    Age 52, died on Friday, July 2, 1999 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born in Appleton on December 14, 1946, a son of the late Benedict and Antonia [Van Rizin] Kiefer. James had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a winder operator at the former Tuttle Press Co. in Appleton.

    Survivors include his daughter, Kris Kiefer, Appleton; a son, Brent Kiefer, Appleton; and grandchildren; a brother, Walter [Sandy] Kiefer, Little Chute; and three sisters, Sersi [Daniel] Moede, and Cindy [David] Hartl, both of Kaukauna; and Betty Klitzke, Appleton; also by nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and other special friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Memorial services will be held at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, on Sunday, July 4, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. Interment of cremations will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King. Friends may call at the Main Chapel at King on Sunday, one hour prior to the time of the Service.

    Age 76, former Appleton resident, passed away Monday following a long illness. He was born August 8, 1895 in Brillion, and had lived in the Appleton Area.

    Survivors are his wife, Antonia 'Toni' Kiefer; three daughters, Mrs. Vernon [Betty] Klitzke, Appleton; Mrs. Daniel [Iva] Moede, Miss Cindy Kiefer, both of Kaukauna; two sons, Walter Kiefer, and James Kiefer, both of Appleton; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Bohman Brillion; a brother, Henry Kiefer, Arkansas.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Burns-Hemmons Building Chapel at the Grand Army Home, King, with interment in Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. There will be graveside military rites.

    Mrs. Antoni [Toni] Kiefer

    Age 60, died at 10 a.m. Saturday after a long illness. She was born December 8, 1916, in Appleton and was a resident until moving to King in 1967. She was a lifelong member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Appleton VFW.

    Survivors include two sons, Walter A., Little Chute, and James A., Appleton; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel [Iva] Moede, and Cindy L. Kiefer both of Kaukauna; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Vernon [Betty] Klizke, Appleton; two brothers, Oscar Van Ryzin, North Dakota; and Hubert Van Ryzin, Milwaukee; four sisters, Mary Gully, Milwaukee; Sister Agatha Van Ryzin, Green Bay; Ellen Brammer, Florida; and Petronella Smith, Illinois; eleven grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben.

    Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, and from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at King where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King.

    Mrs. Iva Van Ryzin, widow of Oscar J. Van Ryzin and administratrix of his estate, was awarded $419.90 by Judge Fred V. Heinemann, sitting in the upper branch of municipal court Monday. The defendant in the case was the Prudential Life Insurance company and the money represented premiums paid on a life insurance policy held by her husband.
    Oscar J. Van Ryzin disappeared in April 1919 and as nothing has been heard from him and a seven year period has elapsed, he is declared legally dead. His estate is being closed in county court.
