Mr. Sawall is survived by his wife, Louise; four sons, Gerald E., Omaha, Neb.; Eugene, Mequon, Wis.; Kenneth and Donald, Appleton; three brothers, Casper and Allan, both of Dale; Edwin, Appleton; three sisters, Mrs. Ben Krueger, Appleton; Mrs. Wilbur Brooks, Waukesha; Mrs. Jessie Cross, Menasha; five grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Richard Mauthe, a nephew, celebrant of the mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichman Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

    She was born October 29, 1911, in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Julius and Theodora (Lohmann) Vogt.

    Nell was a life member of St. Mary's Parish, graduating from St. Mary's School.

    On October 29, 1930, Nell married William R. Schaefer, formerly of Hilbert, at St. Mary's and shared 50 years plus together.

    Nell was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society. For many years, Nell cooked at the Kaukauna Elk's Club, was an excellent seamstress for family and friends, and a frequent visitor of the Kaukauna Library enjoying stories of the "Good Old Days".

    She is survived by three children: Elaine (Gene) King and Eugene (Jane) Schaefer of Kaukauna, Dot (Gordy) Weyers of New Auburn; 13 grandchildren: Nancy (Dave) Vander Loop, Patty (Steve) Dey, Peggy Edmonds, Dan (Lisa) King, Bill (Beth) Schaefer, Bob Schaefer, Mary (Jack) Welch, Carla (Bill) Campbell, Keith (Bonnie) Weyers, Kevin Weyers, Pam (Mike) Stalpes, Dorri (Joe) Waldera, and Erik Weyers; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Reuben Schaefer of Hilbert; and many godchildren, nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on May 26, 1984; a grandson, Kenneth Schaefer; grandsons-in-law: Don Edmonds, Scott Frank, LaVern Lorbiecki; a brother, John Vogt; sisters and brothers-in-law: Liz (Joe) Fischer, Mayme (Bill) Dries, Ag (George) Luebke, Louise (Chet) Sawall, Florence (Wally) Vollmer, Peggy (Jack) Wagner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Walter (Grace) Schaefer, Syl (Hilaria) Schaefer, sister-in-law, Erna Schaefer.

    Age 76. Died Saturday, May 26, 1984. He was born Sept. 4, 1907, in Orlando, Ok.. He had lived most of his life in Kaukauna and was married to Nell Vogt in 1930. He had been employed at Gustman Chevrolet in Kaukauna for 37 years prior to his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Kaukauna Knights of Columbus Council 1033.

    Survivors besides his wife Nell are two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Gene King, Kaukauna; Dot and Gordon Weyers, New Auburn; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jane of Kaukauna; two brothers, Sil of Brillion, and Rueben of Hilbert; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna with the Rev. David Schmidt officitating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today and on Monday morning until the cortege leaves for the church.

    There will be a prayer service today at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Margaret "Peg" (Vogt) Wagner

    Mrs. Jack Wagner, age 55, of Waubee lake, Lakewood, Wisconsin, died suddenly at her home on February 4, 1970.
    She was born July 5, 1914 in Outagamie County, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius Vogt, and moved to Kaukauna when a small child.
    She graduated from Kaukauna High School and OCTC, and taught school at Little Chicago, the Red Star school near Appleton, and the Apple Creek school in the Town of Kaukauna.
    She and her husband owned and operated the Prospect Lodge on County Trunk F, (Lakewood) for 22 years. Mrs. Wagner was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 659 of the VFW.
    Survivors are her husband; six sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer, Stockbridge; Mrs. William Dries, West Allis; Mrs. Louise Sawall, Appleton; Mrs. Walter Vollmer, Hilbert; Mrs. William Schaefer and Mrs. George Luebke, Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood, with Rev. Harold Barryman officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
    The Ermenc Funeral Home, Wabeno, was in charge of arrangements.

    Gary Wankey, 65, Appleton, died unexpectedly at his home, Friday, November 27, 2009. He was born January 1, 1943, in Appleton, son of Lester and Lorraine (Miller) Wankey. Gary was employed at Thilmany's for 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, the Green Bay Packers and fishing at Geeno Beach. He also enjoyed all of his neighbors. Gary loved cats, especially Sam, Betsy and Scruff.

    Gary is survived by his wife, Sue; a son, Lester Wankey; a stepdaughter, Deanna (Jerry) Shew, North Carolina; a grandson, Clayton Wankey; a sister, Shirley (Robert Narowetz) Baum, Middleton; brothers-and sisters-in-law: Ken (Betty) Schnese, Darboy; Sandy (Al) Paltzer, Mackville; Curt (Doris) Schnese, Menasha; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Keith Wankey.

    In accordance with Gary's wishes, no services will be held.

  • Note: Appleton - Sandra Rose Paltzer, 67, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at home. Sandy was born on October 29, 1950 to Kenneth Sr and Alvina (Bretthauer) Schnese in Appleton. On April 4, 1981 she was united in marriage to Alfred Paltzer. Sandy worked at Tuttle Press then in retail at Hebergers and Good'n Natural. She found her passion working at the YMCA as a reflexologist and Jin Shin Jyutsu (the art of gentle touch) practitioner. Sandy enjoyed cooking, and the holistic lifestyle. She also liked motorcycle touring with Al, playing cards with friends, reading and writing poetry. Sandy was a member of St. Thomas More and sang in the church choir.

    Sandy is survived by her husband AL, stepson Tom (special friend Lillian) Paltzer, step daughter Tina (Kevin) Flaherty, grandchildren; Caitlin, Corey, and Sean Flaherty, siblings; Ken (special friend Nancy) Schnese, Sue Wankey, Curt (Bonnie) Schnese, Michelle (Kevin) Dolan, uncles; Carl and Larry Schnese, nieces and nephews; Tina (John), Scott (Amy), Lester, Deanna, Kim, Shari, Jodi, Brittany, Justin, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Jean, sisters-in-law; Betty Schnese, and Doris Schnese, and a brother-in-law Gary Wankey.

    The funeral liturgy for Sandy will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald St. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home and at church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. She was born on August 1, 1938 in Clintonville, the daughter of the late Byron and Evelyn (Lyon) Allen. On July 23, 1982 she married Curtis Schnese in Oshkosh. Doris enjoyed her years working at Fox Valley Technical College. She loved her pets, angels, waterfalls, oil painting and drawing. Doris was always looking for a "treasure" at rummage sales and flea markets. Camping and traveling were a few of her passions, but most important was spending time with her family.

    Doris is survived by her loving husband, Curt Schnese; daughters: Kim Green, Shari (Russell) Huven and Jodi (Mike) Huven; son, Ken (Shelly) Brenden; seven grandchildren: Stefanie and Nicole Green; Sasha and Kassandra Huven; Courtney and Trevor Huven; Matt Brenden; brothers and sisters: Myron Allen, Leonard (Dawn) Allen, Crystal May, Brent Allen, Carla (Mike) Wanty and Casey Wilson; special friends: Lee (Bill) Nolte, Pansy (Dan) Frane, Nancy Vandersee and Marie Lippold and many others too numerous to mention. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Emma Vandersee; her son, Martin Brenden; three brothers: Gary, Danny and Bruce Allen.

    The memorial service for Doris will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at THE PENTECOSTALS OF THE FOX CITIES, 1445 Midway Road, Menasha. Pastor Dan Sharp will be officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the church.
