  • Death: She died on January 5, 2018, at age 81.
  • Note: James and Margaret (Schreiber) Schmalz celebrated their 60th
    wedding anniversary on September 18th at Sacred Heart Parish Appleton.
    Celebrating along with Jim and Marge were their eight sons; Steve (Pam), Tom (Sue), Ron (Debbie), Mike (Beth), Anthony (Sue), Dan (Linda), Doug (Lynn), and Patrick (Annia). Jim and Marge are also blessed with 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

  • Note: Appleton - Margaret Mary Schmalz, age 81 of Appleton, surrounded by her family, passed on to her heavenly home on January 5, 2018 following a brief illness. Marge was born on August 25, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Margaret (Schmidt) Schreiber. Marge married James (Jim) Schmalz on September 18th, 1956 at Holy Angels, Darboy and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. She was a devoted member at Sacred Heart Parish, Appleton.

    Marge and Jim have 8 sons, 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Marge enjoyed many activities from coaching softball games, custom sewing, upholstery, and paintings that she created and made for her family. She loved bowling and was on a bowling team until in her late 70's. She enjoyed the cabin up north with an occasional trip to the casino. She was known as "Cookie Grandma" especially to her great grandchildren. Family meant everything to Marge and Jim and they attended many of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities.

    Marge is survived by her husband Jim; their sons; Steve (Pam), Tom (Sue), Ron (Debbie), Mike (Beth), Anthony (Sue), Dan (Linda), Doug (Lynn), Patrick (Annia). brothers and sisters; Michael Jr., Raymond (Lois), Barbara Gillis, Jerome (Dianne), Sylvia (Gary Breier); Robert (Mary), Ronald (Kathleen), Joseph, Angela (James) Hall, Mary (Michael) Olson, Susann Jacobson. brother in-laws, Jerry Weber; sister in-laws; Cris Schreiber, Pat Schmalz. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    Marge was preceded in death by her parents; mother & father in-law; Ruben & Irene Schmalz, brothers Eugene and John Schreiber. brother -in-laws; Gerald Gillis, Charles Jacobson, John Schmalz, Joe Schmalz and Jerry Schmalz. sister in-laws; Alice Schreiber, Janet Weber, Sally Schmalz and Betty Schmalz.

    A visitation for Marge will be held Monday, January 8 from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 pm at Wichmann Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee St, Menasha. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Parish, 222 E Fremont St. Appleton on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with Father Don Zuleger officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. A special thank you to the team at Fresenius Kidney Care of Appleton.

  • Birth: Phyllis Louise Schlude was born on June 6, 1939.
  • Marriage: She was married on August 1, 1959 in Kaukauna, Outagamie Co, Wisconsin.
  • Death: She died on January 9, 2014, at age 74, in Neenah, Winnebago Co, Wisconsin.
  • Note: Phyllis L. Krueger, age 74, of Chilton, formerly of Neenah, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was born on June 6, 1939 to the late Phillip and Louise Schlude. Phyllis graduated from Appleton High School, and went on to attend and graduate from the Outagamie County Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She married August Krueger on August 1, 1959 in Kaukauna at Bethany Lutheran Church. She and August were later members at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in New Holstein. Phyllis and August enjoyed spending the winters at Oakwood Estates in Winter Haven, Florida. She was an elementary school teacher at multiple schools in the Fox Valley Area. Phyllis owned her own company, Phyllis' Ceramics Studio, in Neenah, and also spent time teaching ceramics and doll making classes.

    She is survived by her loving husband, August Krueger; children: Sally (Don) Landskron; John (Sia) Krueger; Tammy (Jason Olson) Krueger; grandchildren: Jeremey (Amanda Leigh) and Heather Landskron; Kassandra and Karissa Huynh; Encrendre Lambert-Eng; Michael, Austin, Justin, Kaylee Krueger; Mindara and Kalyan Krueger-Olson; great-grandchildren: Parker and Issac Landskron; brother: Donald (Jane) Schlude.

    A funeral service for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI COUNTY CHAPEL (1592 Oneida St., Menasha) with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
