  • Note: Earl E. "Shorty" Aerts, 85, Allouez, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in De Pere, son of the late Louis and Nancy (Pries) Aerts. Earl served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946, stationed on the USS Mosely, a Destroyer Escort. While in the Coast Guard Earl earned Area Campaign Medals as well as Operation Engagement Stars for his service to his country. He married Jean Ann Jansen on Oct. 8, 1946, in De Pere. He was employed as a Boiler Technician at Nicolet Paper Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Earl enjoyed bowling, gardening, small game hunting, and had built the three homes his family lived in. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.

    Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann, Allouez; four children, Barbara (Jon) Lutgen, Greenleaf; Gary Aerts, Allouez; Margaret Smits, Howard; and Mary Brick, Bellevue; grandchildren, Melissa Aerts and her son, Dakota, Milwaukee; and Natalie Smits, Howard; brother and sisters, Nancy (Jim) Seiler, Eva (Jim) Schumerth, Grace (Norb) Desotel, and Reuben (Edith) Aerts; sisters-in-law Shirley Aerts, Jeannie Aerts, Chesterine Aerts, Catherine Jansen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Earl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; four brothers, Victor, Adrian, Marvin and Kenneth; a sister, Maxine; two sister-in-laws, Fern Aerts and Rita Laguna and a brother in law Richard Jansen.

    Funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Deacon Kurt Grube and Rev. Ted Tromble officiating. Military honors will be conducted

    Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.

She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Survivors include her children: Barb (John) Lutgen of Greenleaf, Gary Aerts of De Pere, Margaret Aerts of Suamico and Mary Brick of Shawano; grandchildren: Melissa Aerts and her son, Dakota of Gillett, and Natalie Smits of Ashwaubenon; sisters-in-law: Eva (Jim) Schumerth, Grace (Norb) Desotel, Nancy Seiler, Shirley Aerts and Jeannie Aerts; a brother-in-law Rueben Aerts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; a son, Michael; a brother, Richard Jansen and a sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Eddie) Laguna

    Nancy graduated from East De Pere High School, Class of 1956. She received her Associate Degree as a Laboratory Technician in Minnesota. In 1958, Nancy married James Seyler at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. She was employed as a Lab Technician by St. Vincent Hospital and Prevea, retiring from Prevea Clinics.

    Nancy cherished the time spent with her family. In their younger years, Nancy and Jim loved to travel. She enjoyed playing BINGO. Nancy was a social butterfly, always going out for lunch. She made the best homemade caramels which could not be duplicated and will be missed by many at Christmas time.

    Nancy is survived by her children: Nanette Stupecky, Neenah; Mark Seyler (Janet), California; Lisa (Randy) Deviley, Suamico; Chris Seyler, Howard; her grandchildren, Jordan Stupecky and her fiancé, Jesse Fritsch, Justin Stupecky, Jessica and Holly Seyler, Alex Smith and Jimmy Deviley; two sisters, Grace (Norb) Desotell, and Eva (Jim) Schumerth; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Aerts and Shirley Aerts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jackie Seyler, John (Helen) Seyler, Mary Kummers (and her special friend, Bob Detrie), and Carole Seyler; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Seyler; her parents, Louis and Nancy Aerts; her siblings, Marvin (Fern) (Chesterine) Aerts, Earl (Jean Ann) Aerts, Ruben (Edith) Aerts, Victor Aerts, Adrian Aerts, Maxine Aerts, and infant brother, Kenneth Aerts; her parents-in-law, Edward G. and Viola Seyler; and brothers-in-law, Edward R. Seyler and George Kummers.

    Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.), from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. He graduated from Premontre High School in 1956. James married Nancy Aerts in 1958 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. He served four years in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. James was employed at Green Bay Packaging for 40 years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers, and his trips to the casino. James spent time helping others.

    Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Aerts); his children, Nanette Stupecky, Neenah; Mark Seyler (Shan Shan), California; Lisa (Randy) Deviley, Suamico; Chris Seyler, Howard; his grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Stupecky, Jessica and Holly Seyler, Alex Smith and Jimmy Deviley; his brothers and sisters, Edward R. (Jackie) Seyler, John (Helen) Seyler, Mary Kummers (special friend, Bob Detrie), Carole Seyler, all of Green Bay; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeanne Aerts, Jean Ann Aerts, Reuben Aerts, Shirley Aerts, Grace (Norb) Desotell, Eva (Jim) Schumerth; many nieces and nephews.

  • Note: Reuben J. "Reub" Aerts, age 91, of De Pere, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. The son of the late Louis and Nancy (Pries) Aerts was born June 11, 1924 in De Pere. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and married Edith Plouff on August 20, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. During his career, Reub was a salesman, the co-owner of Frontier Golf Course, co-owner of De Pere Liquor, and a fireman for the City of De Pere. Reub belonged to the VFW, and enjoyed carpentry, golfing, bowling, walking, buying Seroogy's Candy for Edith, as well as helping his neighbors and family. He was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.

    Survivors include his eight children: Ron Aerts, Deb (Mark) Demerath, Randy Aerts, Pam (Mike Gerke) Aerts, Beth Harrison, Rick Aerts, Cathy (Steve) Wendt and Robert (Shanan) Aerts; grandchildren: Devin, Staci (Bati), Drew (Katie), Emily, Ben, Karen (Justin), Kayla, April, Curtis, Allison, Bobby, Riley, Reese, McKenna, Danielle and MaKenzie; great-grandchildren: Jade, Henry, Louise, Blaze, Maddox and Scarlett; siblings, Grace (Norbert) Desotell, Eva (Jim) Schumerth and Nancy Lou Seyler; sisters-in-law: Kay Unrath, Pat (John) Collen and Rosemary (Tom) Quevillion, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

    In addition to his wife, Edith, and parents, Reub was preceded in death by his siblings: Victor, Adrian, Marvin, Earl, Kenneth, and Maxine.

    Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, on Tuesday, February 16, from 8:30am until 9:45am. She was born December 2, 1927, in Little Suamico, daughter to the late Valentine and Rose (Spener) Plouff. She graduated from West De Pere High School in 1944. Edith married Reuben Aerts on August 20, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, De Pere. She was a beautician, and she enjoyed bowling and golfing. Edith was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.

    She will be deeply missed by her husband of 61 years, Reuben; eight children: Ron Aerts, Deb (Mark) Demerath, Randy (Sheila) Aerts, Pam (Mike Gerke) Aerts, Beth Harrison, Rick Aerts, Cathy (Steve) Wendt, Robert (Shanan) Aerts; grandchildren: Devin, Staci, Drew, Emily, Ben, Karen, Kayla, Apail, Curtis, Allison, Bobby, Jr., Riley, Reese, McKenna, MaKenzie; great-grandchildren: Jade, Blaze, and Maddox; brothers: Vernon, David, and Donald (Birdie) Plouff; sisters: Kay Unreth, Pat (John) Collen, Rosemary (Tom) Quevillion; sister-in-law, Mary Plouff; brother-in-law, Dick Kellerman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Rose Plouff; three brothers: Little Valentine, Victor, and Bernard Plouff; three sisters: Francis (Robert) Stammer, Caroline (Frank) Simoens, and Thelma Kellerman; brother-in-law, Weber Unrath.
