Biography

  • Birth: Rebecca Ann May was born on May 16, 1982 in Grayling, Crawford Co, Michigan.
  • Death: She died on April 14, 2012, at age 29.
  • Note: Rebecca A. May, age 29, of Kaukauna, WI, formerly of Lewiston, MI, passed from this life and returned to her heavenly Father with open arms on April 14, 2012. Rebecca will now begin her new life with Jesus and with family and friends who are already there waiting to greet her. Rebecca was born May 16, 1982 to Theodore May and to Sharon (Hildebrand) May.

Rebecca's life was filled with people who loved her and with people and activities that she loved. Becky loved scrap booking, arts and crafts, making jewelry and gifts. Becky loved attending church; New Hope of Kaukauna and Family Ministry Center of Lewiston. For three years, Rebecca was fortunate to be able to attend camp at Spencer Lake in Waupaca, WI for special needs and while there, made many friends and e-mail buddies.

Rebecca grew up in Lewiston, MI, and became a part of the community right from the start. She worked for some area businesses, like Tally's Bar and Smitty's Family Fun Center. She was also an "assistant coach" for the Johannesburg-Lewiston Cardinal basketball team during the years her older sisters played.

When Rebecca moved to Marquette, MI, she helped at Stanley's Dry Dock Bar. She also attended a special needs class with 17 students who became her friends too. Because of the friendship between Stanley and Rebecca, Stanley started a snowmobile fund raiser with 100% of the money going to this special needs class. Rebecca also became a member of the Special Olympic Program.

Rebecca moved to Kaukauna, WI in 2004 and joined the ARC program where she participated in various activities. She also found friends in the Appleton Medical Center where her cardiologist, Dr. Lewandowski, and his staff made her feel a part of their team by letting her work in the bookkeeping/file department putting folders together for new patients.

She is survived by her parents: Ted May of Lewiston, MI and Sharon May of Kaukauna, WI. Sisters; Mandy (Jason) Schlafer and their children: Stella, Gabrielle and Lillian of Kaukauna, WI., Christine (Scott) Barry and their children: Cameron and Alex of Quincy, MI., Carrie (John) Buterbaugh and their children: Jake, Cameron, Kelsey, and Riley of Shelby Twsp., MI. Rebecca is also survived by maternal Grandfather Oscar Hildebrand of Kimberly, WI., Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Rebecca was preceded in death by her paternal Grandparents Herman and Louise May, maternal Grandmother Jean Hildebrand, and Cousin Gordon Yarbrough, Jr.

Many lives have been touched and blessed with knowing Rebecca Ann May.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave Fisher officiating, at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Rebecca's name. Condolence messages can be sent via our website, www.greenfuneralhomes.com

Rebecca's family would like to thank Theda Care at Home Hospice, especially Nurse Mary Littiebrant for the loving care given to Rebecca and her family.
