She was born September 7, 1921, daughter of the late Chris and Ella (Baird) Vils. On July 21, 1957, Lil married John Niesz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple lived in Kaukauna their entire married lives. John preceded her in death on October 16, 1989. Lil loved fast pitch softball, playing cards, time spent with her grandchildren and her time spent up at Crooked Lake. She also enjoyed being a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and her time spent volunteering for St. Mary's activities, functions, and the Ladies Altar Society.
    She is survived by her daughter Shannon (Mark) King, Ashwaubenon; four grandchildren: Alexis, Ross, Colin, and Walker; two great-granddaughters: Madison and Braelyn; and a sister-in-law, Racquel Vils. She is further survived by special friends, Paula and Dwayne Beyer, Kaukauna, numerous nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her husband's family: Joe Niesz, Ann Hagany, Rosie Niesz, Jack Rogers, and Ethel Niesz.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers: Bill, Ray, George, Leo, Jerry, and Ken; three sisters: Blanche Vils, Edith Vils, and Alyce Trettin.
    A Memorial Service for Lillian will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Mary Site, 119 W. Seventh St., Kaukauna; friends may call directly at church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name. The former Florence Coenen was born in De Pere April 29, 1908 to the late Henry and Irene (Van Remortel) Coenen. In 1937 she married E. Les Biselx in St. Mary Church. De Pere. He preceded her in death in 1967. Survivors include a son. Bruce Biselx, Sacramento, California; a daughter and son-inlaw: Barbara and Joseph Halpin, Appleton; a grandson, Sean; four sisters: Alice Coenen, Dorothy Coenen
    and Mary Coenen, aU of De Pere; and Mrs. Harold (Sylvia) Schumerth, Oshkosh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Byron Biselx, Beatrice Masiak and Donald and Eunice Biselx, all of Kaukauna; Helen

    Halpin, Joseph P. Joseph P. Halpin, "Joe," age 68, passed away at Appleton Medical Center of complications from pulmonary fibrosis on Monday, December 10, 2007. He was born on July 27, 1939, in Navan, County Meath, Ireland, the son of the late Patrick and Maura (Mullen) Halpin. In 1958, Joe immigrated to the United States and proudly volunteered and served in the United States Army. On September 10, 1966, he married Barbara Biselx in Appleton. In 1967, Joe became a U.S. Citizen. He had a remarkably wide range of talents including every facet of construction, electronics and mechanics. He was particularly proud of his career as an airline pilot for Air Wisconsin.

    Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Sean Halpin of Appleton and his girlfriend Kelli Kossel of Oshkosh; brothers; Fergus (Kathleen) Halpin, George (Phyllis) Halpin, Donal (Olive) Halpin, Brendan Halpin, Vincent Halpin, and David Halpin; all of Ireland; sisters: Anne (James) Dougan of England, Helen (William) Fennessy of Ireland, Frances (Joe) Varris of England, Joan (Anthony) Russell of Ireland, and Mary Halpin of Ireland; brother-in-law, Bruce Biselx of Appleton; four nephews: Eamonn, Dermot, Barry, and Shane; 14 nieces: Grainne, Ailish, Deirdre, Jackie, Denise, Fiona, Carmel, Linda, Siobhan, Joan, Pauline, Ailish, Grainne, and Niamh; and adopted aunt, Mary Coenen of Green Bay.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, and Barbara's parents, E. Les and Florence Biselx.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Fr. Michael K. O'Rourke officiating. Friends will be received at the church, through the parish center doors, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton.

    The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Appleton Medical Center for exceptional and compassionate care.

She worked at Nicolet-Milprint for many years, prior to retirement. Survivors include her two sisters, Sylvia Schumerth, Oshkosh; and Mary Coenen, Allouez; one sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dolly" Coenen, De Pere; many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends, greatnieces, great-nephews, greatgreat-nieces and great-greatnephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Irene; two sisters, Alice Coenen, Mrs-.     The daughter of the late Henry and Irene (Van Remortal) Coenen, was born May 6, 1915, in De Pere. Mary was an accountant and office manager at Cuene Buick for many years prior to her retirement.
    Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Alice Coenen, Dorothy Coenen, Sylvia (Harold) Schumerth, and Florence (Les) Biselx; and her brother, Clement (Dorothy) Coenen. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
    Family and friends may call at Resurrection Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, after 9:30 Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, until the time of the service. Mass will be celebrated at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Burial will be Saturday at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N.   • Note: Sylvia M. Schumerth, our beloved mother, passed away at Bethel Home on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the age of 97. She was born on January 5, 1911 in DePere, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Irene (Van Remortel) Coenen. Sylvia married Harold Schumerth on August 28, 1940 in DePere and lived in Algoma until 1943 when they moved to Oshkosh. Harold preceded Sylvia in death on July 29, 1988.

    Before her marriage Sylvia was employed as a secretary/bookkeeper for Green Bay Motors. Many years later she was a secretary/bookkeeper for Dr. Graiewski and Dr. Leschke and at St. Peter School in Oshkosh. She was a long time member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the church choir, St. Peter Aquinas Club, and a member of the 20th Century Club.

    Left to mourn her passing are four children, Mark (Cathy Porter) Schumerth of St. Pete Beach, Florida, Michael (Pat) Schumerth of Oshkosh, Mary (Robert) Rice of Genesee, Wisconsin, and Stephen (Susan) Schumerth of Culver, Indiana; a sister, Mary Coenen of Allouez, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Marian Schumerth of DePere; 12 grandchildren, Jeff (Susanne) Schumerth, David (Lisa) Schumerth, Susan (Scott) Sellers, Lynne (Joel) Schaefer, Liz (Greg) Krome, Joanna (Jared) Vick, Shane Schumerth, Christopher Schumerth, Angela Schumerth, Daniel Schumerth, Amanda Schumerth, and Jennifer Porter; 9 great-grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Preceding Sylvia in death is her husband, parents, three sisters, Florence Biselx, Alice Coenen, and Dorothy Coenen; a brother, Clem Coenen; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 12 Noon in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter site, 435 High Ave.) with Reverend James Jugenheimer officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be given to Oshkosh Area Community Foundation for the Harold Schumerth Athletic Award Fund or to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Sylvia's memory.

    The family would like to thank the staffs at Elijah's Place and Bethel Home Special Care Unit for the outstanding care their mother received for the past six years.
