Mary worked at the Appleton Yacht Club before she was united in marriage to Joseph Niesen, her true soul mate. They enjoyed many adventures and road trips together. She also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, square dancing and camping. Laughter came easy to Mary.

    She is survived by her brother; Roger (Nancy) Miller, a sister; Patricia Winter, her stepsons; Paul, Tim (Gerda) and Brad Niesen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joseph and a sister Joan Duwe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at HOLY CROSS (309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna) with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 10:30 until the time of services at the Church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Niesen, Joseph H.
    Joseph Henry Niesen, age 79, of Kaukauna, passed away Saturday evening, April 18, 2009, at Appleton Healthcare Center. Joseph was born on November 8, 1929, in Appleton, to John and Marie (Schubert) Niesen. Joseph was united in marriage to Mary J. Miller. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Packers and the Brewers. Joseph was very hardworking and generous; he worked at Thilmany for 42 years until retirement.
    Joseph loved to travel with his wife, Mary. He will be remembered for all of the wonderful stories he told and the laughter that filled a room by his jokes.
    In addition to his wife, Mary, Joseph is survived by his three sons: Paul, Tim (Gerda), and Brad Niesen; his niece, Janna (Dale) Davis; and other relatives and friends.
    He is preceded in death by his daughter, Vera; a son, Greg; and first wife Vernis.
    A Funeral Liturgy for Joseph will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Fr. Marty Fox will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Liebergen, Robert "Duke" Robert "Duke" Liebergen, age 57, of Seymour, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 7, 2007, at his home following a courageous battle with a brain tumor. He was born August 29, 1950, son of Robert Sr. and Ethel (Ambrosius) Liebergen. On December 4, 2000, he was united in marriage to Amy Schwandt in Seymour.

    Duke was a Vietnam Army Veteran and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. He also was a member of the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition. He farmed in the town of Cicero most of his life.

    Robert is survived by his wife, Amy; two sons, Rick (Jenny) Liebergen and Josh Gomm, Seymour; his parents, Robert and Ethel Liebergen, Seymour; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barry and Jane Schwandt, Shiocton; three grandsons: Sam, Nick and Chris Liebergen; his brothers and sisters: Jack (Jane) Liebergen, Seymour; Wayne Liebergen, Black Creek; Mike Liebergen, Seymour; Joan (Dave) Hanson, Seymour; Joyce Liebergen, Rhinelander; Lynn (John) Hofacker, Appleton; Laurie (Brian) Peterson, Seymour; sister-in-law, Jenny (John) Mc Candless, Shiocton; and nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2007, at Noon at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.     Plamann, Donald A. Donald A. Plamann, age 75, Appleton, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Brewster Village after numerous health problems over the past ten years. He was born May 9, 1932, to the late Arthur and Linda (Jentz) Plamann in the Town of Grand Chute. Don worked on the family farms his entire life. He was in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Don was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

    He is survived by his sisters: Lucille Schroeder, Greenville; Arlene (Bob) Huebner, Appleton; sister-in-law Adeline Plamann, Appleton; nieces and nephews: Gary Schroeder, Judy Lynn (Ken) Schermitzler, Melissa Huebner, David (Barb) Plamann, Larry (Mary Jo) Plamann, Keith (Gina) Plamann and Roger Plamann.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Merlin; brother-in-law Chester Schroeder and nieces: Debby Plamann and Judy Ann Schroeder.

    Funeral services for Don will be held at 11 a.m. Friday November 9, 2007, at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Benjamin Berger. Interment will be in Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom at 2 p.m. Friday with Military Honors performed. Friends may visit at the Church Friday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Olive Church in Don's name.

    Helf, Judith A. Judith Helf, 62, Appleton, passed away at her home in Appleton, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. The former Judith Gebheim was born on September 24, 1945, in Appleton to the late Harold and Ernestine Gebheim. She married Joseph Helf in Little Chute at St. John's Catholic Church, October 7, 1967.

    Judith was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and especially making pies for her husband. She loved to travel on cruises and liked to go to the casino. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

    Judy will be sadly missed by her husband, Joe; two daughters: Sara Helf of Crandon; Amy (Donald) Chilson, Green Bay; son, Matthew Helf of Appleton; grandchildren, Jack and Ella Chilson; sister, Shirley (Fred) Piette of Appleton; brother, Robert (Debra) Gebheim of Sherwood; brothers-in-law: David (Judi) Helf of Kaukauna; Nicholas (Jo) Helf of Oshkosh; sisters-in-law: Kay (John) Riedel of Pulcifer, Elizabeth (Charles) Larson of Texas, Mary Jill Helf of Appleton, Ann (Bill) Fischer of Little Chute; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents.

    Funeral Services will be at 2:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, November 12, 2007, in Appleton with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley Funeral Home in Appleton and Monday afternoon at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
