  • Death: He died on December 18, 2013, at age 82, in Manitowoc, Manitowoc Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Eugene J. Jansen, age 82, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.

    He was born on May 18, 1931 in Kaukauna, WI., son of the late Curtis & Fern (Kraemer) Jansen. Eugene attended the Kaukauna School System. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1948 to 1955 where he served in Japan and Germany and also during the Korean Conflict. On July 16, 1964 he married the former Dorothy Naidl at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. This coming July they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Eugene was a welder for the Manitowoc Company for 16 years and later was employed with Kahlenberg Brothers of Two Rivers from which he retired. Eugene loved woodworking and was a Green Bay Packers & Wisconsin Badgers fan. He also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, gardening and walking. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88.

    Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Jansen, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law: Julie & Jack Wetenkamp, Manitowoc; a son: Eugene Jansen Jr., Port Washington; two grandchildren: Heather Wetenkamp and her fiancé Zach Feldhacker, Josh Wetenkamp and his special friend Felicia; twelve sisters and two brothers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his step mother: Gladys Jansen; one sister and two brothers.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, and military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88.

    The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013. Friends may also call Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the morning prayers at 10:30 a.m.

    Mackowiak, Michael A. Michael A. Mackowiak, age 49, of the Township of Navarino, Shawano County, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at his residence. Mike was born on September 26, 1956, in Clintonville, the son of James and Dorothy (Peeters) Mackowiak. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. He also was raised on the Mackowiak family farm in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, and attended Clintonville High School, graduating in 1975. On October 4, 1985, Mike was united in marriage to Lori Hartleben at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Mike worked as a carpenter for various contractors and lumberyards in the area until 1994 when he became self-employed as Mackowiak Construction. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Lori; his son, Andrew "AJ" Mackowiak, at home; his parents, Dorothy and James Mackowiak, Clintonville; his sisters: Barbara (Raymond) Polzin, Clintonville; Karen White (special friend Jeff Smith), Clintonville; Sarah (Dennis) Seymour, Clintonville; Mary (Pat) Peeters, Bear Creek; Lisa (Kevin) Kriewaldt, Clintonville; his brothers: Robert Mackowiak and Peter (Andrea) Mackowiak, Clintonville; his mother and father-in-law, Mickey and Donald Hartleben, Bear Creek; his sisters-in-law: Lisa (Andrew) Olsen, Orfordville, WI; Penny (Tony) Chambers, Black Creek; his brothers-in-law: Marty (Alyce) Hartleben, Clintonville; Jay (Connie) Hartleben, Shawano; Kelly (Sheila) Hartleben, Bear Creek; numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino with the Rev. Theodore Hendricks officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Navarino. Friends may call at the Church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
