    After a long and beautiful life, Edith Cecelia Fuss, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton.

    Edith was born on April 3, 1922 in the town of Hortonia, Outagamie County the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis and attended Hortonville schools. In 1941, Edith was united in marriage to Melvin R. Fuss and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1972. Together, they farmed in Shiocton for many years and later, was employed with the Toy Factory in Hortonville until her retirement. Edith was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, going to the casino, playing cards, and taking trips up north to the cottage on Pelican Lake. Edith was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and lovingly shared in all their milestones, birthdays, graduations, weddings, births, and special events. Edith truly was the pillar of the family and will be greatly missed.

    Edith is lovingly survived by her daughter, Mary Fuss, Appleton; four grandchildren, Robin (Richard) Miller, Belgium, WI; Angela (Michael) Forry, Appleton; Christopher (Theresa) Herman, Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Mark Herman, Appleton; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dakota and Cole Miller; Kaitlin and Kiana Herman; and Maxson Forry; a sister, Agnes Nysse, Kimberly, WI; and numerous relatives and friends. Edith was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Lester; two daughters, Loretta (Roderick) Herman, and Carol Fuss; a sister, Helen (Kenneth) Guyette; two brothers, Francis and Eugene (Joyce) Nieuwenhuis; a brother-in-law, Willard Nysse; and her husband's parents, Rudolph and Mary Fuss.

    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30AM Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Donald Zuleger officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Edith's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10:30AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Edith's name.

    Edith's family would like to thank the staffs at AMC, Appleton Healthcare and Rennes Health and Rehab Center for their love and care of Edith.

    We could not have been blessed with a more loving, kind-hearted, and devoted grandma. We hold wonderful and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Grams, you will forever and always be in our hearts. All our love, Robin, Angie, Chris and Mark.

  • Note: Agnes E. Nysse, age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at Angels Grace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc, WI. She was born on January 16, 1926 in Hortonville, WI., the daughter of John and Mary Nieuwenhuis. She married the love of her life Willard R. Nysse on August 11, 1945 in Hortonville, WI. Agnes loved being surrounded by family and friends. She loved being active and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and in her younger days (up until she was 75) she enjoyed an afternoon bowling league. She also enjoyed an occasional afternoon with her daughters playing penny slots at the casino. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for over 40 years. She made many friends while enjoying her varied activities. She spent many years gardening and growing beautiful flowers indoors and outdoors.

    Agnes is survived by her five children, Donna (Robert) Danielsen, Rochester, MN, Sharon Davison, Milwaukee, WI, Noreen (LeRoy) Young, Black Creek, WI, Ellen (Charles) Leuck, Fennimore, WI, and Gerald (Cathy) Nysse, Delafield, WI. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Willard on February 7, 1985, her two brothers Francis and Eugene, two sisters Edith and Helen, one step-grandson Michael Leuck, and one great-granddaughter Brooke Danielsen.

    A celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2016 at ST. BERNADETTES CATHOLIC CHURCH 2331 East Lourdes Drive Appleton, WI., with Fr. Don Zuleger presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:30.

    Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Agnes's name.

  • Note: Helen M. Guyette, formerly of Appleton, age 89, died Tuesday December 10, 2013 at Grand Horizons. She was born in Hortonville on January 21, 1924 to the late John and Mary (Schuh) Nieuwenhuis. She married the love of her life, Kenneth C. Guyette at St. Peter and Paul Parish in Hortonville and cherished every memory made with him. Ken met her at the gates of heaven, preceding her in death just a year ago after 67 years of marriage. Helen loved gambling, fishing, playing cards, doing puzzles, traveling and socializing with family and friends. She was very proud of having eight healthy children. Praying the rosary was important to her. Christmas was her favorite time of year.

