    Schmit, Margaret L. Margaret L. Schmit, age 89, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Century Oaks, Darboy. She was born September 6, 1916, to the late William and Clara (Eberhardt) Van Ryite in Appleton and lived there most of her life. She married Robert E. Schmit and they were blessed with three children. Margaret was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and the Ladies of the Moose, Kaukauna. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her children, Judy (Stan) Griesbach, Combined Locks; Sharon Coenen (fiance, Greg La Fond), Eau Claire; Bob (Sandy) Schmit, Freedom; Cathy (Tim) Miller, Sherwood and their children: Tim and Shauna; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Toni) Griesbach, Neenah; Leah (Dave) Peterson, Wausau; Andrea (Jerome) Berger, Colorado; Ben (Anita) Coenen, Altoona; Jeremy Coenen (friend, Angela Swanson), Minneapolis; Ashley and Justin Schmit, Freedom; six great-grandchildren, Jarett and Joshua Peterson, Conlan and Shiloh Berger, Jasilyn Griesbach and Brianna Coenen; a wonderful and devoted sister, Irene Lamers, Little Chute; sister-in-law, Gladys Buxton, Appleton; brother-in-law, Robert Vander Velden; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sister, Betty (Ron) Geurts; and a brother, Ed (Rosemary) Van Ryite; and son-in-law, Jerry Coenen. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton, with Rev Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. A memorial is being established.     Ronald Geurts

    Ronald J. Geurts, 73, of Eau Claire died Monday, November 1, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born in Freedom, Wisconsin on December 28, 1930, the son of Arnold and Evelyn (Vandenberg) Geurts. He graduated from Freedom High School in 1948.

    He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1950 as a Teletype Operator and Rifle Marksman.

    Ronald married Betty Van Ryite in Little Chute on May 7, 1952. Betty passed away in 1994. He married Delma Hagen on February 22, 1999 in Las Vegas.

    He worked for 30 years as an Engineer for Wisconsin Telephone Company until his retirement in 1986. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends at Wildwood Resort in Chetek. He really enjoyed people and living life to the fullest.

    Survivors include his wife, Del; four daughters, Jean (Dave) Kurtz of Chippewa Falls, Joan (Fred) Kawell, Carol (Kory) Lien, both of Eau Claire, and Judy (Jack) Butler of Maynard, MA; two sons, James and Jerald (Judy) both of Oconto; three step-children, Julie (Keith) Dilley, Lisa Stevenson and Peter (Sherrie) Ring all of Eau Claire; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; one sister, Beady Green of Kaukauna; three brothers, Bob of Freedom, Dick of Las Vegas, and DuWayne “Hienie” (Jeannie) of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jon Paul Geurts.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2004, at St. Olaf Catholic Church with Father Frank Corradi officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday evening at the funeral home.

    Age 37, passed away at 4:10 a.m. this morning after a short illness. She was born January 22, 1932 in Appleton. She has been a resident of Appleton all of her lifetime. Mrs. Van Ryite was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and the Christian Mothers Society. Survivors are her husband, one daughter, Catherine Mary at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Van Dyn Hoven, Appleton; one brother, Eugene, Appleton; her grandmother, Mrs. Albert Van Dyn Hoven, Sr., Little Chute. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary Catholic Church with burial in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Sunday. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

    Norbert H. Bergman, 88, Green Bay, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 25, 2008, surrounded by his family following a battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Kaukauna, to Henry and Matilda (Bongers) Bergman. Norbert proudly served his country during World War II as a medic with the 3rd Armored Division of the 1st Army. During his service in the European Theatre they went through Belgium and France and into Germany for the "Battle of the Bulge". They were renowned as the only division to march 100 miles in a single day. On Nov. 8, 1947, Norbert was united in marriage to Grace M. Desotell and they had enjoyed more than 60 years together. Norbert was a longtime member of Annunciation Parish and a past member of the V.F.W. He was employed at Alwin Manufacturing for many years until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing with his family and friends. Norbert enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and family and especially enjoyed the Packers.
    He is survived by his wife, Grace; two children and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Bergman, Linda Lauren; two grandchildren, Sandy and Brian Swiecichowski; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mabel DeGrave, Evelyn and Wilbert "Bert" VanderWegan, Joan Crowe; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Bergman; three brothers-in-law and their spouses, Ronald and Helen Desotell, Norbert and Grace Desotell, Dean and Mary Desotell; a sister-in-law, Marie Desotell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles "Bud" Bergman; and a sister, Beatrice Sigl.
    Friends may call at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev.   • Note: Geraldine "Gerri" R. Truyman, age 91, of Appleton and formerly of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Rennes Health Care Center in Appleton with her children by her side. She was born September 7, 1920 to the late Henry and Nettie (Rynders) Dercks.

    On October 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to the late Benedict Truyman. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2002.

    She operated Gerri's Beauty Shop in Seymour for many years until her retirement. While running the beauty shop she juggled her business and raising her family. Following Ben's retirement the couple moved to their home on Shawano Lake. Gerri was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Seymour prior to moving to Shawano Lake where she became a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church.

    She was known for her sense of humor, outgoing personality, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family.

    Gerri is survived by her four children: David (Carol) Truyman, Black Creek; Rick (Debbie) Truyman, Appleton; Mark (Debbie) Truyman, Seymour; Diane (Lee) Schumacher, Appleton; nine grandchildren: Jody, Ranee, Jennifer, Mike, Becky, Ken, Eric, Deanna, and Katie; 12 great-grandchildren.

    She is further survived by a sister, Mary Jane (Robert) Hartjes, Middleton; a brother: Joe Dercks, Menominee, WI; brother-in-law Jack (Laura) Truyman, Oshkosh; sisters-in-law Lorraine Fuerst, Appleton; Evelyn Knapp, Kaukauna; Marie Truyman, Kaukauna.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Gerri was preceded in death by four brothers: Nick (Ceil) Dercks, Robert, Tom, and Jim Dercks; two sisters: Barb (Dick) DeCoster and Bernice (Gordy) Kray; three brothers-in-law: Robert Fuerst, Bill Knapp, and Jerry Truyman.

    Friends may call at St. Bernadette Parish, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Fr. Donald Zuleger will be officiating with entombment taking place at Highland Memorial Park.
