terry Eckers (Jean), Jill Van Veen (John), Tim Eckers (Kelly) and Todd Eckers (Patty); grandchildren, Jennifer, Julie, Laura, Nick, Stacey, Jamie, April, Erin, Meaghan, Charlie, Stan, Wendy, David; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Denissen and Grace Albers.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald (Betty); father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Harriet Albers; in-laws, Norb and Helen VanVonderen, Fran and Kate DuPuis, Clem Albers, Gene and Mary Albers, Robert Denissen, Robert and Adele Collaer.

    Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Patrick C.     The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Elder Care and the hospice team for their loving care and support during this time. They made the end of life process for dad more gracious.

  • Note: Helen C. (Albers) Van Vonderen, 101, passed into the hands of our Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She was born May 11, 1914, the first child of George and Harriet (Denissen) Albers. On November 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to Norbert Van Vonderen at St. Boniface Church, De Pere. Together they raised their daughter Mari.

    Helen was born, raised, and lived her entire life in De Pere until January 2016 when she moved to an apartment at St. Paul Villa, Kaukauna. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and meticulous homemaker, cook, and seamstress. Helen worked in retail in the De Pere area including at the White Store in the shoe department. She will be remembered for her kindness, determination, and her "sweetness and spunk" throughout her life. Helen also spent a number of years volunteering at the De Pere Christian Outreach, enjoying Seroogy's candies, and contributions as a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Church, De Pere.

    Helen is survived by her grandchildren: Nina (Aaron) Penning and Michael (Julie) Pienta; son-in-law Marty Root; great granddaughters: Ariauna, Zoe, Lucy and Ruby; sisters: Marie Denissen and Blanche (Jerry) Eckers; and sister-in-law Grace Albers. In addition, she is survived by many loving nieces and nephews from both the Albers and Van Vonderen family and numerous friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norbert; daughter Mari Root; sisters: Katherine (Francis) DuPuis and Adele (Robert) Collaer, brothers: Clem Albers and Eugene (Mary) Albers: brother-in-law Robert Denissen; father and mother-in-law Frank and Ann Van Vonderen; and the rest of Norbert's family.

    Family and friends may visit from 8:30 to 10:00 am on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Church, De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at the church with Fr. Judah Pigon, MF officiating. Burial will be next to her husband Norbert in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
