    PIONEER OF COLEMAN DIES
    MRS. M. MARTENS, CHURCH ORGANIST FOR 50 YEARS PASSES AWAY TUESDAY.
    Coleman, Wis.- Mrs. Mary Martens, wife of Mathias Martens of Coleman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Simono, Two Rivers, Wis., Tuesday morning. She had been ill for over two months with a heart ailment and was under treatment at Two Rivers.
    Mrs. Martens was sixty-three years old last September. She was born in Belgium and came to this country at the age of five, with her parents, who settled at DePere. She was married forty-four years ago this month to Mathias Martens at De Pere, coming to Coleman about twenty-eight years ago. Mrs. Martens was an organist and had presided at the organ in churches of De Pere and Coleman for about fifty years. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Royal Neighbors. She is survived by her husband, leading business man of Coleman, six sons and four daughters. The latter are Louis, Charles, Harry, Clement of Coleman, George of Stevens Point, Ray of Pound, Elizabeth and Esther and Mrs. Edward Daley of Coleman and Mrs. Ben Simono of Two Rivers. Among the survivors are included twenty-one grand children. Two sisters, Mrs. John Roffers and Mrs. Henry Albers of De Pere, also survive her.
    The first and only death among the children in this family of eleven children did not occur until after the couple were married forty-one years. The deceased is Edward Martens, who died at St. Vincent's hospital, Green Bay, after an operation, at the age of thirty-seven years.
    The funeral will occur Friday morning at ten o'clock from the St. John's Baptist church, Coleman.

    Stroke Fatal to Pioneer Merchant in Village of Coleman (Article Marinette Eagle Star May 21 1940.
    Math Marten, 80, pioneer resident of the Coleman district, died at his home in Coleman at 4 a.m. today following a stroke Sunday night. He suffered a stroke last January from which he rallied and he had been quite active since.
    Mr. Marten, who was of Dutch descent, was well-known throughout the county, having served at various times as village representative on the county board of supervisors. For half a century, he was connected with mercantile business, first establishing a general merchandise store at Coleman and later acquired a second store at Pound.
    Worked for Lumber Firm - Prior to going into the merchantile business, he served as bookkeeper for the Bolles Lumber company, with headquarters at Little River, situated between the present villages of Pound and Coleman.
    Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Florence Simino and Miss Elizabeth Marten of Coleman, and Mrs. Edward Daley of Green Bay; five sons, Louis and Harry of Coleman, Ray and Charles of Pound, and Clement of Green Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Delia DeNoble of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. Anna Drissen of Wauwatosa; one brother, John of Chicago; 45 grandchildren and 17 great grand children. Mrs. Marten died several years ago.
    Awaits Sister's Arrival - Final rites will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday in St. John's church at Coleman and burial will be in the Church cemetery. The remains were removed to the Neveu funeral home at Coleman. (Note corrected spelling of Florence's last name from Fimino and Delia DeNoble (from Cecila).

    unexpectedly this morning at her home. The former Mildred Catherine
    Gevers was born June 23, 1914, in West De Pere. Mrs. Marcott was a
    member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Mary Church, De Pere.
    Survivors include her husband, two sons, Robert and Richard; one
    daughter, Mrs. Ken (Carol) Smits, De Pere; three grandchildren; three
    brothers, Raymond Gevers, Irvin Gevers, both of West De Pere; 3 sisters,

  • Note: Robert A. Marcott, 77, Allouez, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at a local hospital. He was born August 17, 1936 in De Pere, son of the late Adrian and Mildred (Gevers) Marcott. Upon graduation from high school in 1955, Robert served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany as a telephone operator. He was honorably discharged in 1958. In 1961, he began working at Nicolet Paper Mill where he was employed for 28 years. He was a Union Steward and a strong Union advocate!

    Robert married Jean Williquette. He was later remarried to Lois Mohr on October 6, 1978 in Green Bay.

    Robert loved hunting. The activity that gave him most pleasure was dog training. He also enjoyed traveling. He traveled to many places all over the world throughout his life. He loved the Wisconsin Badgers and was a long-time Packer fan.

    He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Lois; two children, Brenda Sievert-Marcott and Brian Marcott; step-children: Michael (Linda) Peerenboom, Randall (Shirley) Peerenboom, Craig (Cheryl) Peerenboom, and Burt (Tammy) Vickery; grandchildren: Bo and Tabby Joski, Jenna Marcott, Karina Baynham, Karrah and Seth Sievert, Maria, Cameron, Rayne, Dylan, Sean, and Nico Peerenboom, Christopher and Chelsea Vickery; brother, Rick (Karen) Marcott; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends.

    Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vickie; and two sisters, Mary Marcott and Carol Olejniczak.

    Family and friends may call Friday, December 6, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Allouez, with Msgr. James Feely officiating. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
