    Charles Schaefer

    Charles Schaefer, 83, R. 2, Hilbert, died at his home Saturday morning. He had been ill the past several weeks.

    Born in Germany Oct. 11, 1875, the son of Henry and Katherine Renisson Schaefer, he came to Wisconsin with his parents when he was seven years old, locating on a farm in the Town of Brillion.

    On July 5, 1900, he was married to Anna Sommers and they farmed for several years before going to Oklahoma. In 1915 they returned to make their home on the Stephen Sommers homestead, where they resided since. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1950.

    Mr. Schaefer served as a supervisor for the Town of Brillion for a number of years.

    Survivors are his wife; four sons, Walter of Sturtevant, Silverius of Brillion, William of Kaukauna, and Reuben on the homestead farm; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Steinbach of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Hilbert with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Martin Jaekels officiating, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

    Friends may call at the Kapitzke Funeral Home at Hilbert until the time of the services.

    The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 o'clock this evening.

    MRS. ANNA SCHAEFER

    Mrs. Anna Schaefer, 86, of R. 2, Hilbert, died early today at the home of her brother, Michael Sommers, Forest Junction, following a short illness.

    She was born Jan. 15, 1877, in the town of Brillion, a daughter of Stephan and Caroline Gottwald Sommers, and was married to Charles Schaefer on July 5, 1900, at Hilbert.

    After their marriage, the couple settled on the Schaefer homestead farm two miles west of Forest Junction. Three years later they moved to Orlando, Okla., living there until 1915 when they returned to Wisconsin to take charge of the Sommers farm following the death of her mother.

    On July 2, 1950, they were feted at a dinner in Hilbert in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Schaefer died April 25, 1959.

    She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Mothers Society, and the H. D. Society of the Gesu Congregation of Milwaukee.

    Suvivors are four sons, Walter of Sturtevant, Wis., Silverius, of Brillion, William of Kaukauna, Reuben of rural Hilbert; a sister, Mrs. Crescentie Jansch of rural Kaukauna; a brother, Michael Sommers of Forest Junction; 16 granchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Alfred Loehr, pastor, will be celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

    Friends may call at the Kapitzke Funeral Home, Hilbert, after 3 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Nick is further survived by many cousins and friends. Nick was preceded in death by his grandfathers: John Salm and Leslie Eberhard, and cousins: Matt and Becky Popp.
