Daniel Joseph Gilsdorf

    Dan was born on September 25, 1961 in Chilton, son of Joseph and Rose (Wall) Gilsdorf. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1980. He went on to further his education at Fox Valley Technical College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Computer Science. Over the next couple of years, he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree, also in Computer Science, at Lakeland College. On October 22, 1988, Dan married Mary Brochtrup at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past year. He was employed at Lakeside Foods in Manitowoc as the Network and Operations Manager for 19 years. Dan was a 6 year member of the Brillion Fire Department and went on to serve the Reedsville community for 19 years on the Reedsville Fire Department. He retired last year as a Captain. He also was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, taking a hunting trip out west, fishing, taking fishing trips to Canada, water skiing, and playing his acoustic guitar. Dan also enjoyed watching his children and coaching their teams for baseball, basketball, and softball as well as attending all grade school and high school sporting events.

    Survivors include his wife Mary; their children: Danielle Gilsdorf and special friend: Deven Krepline, Michael Gilsdorf and special friend: Carlee White, and Brock Gilsdorf and special friend: Ali Verbeten; his parents: Joe and Rose Gilsdorf; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ken and Bernice (Schuh) Brochtrup; siblings and in-laws: Barbara (John) Behnke of Brillion, Mary (Todd) Herman of Darboy, Stephen (Karen) Gilsdorf of Little Chute, Elaine (Mark) Brochtrup of Darboy, Linda (Robert) Beyer of Reedsville, Jeffrey (Barbara) Brochtrup of Madison, Barbara (William) Lorrigan of Reedsville, Gary (Nancy) Brochtrup of Reedsville, Kathryn (Christopher) Audino of Sheboygan Falls, Jay (Natalie) Brochtrup of Ceder Grove, Tammie (Charles) Warzecha of Portage, Scott (Geneva) Brochtrup of Sullivan, and Craig (Jessica) Brochtrup of North Aurora, IL; godchildren: Stacey Brochtrup, Jacquelyn Schuh, and Hannah Brochtrup; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son Jonathon Daniel Gilsdorf.

    Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Burial will take place in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Brillion.

    Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Reedsville, 15 7th Street, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, (TONIGHT) June 3, 2014. A prayer service will conclude the evening visitation. Morning visitation will occur on Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

  • Note: It is with great sadness that the family of Gerry Arts announces her passing on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Brewster Village at the age of 86. Gerry was born December 17, 1923, in Uden, Holland, daughter of the late Johannes and Johanna (Van De Ven) Verkuylen. She married the love of her life, John T. Arts, in their home town of Volkel on March 22, 1950. Thereafter Gerry and John immigrated first to Ormstown, Quebec, Canada, for 2 years and on to the United States to Clyde, MO, and then to Appleton where they spent most of their 58 years together.

    Gerry was employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital for 5 years before retiring. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and worked as a volunteer in the Thrift Store for many years.

    Gerry is survived by nine children, four sons: Arnie (Cheryl), Kaukauna; John (friend Annette), Kimberly; Mike (Brenda), Appleton; Paul (Lynn) Kimberly; five daughters: Joann (Dan) Mitchler, Kimberly; Mary Arts, Oshkosh; Theresa (Dale Judd) Arts, Middleton; Susan Arts, Green Bay; Elizabeth (Jim) Erickson, Westfield, IN; two brothers: John (Mein) Verkuylen, Australia; Wim (Jo) Verkuylen, Holland; four sisters: Anne Marie Verkuylen, Holland; Annie Wolters, Madison; Toas (Simon) VanDongen, Holland; Nolda (Frank) Hoefs, Canada; eighteen grandchildren: Bill (Lori) Arts, Angela (Scott) Huebner, Westley Arts, Matt (Alisa) Arts, Chris (Mycie) Arts, Laura Andrea and Rebekah Arts, Austin and Marcus Arts, Stacie Mitchler, Jake Jischke, Aaron Arts-Kottke, Matt (Kim) Judd, Conner, Noah and Dylan Erickson; eight great-great-grandchildren: Ryan Arts, Mikayla Arts, Emerson Huebner, Hunter Huebner, Faye Judd, Dylan Judd, Cayley Arts and Caitlin Arts; many other relatives and friends.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerry Verkuylen; a sister, Johannie Verkuylen; a brother-in-law, Lambert Wolters; a sister-in-law, Grace Verkuylen; and Jim Jischke.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., with Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Sacred Heart Room at church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.

    The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Lawrence Hall, Brewster Village, for the wonderful care Gerry received during her stay.

    Sievers (Van Heuklon), Diana Marie Diana Marie Sievers, Appleton, passed away suddenly due to injuries from a motor vehicle accident, Sunday, July 29, 2007. She was born January 27, 1977, to Randy Van Heuklon and Mary Hoerning. Diana married Vincent Sievers on August 25, 2001.

    Diana is survived by her husband Vincent; sons: Andrew and Joey Dietze, daughters: Michelle, Cassandra and Breanna Sievers; mother, Mary (Michael) Peck; father, Randy (Tami Vanden Elzen) Van Heuklon; brothers: Chris, Anthony, Nicholas Van Heuklon, Raymond Kain Jr., step-brother Steven Peck and sisters: Angela Kain and Melissa Sebeikat; grandmothers: Agnes Van Heuklon and Virginia Hoerning, father-in-law, Larry Sievers, God parents Paul Stoeger and Linda Van Heuklon, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was survived by both Grandfathers Lawrence Van Heuklon and Russell Hoerning, Aunt Laura Hoerning, Uncle Robert Kohanski, and Step-brother Justin R. Peck.

    Diana enjoyed league bowling and camping, but mostly her loving family and friends.

    Visitation will be at Valley Funeral Home, Appleton, Wis., August 1, 2007, from 3 p.m. to time of service at 7 p.m. Burial will be 10 a.m. August 2, 2007 ,at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Appleton.
