    VerBruggen Sr., Donald "Boogie"


    Donald "Boogie" VerBruggen Sr., 79, Abrams, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 of natural causes. He was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Pound to the late Leonard and Mary (Van Erman) VerBruggen. Don was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Don had worked at Frank O. Zeise Construction for a number of years until he retired. He also farmed, and loved doing so. Don enjoyed the outdoors whether it be cutting wood or filming deer. Don liked going for coffee in the morning with friends, and then afterwards he liked to go see if the construction on the highway was being done correctly. He also liked to work in his garage. Don was always rebuilding something.

    He is survived by his children; Jeff VerBruggen, Steve (Pam) VerBruggen, Linda (Howie) Elliott, Ronnie VerBruggen, Greg (Kathy) VerBruggen, and Donald (Dawn) VerBruggen Jr. Don is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, his brother Norbert (Jean) VerBruggen, his sister Audrey Wichman, and many nieces and nephews, and his special friend Pat Peterson.

    He was preceded in death by his two children; Barbara Jean, and Connie, as well as his grandson Trent, and 3 brothers and 1 sister.

    Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Avenue and Suburban Drive, De Pere, after 9 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, until the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.     Jean Ver Bruggen, 80, Allouez resident, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1936, the daughter of Matthew I. and Gladys (Detrie) Guns. On August 28, 1954, she married Norbert C. Ver Bruggen, her soulmate and the love of her life. Jean worked outside the home early in her career but her greatest joy was simply being with Norbert and doing her most important job--making their home and raising their family. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her friends, traveling, crafting, shopping at rummage sales, reading, and gardening. She was an emotionally strong and mentally tough woman and a beloved mother. She will be forever remembered as a devoted wife, mom, and "Granny."

    Surviving are her loving husband Norbert, children: David (Mary) Ver Bruggen, Dan (Shirley) VerBruggen, and Dorene (Richard) Jette; grandchildren: Robert (Jaclyn) and Michael (girlfriend Melanie) Ver Bruggen, Amanda (fiancé Adam Van Eperen) and Ryan (fiancé Stefanie Prell) VerBruggen, Ka and Ashley Jette; and great-grandson, Harrison Ver Bruggen. Jean is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (John) Hennes; sisters-in-law, Angie Guns and Lucille Ver Bruggen; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald; sister, Jeri; parents-in-law, Leonard (Mary) Ver Bruggen; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Justin Ver Bruggen, William (Darlene) Ver Bruggen, Marie (George) Basten, Donald (Millie) Ver Bruggen, Audrey (John) Wickman, Francis Ver Bruggen, best friend Arlyne Beerntsen, and other dear relatives.

    Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2 and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church,341 Wilson Avenue Green Bay before the service at 11:00 a.m.

    In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, a donation to the Heart Association is requested.

  • Note: Audrea L. (Ver Bruggen) Wichman, 83, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2011, at home. Born on Aug. 16, 1928, in Pound, she is the daughter of the late Leonard J. and Mary (Van Ermen) Ver Bruggen. Audrea worked for a number of years as a security guard in the tower at Fort Howard Paper before she purchased and operated Audrea's Tap. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of the Packers, her joy of cooking, but more than anything, she loved time spent with her grandchildren.

    Audrea is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn (Mike) Demrath, Oconto; and Lisa (Wayne) Hansen, Krakow; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Leonard Timmer, Michael Timmer, Green Bay; and James (Vicki) Timmer, St. Cloud, Fla.; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, Norbert (Jean) Ver Bruggen, Green Bay; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George Kolstad, Warren Timmer and John Wichman; one son, Kevin Timmer; 10 brothers and sisters; six great-grandchildren.

    Visitation at MALCORE (WEST) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason Street, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation to continue Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral with The Rev. Kenneth J. De Groot, O. Praem officiating. Burial in Fort Howard Memorial Park.

    In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
