  • Note: Larry W. Van Ess, 68, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at the Jack & Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Center Friday, October 18, 2013, after a very short, courageous battle with cancer.

    He was born on May 15, 1945, to the late Henry & Adeline (Liebman) Van Ess. Larry graduated from East High School. On June 10, 1967, he married Jane Kimps.

    Larry enjoyed 40 years of creating memories with family and friends at his cabin in Lakewood. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, campfires and golfing with his family, friends and especially his four grandsons. He spent every Monday with his grandsons since birth. They lovingly called their grandpa "G Dog."

    In his early years he was employed at Northland Bottling. In 1984 he started Van Ess Plumbing Service and retired in 2007.

    He is survived by his loving wife Jane; their three sons, Chad (Jennifer), Darren (Lisa) and Kelly; their four grandsons, Derek, Blair, Landin and Brady; He is further survived by one brother, Carmon (Mary); and many other nieces and nephews.

    Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Darlene Zeise; and one brother, Vernon.

    Friends may call from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Monday, October 21, 2013, at SS. Peter and Paul Parish, 710 N. Baird St., Green Bay.     In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

  • Note: Paul "Pauly" Kimps, 58, found peace, Wednesday morning, June 6, 2012, at home. Born June 3, 1954, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Edwin and Mary (VerHaagh) Kimps. Paul is a graduate of East High School. He married Mary Allard on July 25, 1974, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Paul is a long-time employee of JBS, formerly Packerland Packing. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of the outdoors, including fishing and hunting, spending time up-north, and also for his woodworking. Paul was very proud of his family, especially his children and he cherished the special bond that he had with his foster-brother, Ron Grunniwaldt.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Brian Kimps; one daughter, Michelle Kimps; two granddaughters, Jocelyn and Sahria; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Larry VanEss all of Green Bay and Sue and Bill Gleffe, Jr. of Townsend; one foster brother and spouse, Ron and Brenda Grunniwaldt of Green Bay; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Monday, June 11, from 4-8pm. Parish wake service at 7pm Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning, June 12, from 9am until the time of the funeral. Funeral service 11am Monday at the funeral home with Deacon Michael C. Vincent officiating.
