  • Note: Anna Hagany, age 95, passed away at the ThedaCare Hospice Residence in Appleton on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012. Anna was born in Chicago on June 4, 1917, daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Grems) Niesz. On July 1, 1950, she married Leo Hagany; he preceded her in death in 1998. As a young woman, Anna worked for Kaukauna Klub Cheese for over twenty years, and then lived in Milwaukee for a time. The couple returned to Kaukauna in 1986. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish as well as the VFW Auxiliary.

    She is survived by a brother: Joe Niesz of Kaukauna; three sisters-in-law: Rosie Niesz of Kaukauna; Ethel Niesz of Little Chute; and Mary Kerkhoff of Little Chute; a brother-in-law: Jack Rogers of Appleton; as well as countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, sisters Kate (Clem) Fink and Mary Rogers; brothers John (Lil) Niesz, Jacob Niesz, Michael Niesz; brothers-in-law Merlin Hagany, and Jack Hagany; and a sister-in-law Annette Niesz.

    The funeral liturgy for Anna will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Hollandtown. Friends may visit directly at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be directed to ThedaCare at Home Hospice. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

William Lloyd Schumacher

  • Note: William L. Schumacher, 35, an accountant with the Chilton Malting Co., here for the past ten years and assistant secretary for nearly a years, and active in social and fraternal organizations of this city, died unexpectedly at his home at 12:30 today.
    Mrs. Schumacher had worked as usual Wednesday and had spent the evening at his home, retiring at about 10:30 without giving any indication of approaching illness. He suffered a heart attack a little later and died without rallying from it.
    Funeral services will be held at St. Augustine church here Monday with the Rev. John J. Murphy officiating.
    Mr. Schumacher was born Jan. 26, 1907 in Kloten, son of Peter and Christine Schumacher. He received his grade school education at St. Augustine parochial school here and on completion of his studies went on the Chilton high school from which he graduated in 1925.
    He matriculated at Marquette University in 1927 where he took a course in business education, graduating in 1931.
    Shortly thereafter he obtained employment as accountant with Chilton Malting Co which position he held until the time of his death.
    He married Miss Marie Eldridge of Hilbert, July 6, 1940, who survives him. Other survivors are his brother, Loren Schumacher of this city and two aunts, the Misses Josephine and Mary Koch, also of this city, Miss Josephine Koch’s relationship to him was especially close as she took charge of him on the death of his mother in 1910, when he was only three years old, and mothered him through his childhood and youth.
    The report of his death this morning came as a shock to many in this community as he was young and appeared always to be in the best of health. Quiet and reserved in disposition and industrious and considerate always of those with whom he associated, Mrs. Schumacher had made for himself a host of friends who will lament his passing.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis church, Hollandtown, with burial in the parish cemetery. Rev. Eugene Brochtrup, St. Nazianz, uncle of the deceased, will officiate.
    Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral home, Kaukauna, after 2 p.m. Monday until time of services. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday.

    Mary Carla Vanderloop

    Age 16, passed away early Saturday as a result of injuries suffered Thursday in a car accident. She was born August 31, 1954 in Green Bay and was a Junior at Kaukauna High School. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Linus Vanderloop, Rt. 3, Kaukauna; two brothers, Gerald and Andy; two sisters, Debbie and Cindy all at home; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Richard (Leona) Vanderloop, Rt. 3, Kaukauna. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, with the Rev. Edward Kilsdonk, officiating.     Peyton was preceded in death by Papa Orv Lemke and Papa Dan Brantmeier.

    Private family services will be held. DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, Wrightstown, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.

    Peyton, you are the most beautiful baby in the world. Mommy and Daddy are going to miss you more than anything. You meant the world to us. You are and will always be our angel.
