  • Birth: Robert Tibetoft was born in 1246 in Hooton, Cheshire, England.
  • Death: He died in 1298, at age ~52.
  • Note: Robert de Tibetot, who in the 50th of Henry III, 1266, was made Governor of the Castle of Porchester, and having attended Prince Edward to the Holy Land, was in high favour after he had ascended the throne as Edward I, being then constituted Governor of Nottingham Castle, Justice of South Wales, and Governor of the castles of Carmarthen and Cardigan. In the 13th of the same reign, 1285, he had a grant from the son of Gerard de Rodes to himself, his wife and his son, in fee of the manors of Langar and Berneston, in Nottinghamshire. In the 20th of Edward I, being the King's Lieutenant for Wales, he fought and defeated Rees ap Meredith, in a great battle wherein 4000 Welshmen were slain and Rees himself, having been made a prisoner, was conveyed to York and there executed. Robert de Tibetot was subsequently in the wars of Gascony and Scotland. He married Eve, daughter or granddaughter of Pain de Chaworth. He died in the 26th of Edward I, 1298.   • Birth: Patrick de Chaworth was born in 1218 in Northamptonshire, England.
  • Death: He died in 1257, at age ~39.
  • Note: Patrick de Carducis or Chaworth, who in the 23rd of Henry III, being then under age, compounded with the King for his own wardship and marriage, paying œ500 for the same. In the 29th of the same reign he received a precept from the crown, whereby he was commanded to use all his power and diligence to annoy the Welsh then in hostility. He married Hawise, daughter of Thomas de Pounders, who was summoned to Parliament by name of Thomas, Baron of Ogmore and Kidwelley, temp of King John. They had 3 daughters, Emme, Eve who married Robert Tibetot, Anne or Agnes, and 3 sons, Pain, Patrick and Henry, all of whom in 54th of Henry III, joining in the Crusade, attended Prince Edward (afterwards Edward I) to the Holy Land. This feudal Lord died 1257 and was succeeded by his eldest son, Pain, who d. s. p. 1287, who was a gallant soldier, and who in the 5th of Edward I was constituted General of the King's Army in West Wales. This older brother was succeeded by the only surviving son, Patrick de Carducis or Chaworth, Lord of Ogmore and Kidwelly. (Kin of Mellcene Thurman Smith, page 493.)

  • Note: Pain de Carducis or Chaworth, who in the 2nd of Henry III, being at that time one of the Barons Marches, became surety for Isabel de Mortimer that she should come to the king's exchequer on the octave of St. Michael to satisfy for such debts as she owed to the late King John. Pain married Gundred, daughter and heiress of William deila Ferte, heir to Margaret, 2nd daughter of William de Brewere, a great feudal lord, who died in 1226.   • Note: Stewart of the Household Sir Fulk FitzWarine, who, being under the tutelage of Sir Josce de Dinant, fell in love with his daughter Hawise, and marrying her, proceeded with her father to Ireland, and assisted him in his wars with Walter de Lacies. This Fulke was constituted by King Henry I, about the year 1122, Lieutenant of the Marches of Wales, and afterwards Stewart of the Household, and Lord and Governor of those Marches. Of Sir Fulke it is stated that at one time, falling out with Prince John, son of King Henry I, at a game of chess, and having his head broken by a blow of the chess board from the Prince, he returned the assault so violently as nearly to deprive his opponent of his life. He died sometime before the year 1195, leaving a daughter Eve, and was succeeded by his eldest son, Fulke. (Kin of Mellcene Thurman Smith, page 484.)
