Biography

  • Birth: Richard L Scruton was born on October 25, 1963 in Green Bay, Brown Co, Wisconsin.
  • Marriage: He was married on October 8, 1988 in Neenah, Winnebago Co, Wisconsin.
  • Marriage: He was married on December 13, 1997.
  • Death: He died on January 9, 2016, at age 52.
  • Note: Richard L. Scruton, Jr. "Rick" passed away unexpectedly in his Boise, ID, home on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Born to Richard L. Scruton, Sr. and Carol (Piechocki) Scruton on October 25, 1963, in Green Bay, WI, Rick often claimed that he "was a Packer fan by birth defect", referencing the years when the Packers struggled to reach success.

Rick graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and worked for Nestle USA for 19 years before a career shift to commercial real estate. He was afforded the tremendous opportunity to work for Colliers International specializing in Industrial Real Estate. Rick loved the outdoors and grew up spend¬ing time with family and friends hunting and fishing, passions that he was excited to share with his children. He enjoyed most sports but took time to especially enjoy football, college and NFL, as well as auto racing.

Rick worked as a corner worker at Road America in Central Wisconsin with close friends for several years. He learned and loved the sport of lacrosse after his son picked up his first stick eight years ago. Rick instantly was hooked and became involved as a youth coach with TVYLL inspiring youth as the sport grew across the Treasure Valley. He joked that he hung up his coaching whistle when his son outgrew his coaching abilities and advanced to high school, but his passion for the game and support behind the scenes never sub¬sided. He lived for the game and rarely missed an opportunity to watch the Timberline High School Wolves take the field. He could not have been prouder of each and every player as they brought home the State Championship last spring.

Rick was married to Robin (Koerner) on December 13, 1997, in Wisconsin and moved west to Boise in 2003. Rick is survived by his wife, Robin; children Jake (Boise) and Mikayla and Julia (Neenah, WI). He lovingly shared his daughters with his ex-wife Lori (Metz) Scruton also of Neenah. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Mary (Martin) Scruton; mother, Carol (Piechocki) Scruton; brother, Jeff and his partner Roberta; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends and co-workers, many who were much more like family than friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leonard Scruton and his father, Richard Scruton, Sr.

There will be a celebration of Rick's life on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Eastwind Community Church in Surprise Valley. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Barber Park Event Center featuring a few of Rick's favorite things.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the first respond¬ers who worked tirelessly in an attempt to extend Rick's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Timberline High School Lacrosse team. Donations may be made online at timberlinelax.com under the Remembering Rick tab or mailed to Timberline Lacrosse at PO Box 170378, Boise, ID 83717.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Rick's memorial webpage at www.summersfuneral.com.
