  • Note: Funeral services for Henry F. Vennix, 82, of Marinette, father of the Rev. James Vennix, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chilton were held Monday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Chilton, followed by funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church. Father Vennix was celebrant of Mass. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.

    Mr. Vennix died Saturday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. He had been hospitalized since December 31, and ill the past several months.

    He had lived in Marinette from 1928 to 1962. The past three years he lived at the McCormick Memorial Home, Green Bay.

    He was born April 26, 1891 at DePere, a son of the late Peter and Mary Vanden Branen Vennix. Mr. Vennix was in the furniture business in Marinette until 1960. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Marinette Council 719. On May 13, 1912 he married Nora Baeten at St. Boniface Catholic Church, DePere. She died on March 5, 1968.

    Survivors, in addition to Father Vennix, are two other sons, Arthur J. of Lincoln, Neb., and Henry B. of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Sister M. Norella of Chicago; four grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Angeline Hoffman in Florida.

  • Note: Joyce R. Simon, 86, De Pere, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening, Feb. 12, 2011. She was born on May 16, 1924, in Little Rapids, Wis., to the late Arthur and Christine (Baeten) Otis. She was a 1941 graduate of Nicolet High School in west De Pere. Joyce married George G. Simon in 1944 at St. Boniface Church in west De Pere. He passed away Jan. 22, 1972.

    Joyce was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community, Ledgeview. She worked at Shefferd's Cheese, Prange's, Robert Hall Co., and the Kresge Store.
    Surviving are four children, Gary (Georgean) Simon, Suamico; Gayle (Michael) De Lair, Allouez; Richard Simon, Green Bay; and Dean (Krissti) Simon, Green Bay; ten grandchildren, Stacy (Dana) Stecker, Todd (Rachel) Simon, Kristin (Robert) Euclide, Joshua (Etta) De Lair, Jill (fiance Brian) Simon, Jake Simon, Jeff Simon, Jared Simon, Kendra Simon, and Ashley Benson; ten great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kamryn and McKenna Euclide; Ethan and Ian De Lair; Mason, Gabrielle, Alexandra and Broderick Stecker; and Peyton Olson; a sister-in-law, Theresa Otis; and nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, John Otis.
    Family and friends may call Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, from 9 until 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John the XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, Town of Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.     Mrs. John Coenen, 76, of East De Pere, died at her home Thursday morning. She was born August 10, 1887, in Belgium, but spent most of her life in East DePere.
    Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. Mary Catholic church, East De Pere. Burial will be in East DePere cemetery. Friends may call at the Coffey Funeral home after 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evenings.
    Surviros include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Louis Guyon and Mrs. Dan Baeten, both of East DePere; two step-daughters, Mrs. Kurt Steinert, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Herbert Nytes, Kaukauna; and one step-son, Norbert Coenen, Neenah.

    Baeten, Robert E. (Bob) Robert E. Baeten (Bob), 80, Ashwaubenon, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, after a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in De Pere, to Elsie and Daniel Baeten on Oct. 7, 1926. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On Feb.14, 1953, he married his best friend MaryAnn Jackson and they celebrated more than 50 years of memories together. MaryAnn preceded him in death on Feb. 3. 2006. Bob was a banker for the State Bank of De Pere until his retirement. He was also member of the Catholic Order of Forresters. During his years with the bank he made many friends and was very well known throughout the city of Dc Pere. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and compassion that he shared with everyone he met. He was truly one of the kindest men that God ever created. Bob is survived by his children and their families, Robert and Joann Baeten, along with their children, Jessica, Bobby and Danny; Susan and Marvin Calaway, their children, Jennifer, Chad Sara), and Michelle; Laurie and Richard Janssen, their children, Scott (special friend, Amanda), Todd (special friend, Susan), Jason and Ashley (Greg); Stephen and Jackie Baeten, their children, Brandon, Samantha and Brianna; Leanne and Jim Finer, their children, Jesse, Jake, Cody, Ben (Alli), Zach and Sarah. He also is survived by four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler, Hanna and Alivia; his brothers and their wives, Donald and Florence Baeten, Richard and Lou Baeten, and Jim and Tim Baeten; and sister-in-laws, Janet and Ralph DeMarco, Karen and Ed Salzsieder; and Joan and Paul Conard; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Elsie, his wife, MaryAnn, his in-laws, Clarence and Minnie Jackson, and his faithful and loved cat, Sassy-Bob. Visitation for Bob will be held Tonight Monday, September 17, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, DE PERE. A wake service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Visitation Tuesday from 9 a.m. until Mass. Entombment in Allouez Mausoleum.