    Helen is survived by her children: Mike (Pat), Greenville; Steve (Karen), St. Paul, MN; Dan (Bonnie), Appleton; Charlie (Cindy), Menasha; Pat (Jim) Dercks, Appleton; Ron (Teresa), Altus, OK; and Rick, Shiocton; daughter-in-law: Marge Guyette, Denmark; 17 grandchildren: Melissa Farley, Sherry (Tim) Gorski, Dawn Garncarz, Becky (Josh) Bartlein, Katie (Jake) Wildfong, Ben (Erin), Beth and Jimmy Dercks, Lindsey (Justin) Hickman, Robert, Matt (Kari), Darrin, Kenny, Grant, Kevin, Russell (Rachel) and Sarah Guyette; 14 great grandchildren with another due in May; and sisters: Edith Fuss and Agnes Nysse. She is further survived by other relatives and friends and was eagerly anticipating the birth of her first great great grandchild in February.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by Ken's parents: Ambrose and Agnes Guyette; son: Jim; granddaughter: Jennifer Guyette; brothers: Francis and Eugene (Joyce) Nieuwenhuis; and brothers and sister-in-law: Melvin Fuss, Willard Nysse and Leone (Joseph) Cappert

  • Note: Kenneth C. Guyette, Kaukauna, formerly of Appleton, age 90, died Saturday December 1, 2012 at St. Paul Villa. He was born in Bear Creek on September 27, 1922 to the late Ambrose and Agnes (Lorge) Guyette. Kenneth proudly served his country during World War II in the Air Force. He worked as a radar operator after completing the course at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ken married Helen Nieuwenhuis on October 3, 1945 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. He worked as a welder, at Northland Engineering until 1946, Valley Iron Works until 1952 and at Fox River Tool until his retirement in 1984. Ken loved fishing, hunting and socializing with his friends and family. Praying the rosary was an important part of his life. He cherished each moment spent with Helen, the love of his life.

    Ken is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; children: Mike (Pat), Greenville; Steve (Karen), St. Paul, MN; Dan (Bonnie), Appleton; Charlie (Cindy), Menasha; Pat (Jim) Dercks, Appleton; Ron (Teresa), Altus, OK; and Rick, Shiocton; daughter-in-law: Marge Guyette, Denmark; 18 grandchildren: Melissa Farley, Sherry (Tim) Gorski, Dawn Garncarz, Becky (Josh) Bartlein, Ben, Beth and Jimmy Dercks, Lindsey (Jake) Hickman, Robert, Matt (Kari), Darrin, Kenny, Grant, Kevin, Russell (Rachel), Katie and Sarah Guyette; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law: Edith Fuss and Agnes Nysse.     In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his son Jim; granddaughter Jenny; father and mother-in-law: John and Mary Nieuwenhuis; sister: Leone (Joseph) Cappaert; and brothers-in-law: Francis and Eugene (Joyce) Nieuwenhuis, Melvin Fuss and Willard Nysse.

    Uhlenbrauck, Laurinda V. Laurinda, age 88, of New London, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 03, 2007, at New London Family Medical Center. She was born July 9, 1918, in Green Valley, daughter of the late Herman and Augusta (Braun) Peters. She married Gilbert J. Uhlenbrauck, June 30, 1948, in Black Creek, sharing 33 years together before his death April 26, 1982. Laurinda enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking and bowling. She was also known as the "book lady" while volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul in Appleton for many years.

    Laurinda is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Donna Uhlenbrauck of Appleton and Phyllis (Donald) Haugen of Menomonee Falls; and three grandchildren: Brent Uhlenbrauck, Mathew Haugen and Nathan Haugen.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers: Sylvester and Floyd; and four sisters: Evelyn Kiehnau, Eleanor Zibell, Verna Hameister and Verona Lambie.

    Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Black Creek, with the Rev. John Brandt officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association.

    The family would like to express a special thank you to St. Joseph Residence of New London, and Fox River Assisted Living (Memory Care) for the wonderful care Laurinda received while a resident.

    Verona L. Lambie, age 88, formerly of Oneida and Green Bay, died early Monday morning October 18, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born May 26, 1916, in Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Herman and Augusta (Braun) Peters. Verona was a member of Seymour United Methodist Church.

    She is survived by her son, Lee Roy (Chris) Lambie, Green Bay Luann Lambie, Little Chute Gail (Lloyd) Kirsch, Gillett four grandchildren: Holly (Jason) Hintz, Brooke Kirsch, Scott (Melanie) Lambie, and Starr Lambie three great-grandchildren: Ashley, Jessica and Alec also one sister, Laurinda Uhlenbrauck, New London.

    Verona was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, on January 29, 1985 and five brothers and sisters.

    Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, on Thursday, October 21, 2004, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Bener Baysa Agtarap officiating. Entombment at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
