  • Note: Rod Geenen, 44, Seymour, loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend, died as a result of an automobile accident on May 1, 2010. He was born on Feb. 12, 1966, to Pat and Patty (Beyer) Geenen in the Town of Freedom.



    Rod was a dedicated father and truly enjoyed the time that he spent with his children, Austin and Madison. He lived life to the fullest and was always the laugh and life of the party. Rod enjoyed coaching sports and was an avid sports fan. His life on Earth was way too short, but he touched the lives of many.

    Rod is survived by his two wonderful children, Austin and Madison; their mother, Jody Calmes; loving parents, Pat and Patty Geenen; brother, Bob (Terrie) Geenen; sister, Jill (Lance) Vandenberg; and grandparents, Russ and Helen Beyer. Rod was a fun and loving uncle to goddaughter Bailee, Bryce and Brooke. He also had several special aunts, uncles and cousins that will truly miss him. Rod had close friends that were like family that he enjoyed and had many laughs with.

    Rod was preceded in death by his brother, Greg; cousins, Joe and Scott; and grandparents, Gerald and Sis Geenen.

    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service concluding the evening. Visitation will continue at St Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from 10 a.m. until services at 12 noon with Father Dave Hoffman. Burial in the parish cemetery.

    Norbert G. (Babe) Uhlenbrauck, 91, Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, April 9, 2010, at Fox River Assisted Living. He was born February 6, 1919, the son of the late Albert and Anna (Stapel) Uhlenbrauck in Black Creek. On August 12, 1943, Norb married the joy of his life, Joyce Klika. They began their life together farming in Black Creek. After two years, they moved to Appleton where Norb was employed as a service technician for Sears. It was during this time that his great aptitude for "fixing things" became apparent. Norb could diagnose and repair almost anything. His homes (of which there were many) were either built or remodeled under his expertise. Norb did not consider retirement but instead, he and Joyce owned and operated the Westmoor Motel in Manitowoc as well as several apartment buildings in Appleton. He loved nature and always had a few bird feeders within his view to enjoy watching the birds come and go. Norb and Joyce spent many Saturday evenings dancing at the Cinderella ballroom with their many friends. Being an avid card player, the family gatherings usually concluded with a fun game of Sheepshead.

    Norb will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce; children: Judy (Ron) Colling, Little Chute, their children: Joe (Stephanie) Colling, Tom (Jenny) Colling, Catherine (Brian) Wallace; Norbert E. (Jane) Uhlenbrauck, Neenah; their children: Amy (Kurt) Wilkinson, Nicole (Doug) Salm, Kristin (Dan) Trochil; Carla (Gary) Krueger, Appleton; their children: Traci (Tim) Granberg, Dave (Edie) Krueger, Ben (Erin) Krueger, Sam (Sarah) Krueger, Jared Krueger; Randy (Micki) Uhlenbrauck, Appleton their children: Bryn (Scott) Ceman, Ryan Uhlenbrauck, Tyler Uhlenbrauck; his 21 great grandchildren, plus two more this summer, extends his legacy. Norb is further survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mae Uhlenbrauck, Mabel Plamann, Isabel (Leo) Huelsbeck, Georgie (Mike) Gilbertson, Everen Klika, Lois Klika, Harlan ( Pat) Klika, Harvey (Corrine) VandenBloomer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Norb was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, George Klika, mother-in-law, Johanna Klika; five brothers: Earl, Gilbert, Vernon Uhlenbrauck, Walter and Emro Plamann; sisters-in-law: Carrie Plamann, Laurinda Uhlenbrauck and Dolores VandenBloomer; brothers-in-law: Bob Schuh, Cyril Klika and Ron Klika.

    Funeral services for Norb will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, with Rev. Bob Lexa officiating and Deacon Gerry Schraufnagel assisting. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may visit the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of mass.

    The family would like to give special thanks to Fox River Assisted Living, Touchmark and the Hospice staff for their wonderful care given to Norbert.

  • Note: Joyce G. Uhlenbrauck, 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Brewster Village. Joyce was born in Little Chute on October 8, 1924, daughter of the late George A. and Johanna (Jansen) Klika. On August 12, 1943, Joyce married the joy of her life, Norbert G. Unlenbrauck. They began their life together farming in Black Creek. After two years, they moved to Appleton. At this time, Joyce developed an expertise at being a homemaker. She was well known within her family and outreaches as an expert at baking and cooking, and loved having the family over for holiday meals. Being an avid card player, the family gatherings usually concluded with a fun game of Sheepshead. She enjoyed travel with family and friends both domestic and abroad. She, also, did not miss an opportunity to play bingo. Joyce and Norb spent many Saturday evenings dancing at the Cinderella Ballroom with their many friends. As her family grew, she included employment at both the former Grants Department Store and Zwicker Knitting Mill. Joyce and Norb also owned and operated the Westmoor Motel in Manitowoc as well as several apartment buildings in Appleton.

    Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew her but especially by her children and grandchildren: Judy (Ron) Colling, Appleton; their children: Joe (Stephanie) Colling, Tom (Jenny) Colling, and Catherine (Brian) Wallace; Norbert E.     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joyce at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, with Fr. Jim O'Leary, OFM, Cap., officiating. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for local charities in Joyce's name.

    The family would like to give special thanks to Brewster Village, especially, the loving care provided by the staff in Rosewood. Also, we thank the Theda Care Hospice staff for making Joyce's last days comfortable.
