    Dudek, Hildegard F.


    Hildegard F. Dudek, of Appleton and Menasha, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Hildegard was born on December 12, 1918, in the Town of Ellington (Green-ville), Wisconsin, daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Staudinger) Reimer. She married Norman M. Dudek on July 19, 1941; he preceded her in death in October 2003. In addition to being a homemaker, Hildegard worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Ace Body Shop, Appleton. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and dancing.

    Hildegard and Norman belonged to the Merry Makers Dance Club and Romeos and Calicos Square Dance Group. She was a member of the Appleton Lady Elks. Hildegard also participated in various church groups at Sacred Heart and St. Bernard parishes.

    She is survived by her children: Janice (Richard) Collins, The Villages, Florida; James Dudek, Norcross, Georgia; and Julie (Timothy) Wolff, Hortonville; her two grandchildren: Sarah (Tim Laughinghouse) Collins, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Rebecca (Keith Pille) Collins, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and her great-grandson, Charles Laughinghouse. She is also survived by two sisters: Adeline Plamann and Marjorie (Robert) Albrecht; and her sisters-in-law: Sedella (Nicolas) Jacob, and Helen Riemer, Greenville, Wisconsin.

    She was preceded in death by her sisters: Regina, Mary, Clara, Angeline; and her brother, John.

    The Funeral Liturgy for Hildegard will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 West Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. A memorial has been established in Hildegard's name.

    The family wishes to express a thank you to the staff at Fox River Assisted Living in Appleton for Hilde's care during the last two years.

    Marion G. Gunther, Menasha, age 89, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Oakridge Gardens, Menasha, WI. She was born on September 3, 1919, daughter of the late Rudy and Anna (Stein) Forster. She married Cyril Gunther, on July 30, 1949; he preceded her in death on December 11, 1998. Marion loved knitting and crafting and donated her work to hospitals, her church, and the community. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church of Menasha.
    Marion is survived by her three children: Robert (Linda) Gunther, Mississ-ippi, William (Tracy) Gunther, Neenah, Barbara (Gary) Elmer, Neenah; a brother, Hubert Forster, Appleton; a sister, Helen North, NC; six grandchildren: David (Mary Anna), Neil (Jennifer), Katie, Paul (Angel), Tommy (Valerie), Carrie (Jason) Moore; five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
    Marion was also preceded in death by her five brothers: Edward, Andrew, Norbert, Raymond, Kenneth; and five sisters: Dorothy Beschta, Irene Schmidt, Eunice Strege, Margaret Miller and Joan Gmeiner.
    The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008, at St. John Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Internment will take place at St. John Cemetery, Menasha.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and all the caregivers of Oakridge Gardens, Heartland Hospice, and Theda Clark, who lovingly took care of Marion.

    Gmeiner, Joan Marie (Forster) Joan Marie Gmeiner (Forster), 76, Lakewood, formerly of Appleton and Green Bay, passed away on Nov. 9, 2007. Joan was born in Appleton on April 3, 1931, to the late Rudolph and Anna (Stein) Forster. She lived most of her life in the Appleton and Green Bay areas, retiring to Lakewood in 1992. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married Robert Gmeiner, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2001. In addition to taking care of her family, Joan had worked as a jewelry sales clerk. She loved playing bridge and socializing especially with the "Red Hat Society."

    Joan is survived by three sons, John (Donna) Gmeiner, Townsend; Greg (Julie) Gmeiner, Appleton; David Gmiener, Appleton. She is further survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Bob Gmeiner (special friend, Julie), Appleton; Ben (Hannah) Gmeiner and their children, Jacob and Andrew, Neenah; Terri (Dennis) Borchardt and their children, Abbey and Seger, Lakewood; two sisters, Helen North, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Marion Gunther, Menasha; one brother, Hub Forster, Appleton; and nieces, nephews and friends.

    The visitation is on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m. Fr. David Schmidt is officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

  • Note: On Friday March 1, 2013, a golden heart stopped beating when Merlin Joseph Krautkramer Sr. went home to the Lord after an almost one year battle with cancer. He was born on May 28, 1935 in Green Bay, to Raymond and Cecelia (Ambrosius) Krautkramer.

    On September 28, 1957, he married Marion Vannieuwenhoven. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 28, 2012. Merlin worked for Packerland Packing, Lov-it-Butter, Y.M.C.A., and Building Services Group in Little Chute. In 2009, he founded and was owner of I Care Lawn Care. He was an avid Packer and Nascar fan.

