    Gerald A. "Junior" Gerrits, Jr., 79, Greenleaf, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born October 29, 1933 on the family farm in the Town of Wrightstown, son of the late Gerald Sr. and Leona (Geurts) Gerrits. He graduated from Wrightstown High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Mary Jane Hutjens on June 10, 1959 at Old St. Joe's Catholic Church in De Pere. He worked as a Master Ink Mixer for Thilmany Paper Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1995. For the past 15 years, Junior worked part-time at Equity Livestock in Reedsville.

    He was a lifelong, active member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown, where he served as an usher, sang in the choir, and was president of the school board for the church. Junior was a member of the Wrightstown American Legion, where he was Past Commander and worked for their annual Christmas program.

    He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, playing cribbage, watching the Packers and Brewers, and was a hobby farmer.

    He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane; five children: Paul Gerrits, Dennis (Gabriela) Gerrits, Karen Bates, Julie (Jim) Feest, and Mark (Samantha) Gerrits; ten grandchildren: Dennis Jr., Daniel, Alyssa, Matthew, Allison, Brooke, Benjamin, Aubrey, Mariana, Fernanda; two great-grandchildren, Alekzander and Michael; brother, Roger Gerrits; sisters, Delores Kettenhofen and Norma Buechler; Mary Jane's family: Paul Schuette, Bonnie (Rick) Kolocheski, Marlene (Juan) Gonzales, Jerry Hutjens, and Janice Hutjens; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Titel; brothers-in-law, Robert Kettenhofen, Ken Buechler, Russ Titel and Jack Gerilowski; and sisters-in-law, Debbie Hutjens and Barb Schuette.

    Family and friends may call Friday, July 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clare Parish- St. Paul site, Wrightstown, with Fr. Carl Meulemans officiating. Full military honors will follow the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, Wrightstown, is assisting the family.   • Note: Norma J. Buechler, age 80, of De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 19, 2015. The daughter of the late Gerald Sr. and Leona (Geurts) Gerrits was born March 2, 1935 in Green Bay. She married Ken Buechler on February 14, 1956 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. Together, Ken and Norma shared more than 40 years of marriage and lived in the Wrightstown area throughout their lives. Norma was an active member of the American Legion Urban Klister Post 436 Auxiliary, where she was past president. She was also a long-time member of St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site and the Christian Mothers group. Besides watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers play, Norma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards.

    Survivors include her children: Debbie (Kip) Hansen, Tom (Kathy) Buechler and Shari (John) Leidel; grandchildren: Bryan (Emily) Hansen, Katie Hansen, Brooke Buechler, Billie Jo (Matt) Cornett, Beth Leidel and Sara Leidel, as well as 2 soon-to-be great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two siblings: Dolores Kettenhofen and Dr. Roger Gerrits; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gerrits; as well as brother-in-law Luke Verbeten and sister-in-law Donna Buechler; godchildren, nieces, nephews and other family.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Ken, Norma was preceded in death by an infant son Gerard, brothers and sisters: Carol (Russ) Titel and Junior Gerrits, brother-in-law Bob Kettenhofen, sister-in-law Eunice Verbeten and brother-in-law Ron Buechler. Further preceded by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Ted (Mary) Buechler.

    Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Monday, August 24, from 9:00am until 11:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30am with the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating and Rev. Carl Meulemans concelebrating. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory of Wrightstown is assisting the family.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Norma's name.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Paul Catholic church with t he Rev. Elroy E. Reimer officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with De Wane-Cotter Fu neral home handling arrangements. Mr. Buechler was born in Wrightstown Feb. 4, 1929, a son of the late Theodore and Mary Drac e Buechler and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He married the former Norma J . Gerrits at St. Paul Catholic church in Wrightstown on Feb. 14, 1958. He was employed at Thi lmany Paper Mill for 44 years until retiring in 1991. Mr. Buechler was an active member of St. Paul Catholic church, and a member of the Urban Klis ter American Legion Post 436.     Post 436 Everlasting Ken was born in Wrightstown, and lived here all of his life. Ken was a veteran of the Korea n War, and was a member of The Untied States Army. On February 14, 1956 Ken married the form er Norma Gerritts, the couple enjoyed more than 40 years together. He had been employed at Th ilmany Paper Mill for 44 years until his retirement in 1991. Ken was a active member of St. P aul Catholic Church in Wrightstown, and a member and Past Commander of Urban Klister Post 43 6 of the American legion. Survivors include his wife Norma, and their children Debra and Ki p Hansen, maribel; Tom Buechler, Green Bay; Sharon and John Leidel, Green Bay; 6 grandchildre n. A sister Eunice and Luke Verbeten, a brother Ron Buechler and his wife Donna. Father-in-la w Gerald Gerrits Sr. in-laws Delores and Bob Kettenhoven, Dr. Roger Gerritts, Gerald Gerritt s Jr. and his wife Mary Jane, and Russ Titel. He enjoy ed golf, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. We know that Ken is up ther e somewhere playing cards and telling some one that he's gonna pick them up because he has th e good enough to get beat on. But he seldom got beat.   • Note: Kaukauna Times 9-22-1944 Was Employed on Farm Near Kaukauna Before Induction Into Armed Forces Pvt. Clarence V. Vande Voort, 33, was killed in action in France on Aug. 27, a War departemen t telegram notified his wife Monday evening,. No details of the action in which he met his de ath were given. Pvt. Vande Voort left for overseas from Fort George Meade, Md. on July 16, af ter receiving basic training at Camp Blanding, Fla. Inducted Feb. 16 of this year, he was ser ving with the infantry. Prior to induction, he was employed near kaukauna, on the Dr. W.C. Su llivan farm. Born at Pestigo, Oct. 12, 1910, the sodier attended Wrightstown schools. On Oct. 12, 1933, h e was married to the former Glayds Burt of the town of Lawrence. Surviving, besides his wife,are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Vande Voort, Wrightstown.

    Verla M. (Krueger) Van Boxtel, 66, Green Bay, died Feb. 24, 2008. She was born to the late Roy and Evelyn Krueger in Appleton. She was married on Aug. 1, 1959, to Roger Van Boxtel. Verla enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, but most of all, her absolute love was spending time with her grandchildren.
    Survivors include her loving husband; son, Doug Van Boxtel, Little Suamico; two daughters, Christine (Mark) Zuleger, Oshkosh; and Lisa (Mark) Hartell, Prior Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren, Lauren and Benjamin Zuleger, and Taylor Hartell; brother-in-law, Jerry (Janet) Van Boxtel; sister-in-law, Carol (Larry) Helgemo; nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many near and far friends.

    Dean Van Asten, age 58 of Waupaca, died on Friday afternoon, July 28, 2017, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah, following a brief illness. His parents, Guyland and Jackie (Thiex) Van Asten welcomed Dean into their lives at that very same hospital on December 3, 1958. He was one of four children born to the couple. At the time of his passing, Dean had been working as a truck driver for Michels Construction.

    Everyone will remember Dean as a guy with a great sense of humor and a big heart. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, being on the river, or just spending time around a campfire with good friends - these were his favorite things.

    Dean is survived by his wife: Lori Van Asten of Waupaca; his mother: Jackie Van Asten of Larsen; two children: Taryn (Aaron) Greisinger of Merrill and Tanner (Kim) Van Asten of Hortonville; three grandchildren: Ryland and recently born twins Holden and Hadley; his former wife and the mother of the children: Dawn (Dan) Van Asten of Hortonville; two brothers: Tim (Diane) Van Asten of Larsen and Jody Van Asten of Appleton; and a sister: Kalyn (Brett) Olson of Neenah. He is also survived by the Van Asten nieces and nephews: Johanna (Andy) Buss, Jonathan (Deb) Van Asten, Jennifer (Jake) Van Asten, Jacob Van Asten,Tyler (Sandy) Van Asten, Bree Van Asten, Kane Olson, and Claire Olson.

    Other survivors include Lori's children: Jessica (Marty) Syring of Larsen and their children Ella, Emily, and Blake; and William (Oksana) Harper of Florida and their daughter Lynette; and Lori's sisters: Kathy Syring of Waupaca and Jan Keddell of Shawano, as well as Bruce Leitzke and his family.

    For many years, some special friends graced Dean's life, and they also will miss him dearly. Among them are Butch and Kathy Miller, Eddie Gilmore, and Andy and Susie Miller.

    Dean was preceded in death by his father, Guyland Van Asten in 2016, and by Lori's parents Tom and Audrey Protheroe.

    A service of remembrance and a time to celebrate Dean will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Hope United Methodist Church, 8950 Alpine Road, just south of Fremont, with Rev. Alex Tychkin officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
