    Age 81, died Friday morning at his home. He was born February 7, 1896 at Peshtigo. He came to Wrightstown as a child. He was a veteran of World War I. He married the former Martha Kersten on November 12, 1919. He was a millworker at Thilmany Paper Company, Kaukauna. Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Mrs. Raymond (Vanita) Pennenberg, Route 2, DePere; Mrs. Herbert (Lavern) Treichel, Route 2, Greenleaf; Mrs. Vincent (Elaine) Green, Route 5, DePere; a son, Lyle, Hilbert; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded him in death. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wrightstown, with the Rev. Carol Klein officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the DeWane Funeral Home, Wrightstown, after 2 p.m. Sunday until noon on Monday when he will be taken to the church.

  • Death: He died on April 30, 2015, at age 86, in Hilbert, Calumet Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Lyle W. Kamps, age 86, of Hilbert, died on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at his home. He was born on January 31, 1929 in Wrightstown, son of the late William & Martha (Kersten) Kamps. He was born and raised in the Wrightstown area. He married Eva Stender on June 7, 1958 in Kunesh. After graduation from high school, Lyle served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he went to school to become a barber and moved to Hilbert in 1959 when he opened his own shop, and retired in November of 2010. Lyle and Eva loved to travel. He was an avid Packer, Brewer and any Wisconsin sports team fan and attended many high school sporting events throughout the years. He played dart ball and bowled for many years, loved to deer hunt, fish in Canada, garden, and make his famous crock jar pickles. In winter he would spend hours cracking hickory nuts. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert, where he served as an elder, school board member, secretary of the congregation, and was janitor for 17 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 127 of Hilbert. Survivors include his wife Eva, his children, Sallie Kamps of Merrill, Richard of Hilbert, Tom of Hilbert, Jim of Thiensville, Kurt of Hilbert, Susan (Tony) Wittmann of Hilbert, 3 grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary, and Andrew Wittmann, a sister Laverne Treichel of DePere, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Vanita Pennenberg and Elaine Green. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. The Rev. Timmothy Heath, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 4:00 pm.     She was born November 24, 1923 in Wrightstown to the late William and Martha (Kersten) Kamps. She married Herbert A. Treichel June 17, 1944 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wrightstown. Lavern was a former member of Zion Morrison Ladies Aid and the Morrison Homemakers Club. Lavern and Herbert were privileged to observe almost 60 years of marriage. Lavern enjoyed several card clubs and was an awesome baker.

    She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Mary Treichel, Denmark; two daughters and one son-in-law: Shirley Hendricks, De Pere; Nancy and William Krueger, Wayside; grandchildren: Sheri and Tim Runge, Lisa and Tim Steffes, Todd and Tammy Krueger, Brian and Linda Krueger, Craig and Lisa Treichel, Chris and Cory Hudson, Kevin Treichel; great grandchildren: Jacob, Abigayle and Mikayla Runge, Alaina and Lauryn Steffes, Isaac and Grace Hudson, Brett and Brock Treichel, Lydia, Liam and Casey Krueger, further survived by one sister-in-law Eva Kamps, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, one son-in-law Ken Hendricks, two sisters and brothers-in-law Vanita and Ray Pennenberg, Elaine and Vincent Green and one brother Lyle Kamps.

    Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church, 7395 County Road W, Morrison on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Randy Ott officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
