    She was born in Green Bay, WI, on October 12, 1935, to the late Reginald and Lena (Baenen) McGuire.

    Katie attended high school for 3 years at Algoma High School before graduating from Green Bay East High School in 1953.

    She worked at the Red Owl store as a cashier before marrying the late James Van Derven in February 1955. They enjoyed 7 wonderful years together before his death in 1962. She owned a small grocery store on Kurtz Avenue in Green Bay where she sold penny candy and Coca Cola in the old fashioned bottles. Katie enjoyed playing cards and Bingo while raising her family. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, bowling, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers play and playing the penny slots! Katie traveled to her favorite destination, Las Vegas, 7 times, including trips with each one of her children.

    She worked in the Deli at Jubilee grocery and was also a food service worker for 18 years at Green Bay Public Schools, retiring in 2006.

    Katie will be remembered for her sense of humor, she loved to laugh and make others laugh.

    Katie is survived by her 5 children and 5 grandchildren all of Green Bay, son, Donald (Penny) Albers; daughter, Deborah (Kelly) Falish and their son, Brandon; son, Daniel (Connie) Albers and their daughter, Elizabeth; son, Darrin (Tracy)Albers and their daughter, Brooke; daughter, Dianne (John) Campbell and their 2 daughters, Jessica and Hannah. She is further survived by her sisters, Patricia Klika and Mary (Bill) Simon; and her brother, Thomas (Judy) McGuire and former husband, Robert Albers.

    She is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Marie) McGuire, James McGuire, William (Nancy) McGuire and Michael McGuire.

    Friends may call from 9:30am until 10:45am on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 312 Victoria St, Green Bay. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
