    Mauthe, Gerald C. "Jerry"
    Gerald C. Mauthe, Appleton, age 84, died peacefully June 11, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Jerry was born April 15, 1924, in Kimberly to the late Lawrence and Helena (Lamers) Mauthe. After graduating from Appleton High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as an Army medic during WWII in the South Pacific. On January 8, 1949, he was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Kavanaugh at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. They resided in Appleton where they raised their 7 children and enjoyed over 59 years of marriage. Jerry worked 38 years for Midtec in Kimberly, retiring in 1989. Jerry had extremely strong faith in the Lord and was a proud member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton for over 50 years. He was an active member of Appleton VFW Post 2778.
    He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Mary, Appleton; two daughters: Eileen (Larry) Squires, Manawa, and Patricia (Paul) Roovers, Appleton; five sons: Thomas (Cheryl), Oshkosh; Gerald, Blaine, MN; Michael (Brenda), Coon Rapids, MN; James (Joan), Appleton; and Anthony (Colleen), Appleton. 19 Grandchildren: Carrie Bodenburg, Daniel (Angelia Nachtwey) Squires, Sara (Chad) Squires-Buchholz, Nicholas Mauthe, Stephanie (Chris Paluch) Mauthe, Gerard Mauthe, Andrea and Benjamin Mauthe, Cori (Matt Overesch) Roovers, Amanda (Will Giffin) Roovers, Crystal (Levi) Pingel, Zachary, Samuel, and Gabriel Mauthe, Thomas, Jymani, and TuTu Bryant, and Victor Boyd, 7 great-grandchildren: William and Caitlyn Bodenburg, Nevaeh and Malachi Mauthe, Megan and Jacob Pingel, and Mitchell Giffin; his brother Louis (Betty) Mauthe, Appleton; three sisters: Ann Mauthe, Appleton, Helen (Ted) Felzer, Appleton, and Beatrice (Phil) Greb, Austin, TX; 4 sisters-in-law: Phyllis Mauthe, Appleton, Dorothy Kavanaugh, Apple Valley, MN, Rose Kavanaugh, Little Chute, and Mary Ellen Kavanaugh, Freedom. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Ruth (Joe) Kaiser, Magdaline (Les) Belling, and Doris (Jack) Parker; two brothers: John (Betty) Mauthe and Larry Mauthe.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S State St., with Father Michael O'Rourke officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice and the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their kindness, care, and concern.
