    Griesbach, Donald
    Donald Griesbach, age 74, of Hortonville, died, on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center with his family by his side. Don was born on November 11, 1933, son of the late Alois and Sophia (Gresl) Griesbach. On May 19, 1953, Don married LaVerne Luniak at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy.
    He was a past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus, also 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus. He was a long time Civic Club Member in Greenville. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked as a farmer and carpenter and enjoyed his cottage at Pickerel Lake and spending time with his grandchildren. Don made friends everywhere he went and always had a new (some times old) joke for everyone. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent after he retired.
    Don is survived by his wife LaVerne; his children: David Griesbach, Richard Griesbach, Douglas (Rene) Griesbach, Lou Ann (Paul) Schroeder, Patricia (Steve) Ninneman, Michael (Sandra) Griesbach, Kevin Griesbach, Diane (Wayne) Retzlaff and Randy (Kim) Griesbach; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Russell (Laurie) Griesbach and Roman (Loraine) Griesbach; a sister, Joan (Sam) Jansen; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Griesbach, Evy Griesbach, Tita Griesbach, Elaine (Vern) Garvey, and Betty VandenBerg; brothers-in-law: Frank Hardy and Anton (Delilah) Luniak. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Besides his parents, Don is preceded in death by a son Kenny; brothers: Orville, LeRoy (Eunice), Harold, and Gerald; sisters: Mildred (Norbert) Sigl, Sally Hardy; brothers-in-law: Robert Jansen, Gordon Luniak and Alvin Luniak.
    The Funeral Mass for Donald will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville with Fr. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.
    The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Guenther and staff at Martha Siekman Center and the caring people on 2nd and 3rd floor, and Hospice of Appleton Medical Center.

  • Note: Though she fought with grace, dignity, and determination, Sandra Walbrun lost her fight against cancer on Friday night, February 4, 2011. She was 76. Sandra was born in Appleton on Christmas Day of 1934, daughter of the late Harvey and Bonita (Agen) Neuman. For many years, she worked in housekeeping at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, retiring as coordinator. In her retirement, she also enjoyed working for TransData. On February 8, 1998, Sandra was united in marriage to Larry Walbrun. Sandra was an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother: she was always giving of herself to others, always there to offer guidance or assistance, and always took one day at a time. She lived life to the fullest, and loved spending time with her family. Sandra loved all manner of sports, especially if her grandchildren were participating. She also liked to golf, travel, and visit the casinos. Sandra always enjoyed the company of her favorite granddog, Princess Shadow Marie, and has now joined her in heaven.

    Sandra is survived by her husband, Larry Walbrun of Menasha;
    Three children, Cindy Gillespie, Naples, Fla.; Jon (Wanda) Gillespie, Appleton, and their children, Amy (Nathan Herrick) Gillespie and Stephanie Gillespie; and Jayne (Sam) Carroll, Gresham, and their sons Jacob, Steven, and Deacon.
    Sandra is further survived by four step children, Larry (Linda) Walbrun, Hudson, Wis., and their children, Caitlin and Ben; Mike (Laura) Walbrun, Grafton, and their sons, Matthew and Aaron; Kim Walbrun, Neenah, and her son, Nick; and Kevin (Amy) Walbrun, Grafton, and their children, Becky (Mike) Walter, Kaylee, and Alex. There is also a great-grandson, Benjamin Walter.
    Additional survivors include Sandra's sister-in-law, Joan Neuman; and Larry's brothers and sisters, Richard (Arlene) Walbrun, Greenville; Harvey Walbrun and his special friend, Sue, Menasha; Roman (Judy) Walbrun, Neenah; Paul (Carol) Walbrun, California; Roger (Ethel) Walbrun, Appleton; Ken (Mary) Walbrun, Menasha; Carol (Doug) Cottrell, Sherwood; and Frances (Jim) Larson, Neenah; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walbrun, Menasha.
    Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Alex Carroll; brothers, Wayne, Florian, and Vilas; and brothers-in-law, Jim and George.
    Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara will officiate. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Kaukauna on Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to honor Sandra's memory.
    The family would like to thank everyone for their care and support during the past years. They include Dr. Timothy Goggins and his staff, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and everyone at Cherry Meadows. Thanks also to Bonnie, Jill, John, and Gary - we appreciate all that you have done for our family. Sandra was such an outgoing person - she has touched so many lives - if we have missed thanking anyone, please know that Sandra knows about your special feelings and she thanks you.

  • Note: DeNyse M. Peterson, 86, formerly of 183 14th Street, and currently a resident of 68 Stone Castle Drive, Fond du Lac, died peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at the Hospice Home of Hope with her children, Steve and Penny by her side. She had suffered a stroke on December 23rd. She was born April 24, 1924, in Neenah, the daughter of Albert and Pearl Remmel Parker. On September 11, 1947, she married Gordon L. "Pete" Peterson in Neenah. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1994. DeNyse was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a 1942 graduate of Menasha High School. Prior to her retirement in June of 2001, DeNyse was employed for 30 years by the Fond du Lac School District as an Instructional Assistant in Franklin, Chegwin and Elizabeth Waters schools. Whether helping children from difficult home environments or helping kids who just had trouble with their ABC's, DeNyse's caring nature and genuine concern positively impacted the lives of hundreds of area children.

    Surviving is a daughter, Penelope "Penny" Selling of New York, a son, Steven J. Peterson and his wife, Lisa Washa of Fond du Lac, four grandchildren, Shaun (Melissa) Peterson of Fond du Lac, Joshua (Beth) Peterson of Madison, Lindsay (Derek) Gerner of Fond du Lac, and Noah Selling of New York City, six great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Gerner, Chase Gerner and Jackson Gerner, all of Fond du Lac, Oscar Peterson of Madison, Landon Peterson of Fond du Lac, and Beth Anderson of Elmhurst, IL. She is further survived by a brother, Thomas (Sue) Parker of Waunakee, a sister-in-law, JoAnne Parker of Neenah, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Margaret Buckley, and brother, Daniel Parker, and a brother-in-law, William Buckley.
    Visitation for DeNyse M. Peterson will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Thursday, January 6th, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday. The Reverend Luke Strand will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.     Above all, DeNyse was a giving woman. A loving wife, an incredible mother, a grandmother and great-grandmother without compare. She took great joy in her family and we will miss her so.
