    Helein, Gary B.


    Gary B. Helein, age 57, of Menasha, passed away on Monday morning, December 14, 2009, at his home. He was born on January 2, 1952, in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of LaVerne (Lindgren) and the late Bernard Helein. On October 11, 1991, he married Kaycie Woolf at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Menasha. Gary played football for Menasha High School, from where he graduated in 1970 for proudly serving his country with the United States Air Force. He was a truck driver before SCA Tissue for 39 years.

    Gary will be revered as a hard-working, kind, loving man whose competitiveness helped him to excel at golf (he achieved two holes-in-one), racketball, tennis, motorcycle racing, and working out at Neenah's YMCA. He and Kaycie enjoyed traveling, watching movies, and precious time spent with their children and grandchildren.

    Gary will be sadly missed by his wife, Kaycie; his daughters: Andrea (Clint) Woldt, Kaukauna; Rachelle Johnson, Menasha; his sons: Brad (Jeni) Johnson, Darboy; Josh (Ashley) Helein, Appleton; grandchildren: Allison and Carter Woldt, Max Johnson, Keaghun Nollenburg, Kayla Grunert, Jaden Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Neveah Porter, Blake, Maria, and Faith Helein; mother, LaVerne Helein, Menasha; sister, Linda (Joe) Bednarowski, Menasha; brother, Scott Helein, Menasha.

    Memorial service for Gary will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 6 p.m. at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. David J. Skarsten officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Interment will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at St. Margaret Mary Cemetery in Neenah where full Military Honors will be performed.

    The family wishes to thank Dr. Goggins and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, and the staff of Affinity Hospice for all of your care through Gary's illness.

  • Note: John "Snap" Hintzke, age 66, New London, died on Monday, February 11, 2013. Snap was born on July 10, 1946, in New London son of John and Elaine (Knapp) Hintzke. On June 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Sharon Van Straten in New London. He owned and operated Hintzke Well Drilling in New London for many years. Snap enjoyed hobby farming, shack hopping during the hunting season, and watching westerns and war movies. He served his country as a field medic in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

    He is survived by his wife Sharon; father John, New London; three sons: J.J. (Wendy) Hintzke, New London, Jay P. Hintzke, New London and Jason (Lindsey) Hintzke, New London; two brothers, Jim (Jeannie) Hintzke, New London and Jan (Anita) Hintzke, Altoona; a sister Judith Walker-Jensen, LaCrosse; and 5 grandchildren: Jaid, Johnny, Josie, Jalaina, and Jackson. He is further survived by an Uncle Frances Hintzke and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    His mother Elaine, an infant brother Jay and father and mother in-law, Donald (Marvella) Van Straten preceded him in death.

    Funeral mass for Snap will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. Arul Joseph Irudamoney officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and also at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

    KAUKAUNA - At 9 o'clock Tuesday in Holy Cross church, Miss Gertrude Helein was married to Edward Marks, the Rev. P. J. Lochman officiating. Leonard Helein was best man and Miss Edna Jansen was bridesmaid. Miss Helein was attired in a dark blue suit with hat to match and carried a prayerbook and rosary. The bridesmaid wore a dark blue dress and carried a bouquet of roses, sweetpeas and carnations.
    A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Helein. Sixty guests were present, including several from out of the city. They were Mr. and Mrs. Nic Rettler of Black Creek, Miss Jansen of Little Chute, Miss Laura Chase of Albertson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ward and family of Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. William Ward and family of Wausau.
    The young couple left on a honeymoon trip to Minnesota and the Dakotas.

    Age 88, died peacefully at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, with his family at his side. He was born August 30, 1915 in Kaukauna, son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Helein) Ward. Koby married the former Marie (nee Byrd) Akeman on January 23, 1964 at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna she preceded him in death in 1996. He retired as Assistant Chief of the City of Kaukauna Fire Department in December, 1974. Both prior to and after his retirement, Koby and Marie enjoyed many happy years at their cottage at White Potato Lake. They also spent six wonderful years in Sunsites, Arizona, where they made many new friends, but returned to Wisconsin to rekindle old friendships when Marie became ill. Koby also enjoyed being a part-time bartender at The Hyland House and Willie's Cedar Cellar. He was a life long member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and also a member of the Jacob Coppus Post #258 of the American Legion.

    He is survived by a son: Jerry (Nancy) Kobussen of Kaukauna a son-in-law, Ron (Barbara) Reichel of Las Vegas, Nevada five grandchildren: Lori (Patrick) Petty, Cari (Mike) Scott, Mary (Jim) Roessler, all of California Kay (Scott) Gahr of Appleton, Kurt Kobussen of Slinger seven great-grandchildren: Justin and Kaitlin Petty, Samantha and Tabitha Scott, Nathan and Trevor Roessler, and Kamden Gahr one sister: Alice Heimerman of Munising, Michigan three brothers-in-law: Bill (Ethel) Hill of Fairfield, Ohio, Howard (Elaine) Wilson of Hamilton, Ohio, and Bob (Thelma) Bowman of Kettering, Ohio two sisters-in-law, Jimmie Ranquette of Little Chute and Elsie Combs of Laurel, Indiana. Koby is further survived be numerous special nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Janice Reichel in 1986, three brothers-in-law, Gene Heimerman, Willie Ranquette and Milo Combs.

    The funeral liturgy for Koby will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at which time the procession will leave for the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.

    The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at both St. Paul Manor and St. Paul Elder Services for their extra kindness to Koby, as well as to Koby's longtime and dear friend, David Six. Your friendship over the years meant the world to dad -- thank you so much.

    Dad, anyone who has ever met you over the years has always remembered you as a truly generous and kind person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. You were loved by all because you never had a bad word to say about anyone. We will miss your smile, but you will always be in our hearts.

    Heimerman, Alice Mae Alice Mae Heimerman, age 84, of Munising, Michigan, and formerly of Kaukauna and Neenah, died on Tuesday, October 9, 2007. She was born to Edward and Gertrude (Helein) Ward on March 1, 1923. She was a member of Holy Cross Church and graduated from Kaukauna High School. Alice married the late R. Eugene Heimerman in 1948. They lived in Neenah and were members at St. Margaret Mary and St. Gabriel Churches. They transferred with Kimberly Clark to Munising in 1967.

    Alice is survived by her four children: Mary (Richard) Bowerman of Munising; Gail (Timothy) Flynn of Milan, IL; Richard (Marcy) Heimerman of Munising; and Karen (Thomas) Summit of Rowley, MA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ceil Goerl, Georgianna Heimerman, Lee (Pauline) Heimerman, Doris (John) Weyers, Joyce (Raymond) Lake, and Dennis (Marianne) Heimerman, all of the Appleton area; and numerous nieces and nephews.
