  • Note: James Henry "Jiggs" Kamps, passed away peacefully in his chair at home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 with his wife by his side. He was born to Ralph and Barbara (Goeser) Kamps of Appleton on June 12, 1927. Jiggs attended Appleton West High School and went on to enlist in the Army. He proudly served his country during WWII. When he returned from Japan he went to work with his Dad as a beer distributor for Kingsbury Beer. He went on to work at Thilmany's until his retirement. James was united in marriage to Mary Lou McGoey on October 6, 1951. They just celebrated 63 years together. Jiggs family was very important to him. He enjoyed family get togethers watching his grandchildren participate in various activities. He was an avid Brewers and Packer fan and never missed a game and kept perfect stats. He also loved the game of cribbage and cherished the time spent playing with his son-in-laws and grandsons.

    Jiggs is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou, two daughters; Kara (Bernie) Hietpas, and Katie (Travis) Kroner, his grandchildren; Chris, Ali and Ben Hietpas, Audrey and Tyler Kamps, Kip and Kamryn Kroner, great grandchildren; Brayden and Charlotte Hietpas. He is further survived by his sisters, Mary Femal and Barbara Mahony, brother-in-law Gary McGoey and sisters-in-law, Norma McGrath and Jean Kamps, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Jiggs was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin and an infant daughter Mary.

    A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 4:00 PM at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH , 309 Desnoyer St., with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of the mass at church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    Jiggs and his family were very thankful for the daily visits from his friend Pete Kessler, the services provided by Thedacare Hospice, and to Dr. Michael Werner, for everything he did.

  • Note: Mary Lou Kamps, age 86, passed peacefully and joined her husband Jiggs on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015. Mary was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, on March 6, 1929, daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Koehler) McGoey. James "Jiggs" Kamps became her husband on October 7, 1951, and the couple shared many years of happiness together until his death in 2014. Mary enjoyed the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, NASCAR, playing bingo and the "occasional" trip to the casino. Most of all, she loved being a mom and grandma.

    Mary is survived by two daughters: Kara (Bernie) Hietpas of Kaukauna and Katie (Travis) Kroner of Combined Locks; seven grandchildren: Chris, Ali, and Ben Hietpas; Audrey Kamps and her fiancé Tony Shannon; Tyler Kamps; and Kip and Kamryn Kroner; two: great-grandchildren: Brayden and Charlotte; a brother: Gary McGoey of Appleton; a sister: Norma McGrath of Marshfield; and a sister-in-law: Mary Femal of Appleton. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jiggs, a son Kevin, and infant daughter Mary and by siblings Beverly (Sonny) Kneepkens, Joan (Tom) Heiss, Jane McGoey, and Michael McGoey.

    A memorial mass for Mary will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.     The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers who treated Mary so well, especially Dr. Amy Servais and Dr. Alex Tretinyak, as well as her dear friends Jeanette Bishop and Pete Kessler. Mary was also blessed to have some pretty awesome grandkids. They made sure to visit her often and make sure she had everything she needed to be comfortable. Thanks also to them, for loving their grandma so very much.

    Kamps, Kevin J. Kevin J. Kamps, Appleton, age 49, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at home. He was born June 13, 1957, in Kaukauna, to James and Mary (McGoey) Kamps. Kevin was a 1975 Kaukauna High School graduate and graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1980, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. He was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a Supervisor of Meat and Food Safety. Kevin enjoyed baseball, football, golf, and NASCAR racing.

    He is survived by his parents: James and Mary Kamps, Appleton; his son, Tyler and daughter, Audrey, both at home; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Kara (Bernie) Hietpas, and their family, Christopher, Alexandria and Benjamin, Kaukauna, and Katie (Travis) Kroner, and their family, Kip and Kamryn, Combined Locks. He is further survived by his children's mother, Amy Basten, Appleton.

    He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary.

    Kevin's Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2007, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating.
