William James Neabling

  • Note: Bill Neabling, a lifelong resident of Neenah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27th with his family by his side at Valley VNA in Neenah. He was born October 1, 1915 at the home of his parents, the late William and Jensena (Christensen) Neabling. In high school he participated in track, football, and basketball. He was a starter on the Neenah Rockets basketball team in his sophomore year and team captain during his senior year when the Rockets competed in the 1932 state championship game. At the end of his senior year he joined the National Guard and served three years with Company I, rifle division. He was an avid hockey player and played several seasons with the semi-pro Neenah Red Wings.

    In 1934 Bill began working for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. In 1978 he retired from Lakeview Mill after 44 years of service.

    Bill met Joan Vander Heyden while ice skating at Green Park and on May 31st, 1941 they were married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Appleton. Joan preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 1985, after 44 years of marriage.

    Bill loved his retirement years. He was an avid year-round fisherman and hunter. His last buck was shot with a crossbow when he was 90 years old. Bill was also a fan of the Bucks, Brewers and a season ticket holder for the Packers, but he especially enjoyed watching many years of his granddaughters' softball games.

    Bill was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where he ushered the 7:30 A.M. mass on Sundays for 24 years. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Mildred Neabling and Grace Nelson; and his brothers: Maurice and Howard Larson. Bill will be remembered with love and affection by his three children: Sue Losse (special friend Harvey Walbrun) of Menasha; Deb Kordsmeier (Kent) of Neenah; Tim (Jana) of Neenah. He will be sadly missed by his three granddaughters whom he lovingly called "my girls": Beth Neabling of Neenah; Michelle Neabling of Glendale, Arizona; and Stephanie Neabling (fiancé Taylor Morris) of Neenah. He is also survived by two grandsons: Mike Losse of San Diego, California and Patrick Losse of Oshkosh; and six great-grandchildren: Michael and Alexis Losse; John, Rob, Nick Losse; and Brayden Neabling. He is further survived by his nephew Howard (Marion) Larson.

    The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Internment will be at St. Margaret Cemetery.

    Wildenberg Child

    Jean Ann Wildenberg, 21/2 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wildenberg, Merritt Avenue, Kaukauna, died at her home at 9 o'clock this morning after an illness of two months. She was born March 28, 1947, in Kaukauna.

    Survivors include her parents; one sister, Judith, at home; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Treffley Lenneville, Kimberly, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wildenberg, Little Chute

    The mass of the angels will be at 9 o'clock Monday morning at the Holy Cross church, Kaukauna. The Rev. Andrew Quella, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home from 7 0'clock Saturday evening until the time of services Monday morning.

    Ashauer, Gerald L. "Jerry"


    Gerald L. "Jerry" Ashauer, 76, Town of Center, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a short illness on Sunday, March 28, 2010. He was born and raised on the family farm in the Town of Harrison on November 20, 1933, to the late Albert and Nora (Berghuis) Ashauer.

    Jerry married Bernice Vander Loop at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute on January 20, 1954. They were longtime and active members of St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville. He was past president of Outagamie Pork Association, Town of Center Board member and he and Bernice were instrumental in developing Grand View Golf Course in Hortonville. Jerry was a lifelong farmer who loved to hunt, fish and provided for his family in a variety of ways with his time and talents.

    He will be greatly missed by his wife, Bernice of 56 years; children: Joe (Linda) Ashauer; Christii Ashauer; Jeff (Cindy L.) Ashauer; Cindy (Marty) Timm; Cathy (Mike) Timm; Jim Ashauer and Jason (Sari) Ashauer; grandchildren: Brianna Ashauer, Scott, Amie Arnoldussen, Quinn, Tristin DeDecker, Jesse (Becki) Ashauer, Justin (Rachel) Ashauer, Matthew, Maxwell Ashauer, Andrew, Victoria Timm, Kyle Timm, Zachary, Rebecca Ashauer; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ashauer; a sister, Em Meyer and a sister-in-law, Ceil Ashauer.

    Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Loretta (Lawrence) Schmidt and Anna Ashauer; brothers: Paul (Bea) Ashauer and Edward Ashauer; brother-in-law, Harvey Meyer.

    Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville, with Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Interment will be in parish cemetery. Friends may visit the family Tuesday, March 30, 2010, TONIGHT, from 4 - 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a prayer service. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the mass at church Wednesday. A memorial fund is being established.

    The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph Residence for their wonderful care of Jerry these last weeks.

    Carl Grafmeier 1206 Hoover Ave. Little Chute

    Age 77, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 1986, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 15, 1909, in Kaukauna. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club, and the Little Chute and Combined Locks Golden Agers.

    Survivors include two daughters and a son in-law, Lois and Jerome Evers, Kaukauna; and Carol Swanningson, Little Chute; two sons and daughters in-law, Ronald and Pat Grafmeier, Combined Locks, and Gerald and Jeanette Grafmeier, Appleton; two brothers, John Grafmeier, Kimberly;l and Mark Grafmeier, Kaukauna; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Grafmeier; his wife, Ida, in 1982; a son, Daniel in 1948l and a son in-law, Richard Swanningson in 1980.

    The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 1986 from St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute with the Rev. Paul Radetski officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna; Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund will be established.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

    A concelebrated Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen and the Rev. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. There will be a St. Elizabeth and Golden AGers rosary at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and the parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

    He is survived by his children: Steve, Brian, Duane (Wendy), Dan (Julie) and Anne; grandchildren: Paul (Jessica), Kaitlin, Brett, Jack, Travis and Alariss; great granddaughter, Emily; siblings: Lois (Jerome) Evers, Jerry Grafmeier and Carol Tennessen.

    Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Dan, and the mother of his children, Pat.

    Private family services will be held at a later date.
