  • Note: Thomas M. "Tom" Killian, 76, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Cherry Meadows. Tom was born on April 26, 1941 to Louis and Augusta (Schmitz) Killian. On October 31, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dawn Oettinger at Holy Cross in Kaukauna. He was a veteran having served in the US Marine Corps. Tom worked at Thilmany for 37 years until his retirement in 2001. He was an outdoor person and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bow hunting, canoeing and biking. Most of all Tom loved hanging out with his grandchildren and the memories they made will be cherished.

    Tom is survived by his wife Dawn, four children; Christopher (Kari-Ann) Killian, Craig Killian, Kelly (Brian) Blatz, Connie (Bart) Daggett, 8 grandchildren; Kyle, Michael, Alec, Emily, Samantha, Arden, Katie and Cooper, brothers and sisters; Joan (Pete) Gaigg, Charles (Barbara) Killian, Virgil Meulemans, and Daniel (Judy) Killian, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Elaine Killian, Mary Walsh, James Oettinger, Carol (Don) Geenen, Janet (John) Deyoung, Judy Gerrits, and Gail Welter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Esther Killian, Frank Killian, Mildred (Joseph) Gokey, Lorraine (Clayton) Van Asten, Carol (Richard) School, and Leo Killian and in-laws; Joseph Oettinger, Thomas Oettinger, and Ron Welter.

    The memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

    Stienen, Carl J.
    Carl J. Stienen, age 51, of Madison, died unexpectedly at his home, Tuesday, August 14, 2007. He was born March 18, 1956, to the late John and Josephine (Verboomen) Stienen, in Kimberly. Carl served in the U.S. Army and is a graduate of the University of Madison. He was employed at American Family Insurance until his retirement.

    He is survived by four brothers and sisters: Joan (David) Pogrant, Waupaca; Diane Wirkus, Madison; Roger (Amy) Stienen, Kimberly; Annette (John) Dreier, Wrightstown; seven nieces and nephews: Laura (Scott) Nobbe, Paul (Debra) Pogrant, Vicki (Dean) Bodgon, Carolyn and Katelyn Stienen, Zachary and Chloe Dreier.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine (Verboomen) Stienen; and his brother, Bob Stienen.

    A private family service will be held with entombment at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

He was born at Germantown, near Milwaukee, and moved to the town of Center 56 years ago, where he made his home until 4 years ago when he removed to Appleton. He is survived by seven daughters and two sons, Mrs. Herman Frahm, Greenville; Mrs. John Casey, Stepensville; Mrs. Robert O'Brien, New London; Mrs. James Makens, Britton, South Dakota; Sister Myra C.F.A., Fond du Lac; Mrs. Peter Nussbaum and Miss Nellie Wittlin, Appleton; John Wittlin, Menominee Falls; and James Wittlin of Center. He is also survived by three brothers, Burkart, Julius and Arnold Wittlin of this city. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

    WITTLIN FUNERAL

    Brief funeral services for the late John Wittln, Sr., will be held at 8 o'clock Saturday morning from the residence, 1178 Packard street. The body will then be conveyed to St. Patrick church, Stephensville, where the Rev. Edward Schimberg will have charge of the burial rites. Burial will be at St. Patrick cemetery.
