    Age 74, died Wednesday after a brief illness at Appleton Memorial Hospital. She was born September 6, 1905 in Clintonville. She lived in the Kaukauna area since 1925. Survivors include her husband, Anton; her daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Jansen, Kaukauna; five sons: Leon Ashauer, James, Eugene, John and Thomas, all of Kaukauna; 23 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 am. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mike Hoffmann officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Church would be appreciated.

    Leon Ashauer, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born in Appleton on April 13, 1927, son of the late Anton and Lucille (Laux) Ashauer. On February 1, 1947, Leon married the former Carol J. Reinholz she survives. As a young man, he began helping his father in the family business, Ashauer Distributors, a well-known beer distributor in Kaukauna, which later became known as LBJ Distributors in Little Chute. He worked in the family business most of his life. For a time, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

    Leon enjoyed golf, and was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club. He was also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he once served as president of the Holy Name Society, the Kaukauna American Legion, and the Electric City Post #3319 of the V.F.W. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, including bowling, softball, snowmobiling, playing cards, cheering for the Packers and the Brewers, working crossword puzzles, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Leon also loved to care for and feed the many birds that visited his yard. He will be remembered for his love of spending time up north at the cabin near Mountain and traveling with Carol. He also enjoyed refinishing and repairing furniture, as well as tinkering with broken radios and televisions.

    Leon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol J. Ashauer of Kaukauna eight children: Sharon (Michael) Minock of Green Valley, AZ Mary Elliott of Neenah Patty Keough of Appleton Randy (Paula) Ashauer of Kaukauna Becky (George) Palen of Kaukauna Jan ( Alan) Hietpas of Kaukauna Lisa (Doug) Warren of Newburg, OR and Greta Ashauer of Appleton 25 grandchildren five great-grandchildren four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers: Eugene (Margaret) Ashauer of Kaukauna John (Ione) Ashauer of Kaukauna and Thomas (Kathy) Ashauer of Kaukauna a sister, Carol Jansen of Kaukauna three sisters-in-law: Carol T. Ashauer of Little Chute Virginia (George) Steffens of Fond du Lac and Janice (Karl) Freier of Kaukauna.

    Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Ashauer, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Catherine) Reinholz.

    The funeral liturgy for Leon will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born on July 5, 1927, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Paschen) Reinholz. On February 1, 1947, Carol married Leon Ashauer at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. She enjoyed painting, quilting, antiquing, doll collecting, and gardening. Carol also loved to care for and feed the many birds that visited her yard. She will be remembered for her love of spending time up north at the cabin near Mountain, and traveling with Leon. Carols favorite flower was the trillium, and she enjoyed being outdoors, along with spending time with her family.

    She is survived by her eight children: Sharon (Michael) Minock of Green Valley, Arizona; Mary Elliott of Appleton; Patty Keough of Appleton; Randy (Paula) Ashauer, Becky (George) Palen, and Jan (Alan) Hietpas, all of Kaukauna; Lisa (Doug) Warren of Newburg, Oregon; and Greta Ashauer of Appleton; nineteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Virginia (George) Steffens of Fond du Lac and Janice Freier of Kaukauna; three brothers-in-law: Eugene (Margaret), John (Ione), and Thomas (Kathy) Ashauer, all of Kaukauna; and sister-in-law: Carol Jansen of Kaukauna. Carol is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Ashauer; brother, Kenneth (Catherine) Reinholz; and brothers-in-law, Karl Freier and James (Carol T.) Ashauer.

    The funeral liturgy for Carol will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna.     Two Kaukauna youths were injured fatally and two others hospitalized when their convertible automobile went out of control while being chased by county police on Hillcrest Drive (Country Trunk Q) near Peters Road in the city of Kaukauna about 9:30 p. m. Wednesday.
    Paul Esler, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Esler, 302 Catherine St., and Robert Robach, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Robach, 826 Desnoyer St., died of injuries received in the accident.
    The Esler youth died about 11:30 p.m. and the Robach youth died about 2:30 a.m. today without regaining consciousness. Esler died of brain injuries and a skull fracture. Robach died of a basal skull fracture and cerebral hemorrhage, Outagamie County Coroner Bernard H. Kemps said.
    Listed in critical condition is Bernard W. Smith, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith, 1609 Kenneth Ave. Smith, the driver of the car, has a compound fracture of the right leg, a fractured left shoulder and scalp lacerations.
    In good condition with a fractured left clavical, possible fracture of the left elbow, and abrasions to the legs is David Schuette, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schutte, 800 W. 10th St.
    Both youths are at the Kaukauna Community Hospital.
    Schuette was thrown partially from the overturned car. The others were trapped in the twisted wreckage and had to be freed by police, ambulance attendans and spectators.
    Kaukauna and Outagamie County police said the car went out of control on a curve at the Peters Road, sheared off a mailbox, hit a power pole knocking out a 12-foot section of the pole, hit a tree . . .

    Youth Admists He Bought Beer for Four in Crash Car
    Rodney K. Tepolt, 18, 211 ½ W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna, shortly before noon today pleaded guilty of contributing to the delinquency of minors when arraigned in Outagamie County Court Branch 2.
    Tepolt was arrested by Sheriff Calvin Spice this morning after it was learned through an investigation that Tepolt bought a case of beer for the four Kaukauna youths involved in the double fatal accident. Tepolt said the beer was purchased about 8:50 p.m. with money given to him by the youths.
    The case of beer was thrown from the car seconds after Patrolman Robert Keating began chasing the vehicle on Hass Road near Kaukauna.
    County Judge Gustave Keller continued the matter until Monday and Tepolt is being held in the county jail without bond.