    Merlin is survived by his wife, Marion; three children, Mary Elsinger, Merlin Krautkramer Jr., Marlene (Dean) Krause; four grandchildren, Bethany (Kaleb) Cieslewicz, Sara Krautkramer, Eric Krautkramer, Matthew Krautkramer and his fiance, Jenn Hartwell; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Faith, and Anna Cieslewicz; a sister, Jean Stuewer; two sisters-in-law, Gen Andrews, Elaine (John) Wilson, ; a brother-in-law, Gene (Mary) Vannieuwenhoven; two aunts, Gladys and Helen Ambrosius; one uncle, Harold Ambrosius; two Godchildren, David Andrews and Christine Jetton Behnke; numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Cecilia Krautkramer; his father-in-law and his mother-in-law, Henry and Viola Vannieuwenhoven; four brothers-in-law, Lawrence Vannieuwenhoven, Joseph Andrews, Vernon Andrews, Ardwin Stuewer; three sisters-in-law, Louise Andrews, Carol Vanniewenhoven; and Marge Hoppa.

    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave, on Tuesday March 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. A parish wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday March 5, at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday March 6, 2013 until the time the procession leaves for church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Rev Don Everts officiating. Entombment will following at Fort Howard Memorial Park.

After his death, she married Herbert Vandenberg on December 21, 1968. Renata was a life member of the Kaukauna Electric City V.F.W. Post 3319 Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Auxiliary, Little Chute. She loved playing cards, especially Cribbage and Sheephead. Renata was a gifted crafter and was an active member of the Kaukauna Ladies Thursday Craft Club.

    Renata is survived by her children: William Hardy, Golden, Colorado; Jane (Eugene) Schaefer, Kaukauna; Constance (Curtis) Wiegert, Manitowoc; and Dave (Barbara) Hardy, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Louise Archelata, Kelvin Hardy, Bill Schaefer, Bob Schaefer, Mary Welch, Debbie Coffey, Bonnie VanEgern, Laurie Kleiber, Heidi Iverson, Becky Barribeau and Mike Hardy; and sisters-in-law: Audrey Hardy, Betty Vandenberg and Mary (Bob) Weyenberg. She is further survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    In addition to her parents and husbands, Renata was preceded in death by her grandsons, Charles Hardy and Kenneth Schaefer; and many members of Eugene and Herbert's families.

    Visitation will be held on Saturday October 18, 2014 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. The Rev.     Meltz, Lois Jane
    Lois J. Meltz, 78, formerly of Appleton and Suring, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Feb. 28, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz. Lois was born April 21, 1929, in Appleton, daughter of the late August and Ida (Hooyman) Jahnke. She resided in Appleton for most of her life, moving to Suring in 1990 and to Arizona in 2005. On June 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence (Larry) Meltz, sharing 61 years together. Lois worked as head cashier at the Piggly Wiggly in Appleton for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

    Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; her children, Ross (Jacquelyn) Meltz, Appleton; Krystal (Carl) Krause, Iola; Reed (Cynthia) Meltz, Black Creek; Andy (Stacey) Meltz, Phoenix, Ariz.; Edward (Mary) Meltz, Alpena, Mich.; and August (Collette) Meltz, Shiocton; a son-in-law, Wayne Klarner, Seymour; grandchildren, Christopher (Nikki) Meltz, Alaska; Aaron (Oanh) Meltz, California; David (Erin) Meltz, Oshkosh; Wendy Ruck, Oshkosh; Dean (Heidi) Dye Jr., Minnesota; Jakeus (Mary) Meltz, Shiocton; Charles (Crystal) Meltz, Seymour; Travis Meltz, Black Creek; Nicole Meltz, Black Creek; Sarah Klarner, Freedom; Rachael Klarner (Brad), Freedom; Zachery Meltz, Arizona; Thomas Meltz, Michigan; Carolyn Meltz, Michigan; Johnathan Meltz, Michigan; Shawn Boettcher, Nevada; and Halie Meltz, Shiocton; numerous step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Emily, Justine, Jadynn, Savannah, Molly and Liana; and a brother, Arlon (Janet) Jahnke, Florida.

    The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and then directly at the church (Sacred Heart Room) from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. A reception to celebrate Lois' life will be held at the Red Ox Supper Club, 2318 S. Oneida St., following the service.

    Lois had a heart full of love and she didn't hesitate to share that love with everyone around her. God had given all of us a gift by bringing her into our lives. We will cherish this gift and the memories and we are forever grateful to have shared our lives with her. Rest in peace Grandma. We'll always keep you in our hearts.
